I don't know much about fixed wheelsets so i can't be of help. Few dudes in here that look like they ride fixed so they might be able to. I did fixed at first but it wasn't for me.

B43s are cool in my book. Had those and the regular deep v's.

Ah, I see. It looks like the new wheels are 10mm axles but your old ones were 9mm - probably quick release.
You can open up the drop out a little with a file - basically just removing the paint from each side would do it - you only need 1/2mm off each side and the "top" of the groove too.

Yep, all those deep profile wheels that are springing up in the fashion for fixies are garbage. They're heavy which totally negates the aero advantage (which only really comes in at about 20mph anyway - and most of you aren't getting near that) and they have no other advantages. You'd be much better with a nice set of handbuilts which you could get for similar money. They would ride much better - they just wouldn't have that look.

To this day, I still want to get a ShortyFatz frame. It is an odd geometry but I still like the look.

I'd advise against filing the dropouts. It wouldn't be terribly dangerous or anything, but you should always attempt to modify the most easily replaced part. File the axel instead. Axles can be replaced, fork ends can not. You might want to upgrade the wheelset in the future and it's likely that you'll be opting for a lighter wheelset that usually come with smaller, hollow axels.

My gf ended up sending them back... definitely wasted money since we had to pay out of our own pocket.

I think it depends how often you ride, mines hasn't really broken in but I still find it a bit comfortable. Been a bit lazy to ride my bike lately :\

It depends what you need and what you want to spend. The best idea is to find a local wheel builder and ask them. You buy the parts and then it cost about $50 a wheel to put them together. A well built wheel is great to ride and will last forever without needing anything (other than grease in the bearings).

I am sure people have seen it but here is my bike. All bought on budget but still came close to $1400-1500. Got the frame for $650 brand new on Craigslist. Still don't know why no one liked this 2012 colorway cause I feel like I am the only one with this bike. Everything else was a mixture of buying on Craigslist, Amazon and a local bike shops. Added a brake cause I am not really all about that fixie life. I just like to get from point A to point B as safe as can be.
Was thinking about getting new handlebars but I hate dropsbars with brakes on it. Might get bullhorns but wonder if it is just a waste of money since my risers are fine. Hate looking at fixed up bikes cause all it does is make me want to "doll" up my bike when I don't need to.

^It's a nice color but i think a lot of people that get a Bianchi like the celeste green color or the chrome (if it's a fixie). Celeste is beautiful, my cousin that rides also has a celeste Infinito, beautiful bike.

im seeing a lot of road bikes in here, not to many mountain bikes going on. I have a 2011 Silver Cannondale SL4 29er and was thinking about picking up a road bike for something different. Any suggestions?

I used to ride mountain but i hated having to load the bike into the car and ride to a trail etc. I can ride out of my driveway and go anywhere i want really without having to use a car.
What are you looking to pay? I can definitely make some recommendations but your best bet is to test ride as many bikes as you can and get properly fitted. Some shops might even have older models on closeout since the season is about to start soon so you might be able to find a 2012 model for less. Usually not many changes from year to year, paint schemes, maybe a different crank, etc. Usually just small changes so the price difference isn't worth it.

I hear you with loading the bike up and driving to the trail, I hate that part and with the 29er its pretty much impossible to fit the bike in my car. I pretty much destroyed myself last summer while on a trail. Hit a jump, came down on coal and the bike slid out. 6hrs of plastic surgery later and i was out of the hospital, not fun. I got pretty reckless last summer on the trails and thats why I think its time to switch to the road bike. as far as my price range, anything close to 1k would be fine. I really do not know much about the road bikes tho but some of them that were posted in this thread look real nice. any info would be appreciated.
