Official 2013 NFL Washington Diplomats SEASON Thread - Last Game 12/29 @ 1:00 PM vs. Giants

Billy Cundiff is the new kicker?!
I'd rather have Rackers SMH. Gave up on Gano too soon IMO.

Seems like a wash to me. Gano was wildly inconsistent and Cundiff is 2 years removed from a PB season. I guess Cundiff was dealing w/ a groin injury all last year, so hopefully he can regain some of that 2010 magic.

Between the blocked kicks and KOs out of bounds, I think Shanny and Co. were at wits end w/ Gano. I'm surprised Rackers didn't make more of a push.

Next up, Brandon Banks.

Had a good run in DC, and he'll forever be the player who introduced DK to what YAC meant.

More like the guy that showed me what the slowest TE in the league looks like. I just told my boy thst the writing was on the wall for him when I saw his jersey on the clearance rack in the team store on Saturday. So that's Portis and Cooley, two clowns gone from DC within a week, sounds good to me.

just need you to leave to complete the trifecta.

^
It took Vernon like 5 years to finally be better than CC.

Sad day but we are just finally getting better and just so few spots to go around. The last era officially ends when Santana is gone.

Sad to hear his Press Conference right now...he's torn up.

LOL...I know, right?

I think Santana is a lock (at least for this year). Dude is smart. Went out this offseason and dropped 15 pounds because he knew that he was on the fence going into TC. He's looked good so far in the preseason.

Going back to Cooley for a second....he'd fit in real well in Denver.

Santana always finds ways to stay relevant and productive. He has had his moments as a Skin, his time is coming soon too though.

I think this is his last year w/ the team. He'll be 34 when the season starts next year. I'd have to think that they will be grooming a player like Alderick Robinson to eventually take over Santana's spot in the slot.

******** have one of the worst jerseys to buy, so much turnover on this team the last 10 years or so. :smh:

Man, i feel like im the only who thinks we NEED to keep Banks.

It's easy to fall for that when you think of his speed and think of his electrifying returns but if you take a look at his stats and factor in how the new KO return rule, you'd realize that a precious spot would be of better use on someone who is fast and can step in at a moments notice should we need someone who can actually play WR. Robinson is like the perfect guy to takeover Banks role and can do much more. Briscoe is too good and young to let some one trick pony take his spot. That's how the NFL works. When your team gets better, tough decisions are bound to happen.

Yup, these are GOOD problems to have and rare ones the ******** haven't been faced with for years. We used to spend our Summers making commercials for Eastern Motors. :smh:

This coming from the guy that wrote a thread of how great of a blocking back Portis is.......LOL. Classic case of the pot calling the kettle black. AsFar as Cooley is concerned I don't think any team is that desperate iim. His Cooley's best bet is to start doing some Eastern Motors commercials to stay active.

And? Dispute my claim.

I've known for months that we were gonna cut Cooley and was totally in favor of it, heard about it today and still felt the same way. Got home just now and watched his press conference and it made me so damn sad about it. Divorcing myself from it emotionally I think it's the right move, but man I felt badly for him watching that. He really loved playing in this area and loved being a ******** even though we've been buns for most of his career. I definitely appreciate/respect a dude like that.

There's really nothing of substance to dispute champ. You were laughed out of your own thread, it was shut down before it even began . That's like me saying it's hot outside, even if that were the case.................so what. Yeah Portis might have been the best blocking back in the league but again...............so what. He never was the best running back in the league, never was a Top 3 running back, he's never going to be in the HOF so with all that combined once again.............so what. As far as I'm concerned it's GREAT news that Portis and Cooley are no longer ********, we don't need a bunch of dudes dressing up in disguises representing the area. Good riddance.

Crosstown beef!

Haha, this man thanked Cooley and said he was buns for most of his career in the same post. Quite true though....he had his moments.

Laughed outta my own thread? Is that supposed to hurt, Champ? Shoes made a joke, you saddled up on him like secretariat and rode it out. He's widely regarded as one of the best blocking RBs to ever play the game. Again, dispute my claim. You can't. I don't give a **** what you think about it.

No one ever said he was a top-3 RB...No one ever said he was going to the HOF. So, I'm not sure what you're getting at. Actually, I do. In your pea-brain, things make sense. So much so, that you feel the need to post like people would actually agree with you - when it's further from the truth. Your opinion means jack **** to me. Nothing. Nada.

Portis had an amazing 7 year run and will go down as one of the best RBs in franchise history. NOTHING can be disputed on that.

As far as I'M concerned, no one cares what you're concerned about. Like Cooley/Portis being in costume had any bearing on what people thought about DC. LMAOOOO...c'mon now. It's a new chapter for the Skins - one which hopefully trends upwards. Cooley/Portis are gone, but their overall contributions won't be forgotten by the fans here. Two of the best players in the history of the franchise.

*edit* Totally forgot about Portis' All-Pro selection in 2008. He was one of the better RBs in the league for a stretch.

As mad as you are or might be with your response you said alot of nothing. Which is the equivalent to that of the careers of both Portis and Cooley. Portis being one of the so called "best blocking running backs ever in the leauge" and Cooley being one of if not the slowest tight end's to ever play the game. As far as I'm concerned both of these individuals are right where they need to be as far as the NFL is concerned and that's out of a job. At the end of the day DoubleJ's, you my friend are cheerleading for 2 average players that played for an average franchise. Now if you want to take that to the grave with you, be my guest.

Not getting into this anymore.

So excited to see the backups fight for life on the roster. I hope they light up the scoreboard.
