Official Trinidad James Thread

Lil B was put on by Too $hort and has been rapping with The Pack years before Soulja Boy got big.

Im not talking about The Pack.

Im talking about the viral marketing and myspace/twitter promotion that Lil B used to get big as a solo artist. Whether he got it from soulja or not. Soulja Boy was the first artist to use the internet to get big independently.

Joe Budden don't cry because you a little *** boy
Go make a mixtape and mope over every song
Keep recording girlfriends bet you still jack off
With your butt-cheeks out listening to mood music
Screaming, "Lil b why the **** you gotta ether me"

This aint about honest and humble tho.  Theres alot of honest and humble people that can't rap and he's one.  Why is his whole "image" and gimmick being forced upon us?  Because he's a good dude? I doubt that.  Less style more substance is needed.  And I can't wait until he's signed and no longer "indie" so people can't stop believe what he's doing is possible without alot of help
forced down your throat? lol

how,dough?

and why are you wasting your time typing out paragraphs if you cant stand him?

themack10threadsthatwayb.
This is what bothers me. ****** can waste hundreds of words and vitriol on people they can't stand. How about focusing energy on stuff you actually like.

I ***** with a few songs by him, but bruh can't rap. For the most part I've steered clear of this thread, but if you don't like his music, just leave it alone. That can be applied in other facets of life too.
I can voice my opinion on whoever I want.  I'm not "wasting energy". I'm speaking on a public forum about a new artist. So now we can't even voice our opinions on people?  The rap game getting soft.  Rap fans can't share an opinion of an artist now if its not "love" ?  Radio host can't ask rappers to spit a 16...you know actually rap.  Its a joke now and I'm tired of it.  Sorry I care who I let represent me and my culture.  When you let any clown in and plaster them on the big screen without them having talent or earning anything its a bad look for the rap game as a whole.  I'm not leaving it alone.  I'm voicing my opinion.  If you wanna be a rapper then bring something to the table. Dude makes 2 chainz look like Em.  Thats how bad he is.  I'm not even a hard critic but I can't rock with dude being thrown in the limelight.  He's in magazines, doing the NYC radio circuit, etc...and only rapping for 10 months?  C'mon man ya'll really buying this garbage.  I feel like some old white man is laughing in his office at us right now.

You chose to click on this thread link. You chose to respond multiple times. You chose to listen to his music to see what everyone's talking about. You choose whether you watch dudes video on MTV. You choose whether or not you turn the radio station when they play his songs.

How is any of this being forced on you?

Dudes really have that much resentment for a dude that's just out there making music and getting recognized for it. Especially when you're convinced he won't be around long? Why was energy knocking a temporary figure? Some of you all just sound corny. Let dude rock.

My voice is my right.  Its like voting.  Its the 1st amendment.  Also like I said I care about rap/hiphop and who we let in.  This is a slippery slope.  One day we gonna have a "rapper" named Big Tooth McDickface and he won't even rap he'll just hum to the beat and have ad-libs.  And dudes will say "oh hes hot stop hating"....I'm sorry but I would like to see talent and rhyming ability.  I listen to alot of music and I'm not down with the talentless representing this culture maybe you are.

You don't realize the images and music that gets put out to the world represents us.  this generation. this era of young black men.  I honestly feel sorry for a dude like G.o.D Jewels who has 20 times the talent than this dude.

I would agree with you if the industry didn't have a substantial amout of dudes that have great lyrical content. And it's not just the vets like Nas, the Roots, out Outkast. New dudes come into the game every year carrying on the true essence of hip hop/rap. Peep J Cole, Kendrick, Joey Bad*****. The game is not lacking substance fam. It's there.

With that said, I'd rather a dude like James get shine than any dude out there perpetuating the glorification of drug distribution. Not because they're lying 9 times out of 10. But they're out there on these tracks that make the idea of being a drug dealer seem like something that should be explored. Not only are there young guys out here losing their lives trying to live the lives they hear in these rhymes, but look at what the drugs they glorify have done to the community as a whole. "Slangin dope" is something that can be thought of as 100x more detrimental to the image of the black community, yet Hov still raps about it, Jeezy still raps about it, Ross still raps about it... the list goes on.

So how can you legit knock a dude like TJ for putting out turn up music (albeit advocating the use of MDMA) with no indication of him saying he's super lyrical, while giving other guys who also have a hand in painting a negative picture of our community.

