Official 2013 NFL Washington Diplomats SEASON Thread - Last Game 12/29 @ 1:00 PM vs. Giants

Wish I could be home for the game, the hype around the area is gonna be electric :pimp: gonna have to instead settle for skipping my 6:30 night class and watching the game with Pats/Giants fans :smh:  they all love RGIII though so it's all good

The polls have closed and the official replacement name, as selected by NikeTalk's members, will be Diplomats.

All Camron nonsense aside, I think it's a great choice.  It fits D.C., home to Embassy Row, and, if nothing else, I consider it a vast improvement over a hideous racial slur.

Thanks to everyone who participated - and to everyone who's choosing their fellow members over their stubborn pride on this issue.  Talking sports with your fellow fans has always been a great experience on NT and we just want to present that experience in a POSITIVE and INCLUSIVE way.  Racial slurs undermine what our community is all about.  I greatly appreciate your cooperation.

For the time being, I'll do my best to keep the topic post updated, but I do have the ability to transfer ownership of the thread to another user.  While I can certainly handle updating the thread title and the schedule/scores table (as I have for the Washington Wizards season thread), I think we'd all prefer it if one of the regulars here assumed ownership of the thread.  If you're interested in this responsibility, let me know and get the approval of your fellow regulars.  I'm happy to make the change for you.

I guess i never saw the poll what were our choices?

Can't wait for monday night. I just want to see RG3 out there looking healthy. The last time we saw him on a football field he was not a good sight.

All the choices sucked except for Pigskins and Warthogs, Diplomats is okay.

Just came from the game. Glad the team showed some signs of life in the second half. Ridiculous how fast the Eagles get to the line. Teams gonna have to prepare for that.

D was solid but we need to learn to wrapup. RG3 just gotta shake the rust off. HTTR

Not even worried fellas.

Terrible first half. Had to shake off some mental cobwebs. I don't like the fact that RG3 had to throw it 49 times but that happens when you are behind.

Morris couldn't break through but I expect better next week.

RG3 didn't look off to anyone else? Not even talking missing throws....just not planting...not looking comfortable....just didn't look right out there. I don't know if thats first game rust or what. But hopefully he starts to settle in because we looked god awful in the first half.

He was definitely tentative/off in the first half and missed some throws in the 2nd half as well. He wasn't stepping/planting confidently and was throwing off his back foot. That being said, I was impressed that he overthrew Garcon on that one deep ball while throwing off his back foot

Anyways, I figured we might get down like 14-0 early due to us not being used to Philly's offense. I didn't expect it to be THAT bad though. The offense was BRUTAL and made it that much worse with our D not being able to get off the field. RG got in a rhythm in the 2nd half and his overall numbers ended up being pretty good, especially after the start he had.

Hard to tell too much from that game. It was one of the worst first halves I've ever seen. We all know our OL isn't good at straight up pass blocking and once that deficit was that big and we we had to throw the ball 50 times it took us out of our element. Our running game wasn't in sync at all and then we didn't get a chance to get it going since we were down big. I put that more on the OL than on Alf though.

It sucks to lose, but I try to keep it in perspective. Bob is still only 8 months out from surgery. Even if he's superhuman and all that jazz he was likely to be rusty and it showed. Brady wasn't immediately back to form coming off his knee injury either. As long as he continues to round into shape we'll be fine IMO.

Few things.

Our Pass rush is so weak without blitzing. What else is new?

RGIII missed throws but he still had the zip on the ball despite the shaky footwork. Offensive line (mostly Tyler Polumbus) cannot be our starting RT. Dude is garbage.

If Alfred Morris cannot be a better pass catcher, then give Helu more reps.

Receivers were not getting open on One-on-One situations. There was no separation out there when Philly brought the blitz.

Baccari Rambo looked lost out there.

I don't trust the Defense in general.

Was it me or did anyone else notice that no one helped RG off the ground after a hit. Seemed like they swarmed to him last year if he ended up on the ground...this game not so much.

What a brutal first half...luckily it wasn't 2010 all over again :smh:

- Chris Thompson...pretty subpar debut. Gonna need to see if he can help in the return game next week or just scrap that idea.
- IDK how I feel about RG, if he's not fully healthy I don't wanna see him out there. He just looked weird to me last night, kinda like the second Philly game last year when he came back from being hurt.
- DHall back to doing what he does best...getting burnt and talking **** :smh:
- Kerrigan had a very good game, as did Perry Riley Jr.
- Orakpo...the hype is slowly dying around him, he better show up big the rest of the year

Hopefully we come out and get in a groove next week, or else Rodgers is gonna torch us

Tough game coming up in Lambeau this Sunday, especially after the Pack lost in SF.

If we can't get any pressure on Rodgers we are done for. Our DBs aren't going to be able to contain Cobb and Nelson and Findley.

But i just want to say thank god for Ryan Kerrigan. I didn't really think he was going to be as big of an impact player as he is. I thought he would get a sack here and there and be a defensive mainstay but....he is honestly our best defender. Dude bulked up and works hard out there i love him as a player.
