GRADUATE STUDENTS OF NT

you know GODDAMB well if you stay at SMU.. you're as good as gold here in dallas...

Had a talk w/ momb dukes earlier...

So when i was a young Font****...

My momb was finished up her bachelors. my brother had all kinds of sports practices, and my dad and grambs would go scoop him up, take him, etc.

But young font**** didnt want to go to the practices and games and stuff.

my dad told me that she took me up to campus with her for class once, told me to sit down and color, and she just took notes during the lecture...

So, imagine a 3 year old sitting in the back of a college classroom, coloring and looking at picture books.

I think that's why i have no problems going to school. i love the environment. I dont want to do it for job prospects alone. i just like doing it. I've legit considered being an adjunct professor once i get things rolling.

plus i could get young co-eds to deliver some "extra credit" nom'sayin'?

Mom dukes started me off right.

:pimp: :pimp:

Just came across something called the Riordan MBA fellowship.

It's basically a year long process and helps you apply for UCLA...

All my LA cats should look into it.

I'd do it but i live in Texas. :frown:

I did the Riordan MBA Fellowship. It is extremely similar to MLT , in fact its actually older than MLT. It isn't just for LA people , I  live in Michigan and I flew back and forth for the 9-10 months the program took to complete.  Just as MLT you do a bunch of activities that are geared towards helping you build a stronger b school application. The two are great programs for resume stamps, but majority of the people who apply to either program, usually already have the stats ( aside from GMAT) to get into a top 20 program.

Interesting story Ricky. It's good your fam exposed you to education early, I've always believed that in our community (AA) we need to expose our children to learning at an early age. A lot of parents don't do that ****.

damn.

You had money to fly back and forth?

fa sho. What school did you end up going to?
I'm at Michigan working on my Master of Urban Planning degree. Considering doing a dual MBA though. Not sure yet. The way Michigan is set up , grad students can take courses in any other department. I'm really into social entrepreneurship and real estate development so it would make sense, but I have a meeting with Ross this week so we will see. I can't speak for other schools but once you are in a grad program at Michigan it's fairly easy to add a dual degree, just the question of do I want to spend another year in school.

Question is a laptop necessary for an MSW? Need a new computer for school &really contemplating getting an imac bc I hate the laptop experience :x Any recs?

Does having 1 "W" on your transcript look bad when submitting it for grad school? I'm a junior in college right now but taking senior level courses and I feel so burnt out/unmotivated. Really would like to drop the class and just take it next Spring with my PPA class.

I had two Ws. But my GPA was a 3.56. Still got accepted.

yup

I would say that you should try to avoid it, or have a good reason to explain it on your applications. Pretty much depends on what you wanna do and how competitive the programs are.

Well I'm in a accounting program for school (PPA: Professional Program for Accounting) and there are specific classes that my director wants us to take each semester so that everyone in the program takes it together. The class that I'm trying to drop is a class that my director wants us to take next spring while we do our internship instead of earlier. So, I guess that could be my reasoning? The program also lets me graduate with a masters in a total of 5 years (4 years under grad, 1 year grad) instead of the normal 6. And if it matters, my GPA right now is a 3.5.

I dunno. I would still try not to drop it. But if you're feeling burned out, and its going to affect your grade in the class, drop it now, and kill it next year.

Question. I am considering going back to school to get my MBA (I have a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering) and I would like to start in Fall of 2016. If I take my GMAT's this May, I should have enough time to complete applications by this Fall right?

I'll stick to it and see how well/bad I do on my 1st exam and then think about it...thanks for the help.

depends on what type of program you want ...

Ifbyoire just trying to get an MBA, then you're fine.

But honestly, any MBA outside of the top 20-30 and they won't help you too much in your career if you're not already in it, or on a fast track.
