Anyone have any advice on how to get my dog to stop barking?

Backstory: me and my roomate have 2 english bulldogs that're rescues. The girl is about 2 yrs old, the boy is about 4 yrs old. At night they sleep in my roomates room. He wakes up super early in the morning. When he leaves he puts them in their crates b/c they tear **** up if they aren't watched. I work late, so the time difference btwn when he leaves and I wake up is 4 hrs. During that 4 hrs they're in the crate the girl does nothing but bark the entire time. Not b/c she needs to use the bathroom or anything, just b/c she wants my attention. The boy he's fine, doesn't care at all. However, I need some sleep! Any advice on how to get her to be quiet?

Also, the 4 hrs is really the only time they're in the crate. Once I wake up either me or my roomate is home until bedtime so they can roam the house.

cj003 cj003 Some dogs just don't do well in crates, especially if they were crate trained young. Anywhere you can put them without confining them to the crate like a kitchen or large bathroom with a baby gate?

Yea it seems like she was kept in a crate way too long at the place she was born at. Some backyard breeders neglected her and kept her in a crate all day. I tried the kitchen which even gives her access to the backyard. Still doesn't work. I think it has to do with she knows I'm home and wants to be around a human. I'd love to let her in my room when I sleep, but I'm a light sleeper and she snores way too loud!

I was really shooting for a Frenchie but just couldn't justify the price tag...found a Frenchie/Boston Terrier mix (Frenchton) near me that was born May 1st.

The breeder has been sending me pics weekly, can't wait to meet her.

Might be my last night with my boy. He's not eating and can barley stand on his own. Vet said either twisted stomach or tumors but at this stage he's to weak to survive the surgeries. Tomorrow will see if he wakes up better or not. They did an IV and a bunch of booster shots and vitamin shots. Sucks to see him like this.

Having a daughter soon and I'm still hoping he'll be around to play with her

Sorry to hear that man...hope for the best, but if he's not better you gotta do what's best for him and free him of his pain.

Been 8 months since my mom had to put her (ours) dogs to sleep. Still think about them everyday

I feel the same way... Human or dog, if the pain is there no way I would let them suffer especially if the vet says its not looking good

Ya what's best for him has always been #1. Just sucks to lose my buddy but it sucks even more to see him now compared to how I remember him. Gonna miss all the funny random things he'd do. He really has a personality.

Hope your dog can get at least a little better. Thats sad to hear man, wish dogs lived longer. How old is he?

He just turned 8 April 30th.

lpheat22 lpheat22 So sorry to hear man... I hope today was better... But if not, just know that you're doing the right thing for him. And although it sucks, letting him go and not suffer is showing your love, even if it does not feel that way

A dog's life is entirely too short..

Chevy passed away this morning around 7:45 am. He spent his last night in bed with us and he cuddled up next to my girl and I. She said he put his paw on the side of her belly and then our daughter started moving around almost like they were playing. I'm glad he's not suffering anymore but it was an experience having him pass in front of me. I'm going to miss him.
