Just saw this tattoo on Instagram from Clae Welch. Thought it was super sick. Always like the design of cards. A king tattoo or a suicide jack woudl be super dope.

I would never get a tattoo from an artist who isnt tatted up.

I feel like to be a tattoo artist, you need to have your "right of passage" by getting tatted (heavily) first.What would it matter if his portfolio was amazing?
Besides, show me an artist with an amazing portfolio who isnt tatted up (or has very few tattoos).

I like it a lot. Seems to flow with the other tattoo, which I assume was a different piece from the top right? I think it looks good together.
I finally get some more color on Friday. Hope to do about 4-5 hours again. Can't believe I'll have spent almost $1900 after that and I still won't be done. Damn.......

I disagree, being "tatted" up does not mean an artist has skill with the machine, although you wont find many artists who aren't heavily inked

Turning 18 in two months. What are some good artist in the Bay Area that are very comfortable with black and white art. It's a tattoo of a girl looking into a mirror (in the mirror is a little girl holding a red ballon) that ballon will be the only color in the picture.

I posted his stuff a page back. Love the guy but this is coming from someone that likes skating and graff, so I don't think his work is for everyone. He has sort of a Rat Fink style where everything is cartoonish and caricatured and colorful. I would get work by him if I wasn't so pigeon holed into only getting a specific style and if my skin was lighter. It seems his work really shows best on some milky white skin since he does full color.

Thats how I feel. He does great work, his line work is amazing,
but depending on what u want it may come out too cartoonish.
I haven't seen too much black & grey work from him which is what
I would get done. Come to think of it, I haven't seen him tattoo any
people of color really.

3 1/2 hours of work. Not a whole lot of progress but it's getting there. Still no pupils on the eyeballs. Haha. Wondering if that is Lango's insurance policy. It won't be done until eyes are there.

^^^^Naw man. Wanted to buy the print....not get it tattooed. The dragon is a long project. I would say many hours to go until it is actually done. Those windbars/clouds are going to be the death of me. I am actually pretty nervous getting that done.
And just wanted to post Tera Patrick's tattoo in progress (to make myself feel better). Look it how it didn't look much at first but when it was done, her tattoo looked awesome! I am hoping mine will have that same impact.