Theres plenty of young dudes/ new artist that rap with talent that don't glorify drugs.  They just aren't on the mainstage.  I wanna see more J.Coles than Trinidad James'. Honestly I'll take more Ross' and Meeks because they HAVE TALENT.

I don't care about Trinidad's real life, his clothes, or his story.  He's nothing more than a party/swag rapper.  You talking about drugs but your man is famous for saying "popped a molly" c'mon fam.

Dude isn't my mans, I literally just downloaded the tape 3 minutes ago. I'm just saying I don't understand the negativity dude is catching. So what if he puts out party/swag music. There's nothing wrong with that. Rap needs that. People need that. There's nothing wrong with taking a break from thought provoking lyricism for some ignorance. And I mentioned dude's reference to MDMA already. Rapping about popping a Molly is still better than rapping about selling drugs that lead to the destruction of the black community you mentioned.

I'm not about to go back and forth. I stopped debating music because no one ever wins. Suffice to say you have your preferences/opinions, and that's cool. You think dude doesn't deserve his shine, other people rock with it. Simple as that.

Glorifying drugs is even worse if you are a user rather than a seller.

getting daps cause of a cypher =/= a hit record

dropping a handful of critically acclammed mixtapes > 1 hit record
I don't think he's only had 1 hit record, but if you do, it's still not the point, that's not how anyone that listens to hip hop should categorize him.
just means you've been sleeping on hiphop and repeating what other people are saying.
Or it means I don't like HIM (& his attention *****/ cry baby ways) or his BORING music.

But everybody doesn't have to like the same sh*t.

you don't have to like him, I said I'm not even motivated to listen to his last project, but to label him by "hit records" is missing the point.
that's not what he stands for, even if you dislike him.
he's someone that made an album on a major, was dropped, signed to the roc, dropped, and kept in the loop independently all the while having a mixtape buzz over lyrics.
that's my argument.

:smh: :smh:

This is what I hate. I like some of the same things yall do. Gucci, Waka etc. Difference is I don't call it ignorance cause I can see the music is deeper than that and speaks about the community. My problem isn't people calling it ignorance. You have your opinion. But to call it ignorance AND then consume it? :x

It's like me being a non-christian having pre-marital sex. Nothing wrong with it. But to be Christian and know you're not following the code? Yall just poisioning your own body and don't love yourself.

/rant

This has nothing to do with TJ by the way, just hate when people call stuff they enjoy "ignorant"

Ignorance in regards to the subject matter on which some artists are confined to in comparison to the artists known specifically for their proclivity to produce deeper, thought provocative music.

I specified TJ as a turn up rapper, which is what I was essentially arguing. Perhaps calling it ignorance wasn't the most tactful of word choices, but it ties in to the concept I was talking about.

I just don't correlate swag, party, drugs & alcohol with ignorance. To me Rick Ross is ignorant the way he glamorizes a lifestyle without broadcasting the knowledge and wisdom behind it. Whether knowingly or unknowingly his music is still ignorant. There's nothing ignorant about "I'm doing drugs at the club with 5 women". Lacking substance? Depends how deep they go explaining why they enjoy that lifestyle. It's just a pet peeve of mine that I've been quiet on but I feel it needs to be addressed. If you believe what you're consuming is ignorance STOP CONSUMING.

I'll give you that. Lacking substance was definitely the better word choice.

All my other arguments remain the same, though.

I can say this..he wasn't ready for the NYC radio gaunlet after watching the Hot 97 and breakfast club interviews.  His real person "swag" doesn't match his "rapper/clothes" swag.

MIMS> T. James

This ***** is certainly acting.

Based on them VLOGS I was expecting him to be alot more quick witted in them interviews.

Yes, you can voice your opinion. You can do whatever you feel fam. My point was just more on refocusing energy on some stuff we like, this **** is tired as hell though. ****** act like they are the torchbearers to all things "real" in hip-hop and rap music, but that **** don't exist bruh. It's all subjective. It took me a few years to realize how snobbish I acted toward mainstream music and stuff other people liked. Sometimes its best to agree to disagree, listen to what you like, check out artists with hype to see what it's about, and move on.

And that "my culture" stuff is some BS though, we (black people) don't even own hip-hop, but that's another discussion...

I dig Trinidad James. Yes the music and the regular dude in the interviews.

But I'm not feeling his new flow on this track the Gucci one. The yelling has got to stop
