I been in the game, known as JORDANHEAT before the YUKU switch.

Just getting thoughts about why many new school jordan heads, mostly 35 years old or younger are somewhat hateful on the
"retros" being released.  regardless of colorway, why not just be stoked the OG numbers are still being offered.

I have OGs from the 80's & 90's, then the 1st Gen retros and so on.

I just keep collecting.  Especially when the OG colorways Drop, thats what I cop.

my OG's while sentimental, are hardly what i would consider 100% wearable.

many are indeed VNDS or DS.  however, they prolly wouldnt last a couple full court runs...or daily use.

therefore, i am glad NIKE / JB will drop these OG colorways and allow me to stay fresh since 1985.

If all my J's could have the NIKE on them and so on..that would be dope..but thats not gonna happen.

Buy what you like..keep collecting, and keep breaking them necks.

P.S.

ya'll try not to hate on this..just give me your thoughts as a fellow collector.

This is exactly how i feel id love for them to never stop coming out to see my son grow up and apreciate his jordans (if he even wants to wear them lol maybe will all be rocking air mags by then) hes got no choice now.....but for him to actually understand and know what he is wearing is timeless style that will neve die would make life bitter sweet .........a man can only hope his boy will be just like em right?

prices and quality don't match up
long lines for shoes that should be easily attained, but aren't because of beasts and resellers
shady marketing schemes
not staying true to the original formula
a combination of some or all of the things listed above

i'm sure there are many others and i would love feedback as well

So true!! This game has been changed a lot, not because of hypebeast. But marketing schemes.
On the other hand, rocking a nice kicks out got way more attention than before.

I just dont like the fact they JB be releasing retros every month. Stagger them! But personally, I feel that the quality is wack...

I hate the quality, avg hypebeast/reseller and unnecessary gimmicks (i.e. special packaging/box) everything else don't bother me not one bit (OG head here)

I guess you can say that I've been around for awhile...

And as diehard as I am with Air Jordans, I'd still like to see them slow down a bit. back in the early to mid 2000's there wasn't ONE Air Jordan Retro I missed (most were even bought in doubles!). Then came the onslaught of Retro 1's releasing. It got to a point where they flooded the market so much with 1's, that it was impossible to keep up. So then I decided that I'd only get the I'd I really really liked and skip the others.

I've kept up with about 90% of the rest of the numbers but now-a-days that's even proving impossible. I've still only missed a handful of Air Jordans in the past 6 years but I'm at a point in my life that it may be time to hang it up for good. There's no end in site with JB and with every shoe either being retroed a 2nd or 3rd time, it's clear that I'm always gonna have my favorites on hand.

havent been buying shoes for much long, started in 2004 when i made my own money, age 14. I agree with you about the OG release. Love the fact that the color way is releasing. hate the fact that the quality is way below standard, feel like fakes from 2004 and some worse. i guess nike knows people will buy the shoe and keep them over time to so there made cheaply to keep demand up. i already stop buying JB releases. There is no point of getting JB sneakers for the simple fact of getting them, you need great luck or a connect or shell out the extra 50-100 dollars plus the yearly price increase on the shoes themselves. :smh:. feel so bad for the new generation, i thought i seen bad release's like the OG DMP's.

we've seen almost all the original colourways of the 1-14's so many times, more often than not these days i am more excited by a retro+ spin.

I wish JB could slow down..Cause their throwing too much og color ways at us...I wish they could give us some new stuff. Don't get me wrong, I love the OG color ways but i wouldn't mind Getting some new colors on my J's.

The benefit of this is that when they were being retroed the first time around you didn't know if you were ever going to see them again. Now, you know that in 1-3 years you'll see the same pair, so in the long run, sure they are not the quality that we have come accustomed to but we are now able to actually wear the shoes for the love of the shoes and not have to baby them, worrying that they may never make it out again. I just wish that we could get quality and still see them come out on a regular basis.

Market been flooded....

Back when Jordan actually hooped and they released one new Jordan model a year...and they sprinkled in a couple of retros each year, things were good. The anticipation was better, now it is too much....tacky, poor quality mass produced commercialized garbage.

I only come out for OG colorways. I do have an "End", and that would require having all OG colorways in every model.

Great post!! BUY WHAT YOU LIKE DON'T BUY THE HYPE!!!!!!!!!

Trust me. I understand some complaints like the nike air. But some changes are needed. Times have changed so knowledge and technology has changed. If these shoes were true og form (especially 1-11) they would be hurting your feet much more than they do. An interview was done years ago talking about some issues like the elephant print. It will never be the same elephant print because of the material at the time. I know I am in the same boat. Most of my og's I sold because they were crumbling and unwearable. I pick up now to restock on my collection. Most are actually better in the comfor area (my aj 1, 12, 11, 2 and 8's all feel better than my og's did. My retro 4' s from 2006 actually are worse. I think jb noticed that they can't skimp in certain dept which is why we are seeing some re-releasing with bettter material

Nah, Jordan pushing more releases and flooding the market with colorways is the best way to extinguish the beast, not fuel it. It's an ongoing process and I'd say we're in year 2 of 3. In 2014 things will die down some. From 2011-2013 (and even back to 2010) we'll have seen most every OG colorway retro'd. Right now the thirst is so high and this is so popular within cultural fashion trends that the best thing that can happen is oversaturation in the number of models and colorways hitting retailers. Imagine if they slowed down releases right now, they'd become even more hyped and sought after. It won't stay this high forever (there was a lot of interest in Jordans still up until 2000-2002 and then it died down for awhile, and has since ramped up to new levels) so for me it's a waiting game. In the mean time there's a lot of good releases that have still been relatively easy to cop and enjoy. JB kills it from 2010-2013 and then starts to slow down a little bit as demand falls back to earth. It will happen, but just not overnight.

@Rob1, trust me. I have been wearing jordans since the late 80's bro. Comfort has def come a long way. Materials not always, but comfort has been for the better. If you wore an og pair of 1 or 2's, I guarantee you will feel every part of the concrete and begging to take them off.

i couldn't agree more, i love how they retro OG color ways because it gives you a second chance to actually rock them, besides quality and all that nowadays i think its great

im only 20 and ive been wearing jordans since day 1 thanks to my dad so i really like that jb is releasing all the OG colors

that way i can pick up all the shoes i've had growing up. i do understand people that dont like them being released so often

but its a good chance for people that missed out on the previous release. i just wish there wasnt so many "trend" followers

that way i could get the pairs i want

I used to buy color ways I liked cuz retro + colors were nice and simple, but after a point they began looking too cluttered and gimmicky. I'mnot really into Jordans anymore but I just want a few of my grails and i'm out. Sneaker game is all bad, not just resellers but Nike in general poor quality kills my interest.

idk about all this. the first wave of retros was a lot more comfortable than the current joints..especially the first retro 12s..those were heaven.
