Japan's NHK has followed up The Hollywood Reporter's earlier indications Toshiba was ready to dump its money-losing HD DVD business, with news that the company is prepared to cease manufacturing software and hardware, at a loss of hundreds of millions of dollars. This caps the worst week ever for red, when HD DVD was dumped by Netflix and Wal-mart, pushed to the background by Best Buy and put on -- an apparently incredibly short -- deathwatch right here. Toshiba is mum on the subject right now, but we hear there's plenty of cheap players and movies in a dumpster around back of the HQ.

Update: Along with an English translation of the NHK's article (Thanks sfditty!) comes additional confirmation from Reuters sources, it's a wrap. Toshiba is shutting down its DVD manufacturing facilities in Aomori Prefecture, Japan, while official word is expected "soon".

This happen to me yesterday and I called microsoft and they told me I was out of warranty and nothing cant be done but send it in to get repair. I said okand they said 100 bucks. I went to gamestop bought me another used system for 200 and called it a day. But I plug my bad xbox and turned it on and Im going toleave it like that until I get the red light.

It's official, Activision is bringing back the Vigilante 8 franchise, with developer Isopod Labs bringing a remake of the decade-old original to Xbox Live Arcade this Spring. How were you blasted? You said it was inferior... It isn't inferior... The fact HD DVD lost was that the studios slacked and the advertising sucked ingeneral for HD DVD...
 
Hey fellow COD players, how do get other "gold" weapons? I've been on my 2nd teir of Level 55 and I need some challenges...I don't feel likeleveling up again. Any help would be great!

You have to max out all your weapons

Assault= Gold Ak

Sniper= Gold Dragunov

Smg= Gold Uzi

I forgot what the machine gun is called but its the last one you get and there is a gold shotty as well

I never said it was inferior.

I said it would be a waste of money to support a product that isn't going to have longevity (given the reports of companies going blu-ray only).

People thought I was making assumptions about hd-dvd dying, and that it could still have a chance. I said it was highly unlikely.

But I never said it was inferior. The only thing inferior about it was its lack of support and sales compared to blu-ray.
 
anyone need a 20GB HD for their 360? if so get at me, ive got a BRAND NEW one i just cracked open from my new 360 and i dont need it

The Falcons are in any Elite you can find... They have the highest reliability of any 360... You have like a .0000001% chance of getting RRoD with aFalcon...
