GRADUATE STUDENTS OF NT

MBA tuition is nuts. A friend of mine has to pay $90K out of pocket for a PT/EMBA to cover what his employer won’t cover. Even if you make good money that is still a good chunk of cash.

If you go to a top 25 that is expected - had a friend do FT @ Haas WHILE working - got laid off and the company ASKED for what they had already contributed BACK since he wouldn’t have a role moving forward and

Man that’s ridiculous. Hope he fought that since he didn’t voluntarily leave.

Forgot about this thread. Finished my MBA in December :smokin

Glad to be done with group work finally. Capstone was a pain to get through but that feeling after finishing the presentation after 2.5 years was good. Did take a while to adjust to having more free time.

If I did continue schooling I think it would be for a JD vs. a Doctorate/Phd in Business Admin I was originally thinking. Big IF. For now I’m taking a break and focus my time and energy (and money) on more fun things.

Congrats!!

Im definitely going to stop after this MBA is complete. Probably shouldnt have went this far. I am an absolutely terrible student lmao. I basically have permanent senioritis.

Got to link up with the majority of my cohort for a 1-credit course which was just a few days in DC. Awesome experience and was happy to meet everybody in person since we are online

That’s dope. My program was hybrid so I was flying into the DMV every couple months for in-person sessions. The classes and case studies were cool but the networking aspect was by far the most important.

To anyone else considering an online program, make an effort to meetup in person with some of your classmates.

I agree. Definitely wish ours happened earlier in the program (2nd or 3rd semester) and I gave that feedback as well. Was awesome to meet them, we had a group of like 10 of us that really meshed well. Got LIT out there lmao

Some of our professors, alumni, and other VT admin came to the little happy hour party at Ballston Local, was really cool chopping it up with them. We had guest speakers and tours/visits. Im tryna get to 500 linkedin connections so i was eating it up 😂😂😂

How is everybody holding up in their programs?

Last semester man, May cannot come soon enough

This entire Master's program was rough but I've made it into the Winter term of my second year. From health issues to an apartment flood and family stuff, it's been terrible for the most part. My program is thesis-based so I'm not done until July/August. At this point I just wanna get this over with lol

I might apply for a PhD in the future, but it's doubtful and definitely would not be for at least a couple of years

Graduated with my MBA on Sunday on Sunday. 2 years flew by! When my MBA program started in 2021, my daughter was 4 months old and now she is 2 years old. It was a grind and I lost a lot of sleep but it was definitely worth it.

Congrats! We might have to hop on a zoom call one day and discuss programs. Very interested in getting some perspective on what I missed by not going to an elite school like Darden

I took the fam to some wineries in Cville on my way home from my graduation. Love that area

I just got accepted to the Fall 2023 to Simmons University for Library Science!

I haven't been in school for 10 years since my graduation in 2013. What do I need to bring to class? Is a laptop enough? Do I need an iPad? Help! I am so freaking nervous!

Congrats.

I feel like this is all program/degree-specific. Whether it’s annotating PowerPoints in the notes section, or using a program like notability on your iPad to directly take notes/highlight slides, or even using a tool like anki to create flashcards.

Ideally you’d get put into contact with a higher-achieving student or students in your program maybe through a club or program chair and see what they do. Or try finding out on Reddit. Unless ofc someone has recently studied Library science in this thread.

I’d say worst case if you don’t already have an iPad/Apple Pencil then before prematurely making that investment just see if you can get away with using your laptop. Either way gl, you’ll be gucci.
