I feed both my frenchies raw. Me and my lady decided to go through reel raw for their food. it comes with prepackaged servings and a variety of meats. you can also choose between whole bone or ground in bone. you simply give them your dogs info (estimated adult weight) and the food shows up in either 2 weeks worth or a months worth. it's definitely made feeding them raw simple

Thanks man, repped. So it's as simple as telling them my dog's breed, size, age, etc and they send me all necessary items? Kind of like one of those Jenny Craig diet plans? 

 If so, I wouldn't mind starting off that way. Then as I get the hang of it I can branch out a bit.

lol, yup they make it pretty much idiot proof. pretty much just defrost and feed. one packet equals one days food. we just split it into two feedings

Really depends.

We buy Eukanuba for my husky.

But he doesn't really eat. We usually just feed him dinner, 1-1.5 cups of dry food mixed with a can of wet.

He's ~60 lbs.

my pups are at about 15 and 18lbs. the younger one should end up at about 20. since the food comes pre packaged I don't have to measure anything out and really don't know exactly how much they're getting fed reel raw asked for my pups estimated adult weight and they sent the appropriate amount of food. typically a 20lb pup should get about 9-10 ounces of raw food per day. cost is about $125/mo for a 20lb pup

it was crazy to see how fast feeding them raw made a difference. their coat got really soft and shinny within a couple weeks. they also poop a lot less and it comes out dry and hard and decent smell as bad

Hey fellas,

Does anyone here have a dog that's on the larger size (say Corgi or bigger) and walks their dog in the dark, either before sun up or sun down? It would be awesome if you're in the greater Los Angeles area, but not required. I would like your input on something and most likely give something to try. Thanks!

I do. I walk my husky pretty late at night, 11 PM and afterwards.

With this raw dog food, it'll be $4.94/day

Yeah, its not cheap by any means, but keep in mind that this is for a prepackaged service. You can always get the meat from a butcher for a lower price. The only problem with that is that its a lot more work. You have to find the correct ratio of meat/bone/organs to feed your dog.

I had been interested in feeding my dogs raw since I got my first pup 2 1/2 years ago, but was overwhelmed by the amount of info out there and how complicated it seemed. The prepackaged company made it simpl,e defrost and feed. so I don't mind spending a little more. Also now when I tell people that my dogs eat better than I do I'm not lying

How was the transition to raw? I've read some posts about how some dogs didn't really fully adjust to it. Some owners had to sub in the raw slowly into the diet.

Yea I think finding a balance somewhere comfortably between the cost of organic kibble and the cost of prepackaged raw is where I would like to be before I dive in..$100+ a month is pretty steep for food coupled with all other needs that my puppy will have over the next few months. I have been trying to find friends in the area who have experience feeding raw that can possibly coach me into a good process..no luck so far but I definitely will be implementing raw foods early in her life.

Nawzlew the transition was pretty easy. the company recommended skipping dinner one night and starting raw the next day. the only problem encountered was that some of the meats were so rich and my pups eat so damn fast that they ended up regurgitating it. Luckily it was an easy fix, meals simply get broken into 3 feeding over 15-20min. the main thing that freaked me out about raw feeding was the possibility of choking on a bone. especially since my frenchies are on the smaller side. Luckily the company offers a ground in bone option.

If you're doing the raw food... They recommend sticking with one protein at a time, throwing all the proteins at once will cause stomach/digestion problems

I might be moving with my girl soon, so I'll be saving a lot money on other expenses... I'll be more than glad to spend it on giving my dog better food

My family always cooked food for our dogs. Obviously don't season it like we would for ourselves but you know what I mean. Dogs love it and we have an old school vet that does the same and agrees with our strategy.

I should have been more clear on the transition. my dogs weren't fed kibble. they were eating wet food. the sausage like rolls. also the company sent over the first months worth of food numbered for every day. the first week and a half was chicken the it was a weeks worth of something, then a weeks worth of something else (can't remember what they were). now the packages come in numbered as the order doesn't matter. they also get a wider variety of proteins 6-7 a month.

I'd love to feed raw and have looked into it, but as discussed, you really have to know what you're doing as far as the ratios go if you aren't getting prepackaged. My concern is that he wouldn't be getting all the nutrients he needs if ratios were off. Then you have to source it, and the butchers at chain stores aren't really competitive, it seemed to be just as much as the pre packed. And with a 65lb dog I'm not sure how messy non pre packed would be? So he's still on kibble. Considered going to an even higher quality but $80-100 for a bag of dog food just seems excessive and I'm not sure that it would be more than marginally better in terms of quality.
