***Official Tattoo Thread: Inked-4-Life Vol.2***

sunshine, just wondering, are you Cambodian?? i ask only because, as a cambodian person, i'm always interested in seeing what cambodian-related art folks get.

in any case, check out Tattoo Bandit at California King's Tattoo. One of the best cambodian artists i've seen.

No I am black. I grew up in multiple countries tho. Living mostly in Nigeria, Switzerland, England, and the US but I did have a short stay in Austria (about a year).

I am a multicultural individual and I appreciate art from all cultures, because I truly don't have a home. I was going to get a design like this to signify that (just the polar bear part).

But as usual I am far too dark. would only work if that tat was HUGE.

To say I am British is like saying I aint American and all those things and vice versa. Hell I tell people I am Cuban because Nigeria's ultimate goal is to embarrass all of us. Nigerians hate Nigerians, that's a whole different story. Since I have African features, I can pass off as a Cuban (after all they were Nigerian slaves)

Does he know khmer script? I'll have to check him out.

That polar bear artwork is dope, and actually it woudnt look bad as a tattoo.

How dark are you exactly? Post a pic. Arm pic, leg pic, whatever.

Where is this guy located and how do I get in contact with him? Doesn't seem like he responds to emails.

The best thing with anything is to just go to the shop and talk in person and with money in hand.

it'd be an 8 hour drive to toronto for me though lol

i am actually talking to another artist from there right now, but i rather go to the guy posted, because his work is a little better imo.

Ben Baller's chest tat, what calligraphy font is that? :nerd:

It's not really a font, more so a popular "Los Angeles" style script.

Edit: Not in SoCal, but check out Toby from Humble Beginnings(San Jose, CA) script. Looks a lot cleaner IMO

It's custom. All script writing should be custom work to the customers liking whether they want it simple, exotic, large, small, etc.

Ballers back tat is really good but his chest one doesn't seem on par:

A black Man's forearms will likely be the lightest part of their skin

You dont need a tattoo, you need some lotion.

J/p, but youre not as dark as you make it sound man. Wale looks darker than you, and he has quality tattoos. Granted his tattoos would look 20x better if it was on lighter skin, but nevertheless I woudnt make it so much a big deal as you do sometimes. You can get good work, just not in tiny details if you get what I mean. A super intricate tattoo with tiny tiny details woudnt be a good idea, but an overall large quality tattoo will still look quality.

IDK man. I took this one a while back. Same phone camera tho. It has a lot of megapixels but images don't come out nice if that makes sense. Bathroom light. My back and thighs, where I have gotten the most tats are darker.

The polar bear one would have to be my whole ribcage. Some tattoos I want large, like the octopus fighting the shark when I get my messed up tat on my back removed. The polar bear one aint one.

Just so we are clear I am not complaining about being dark. Im complaining about 99% of artist not knowing what they are doing on dark skin. Even in cities like Chicago and New York. The ones who are great don't give me or anyone else the time of day.

Still tho I am starting my sleeve Aug 15th. My new guy seems very confident in tattooing on dark skin tho.

Anyone ever have their lining on their tattoos raised? From time to time ill have certain outline lines raised (some sort of reaction) where I can feel the line. Its never the shading, just the outline. It gets a bit itchy and happens ever so often. I did a bit of research and its relatively normal and common. Happens more with my left arm than right arm, right now a good 3 x 3 inch portion of my shoulder is raised.

Happens from time to time to me. I noticed it happens on the more heavily shaded/black parts of the tattoo.

Freaked me out the first time it happened

I do. So far they are on my back and thighs. I also have the atomic structure of dopamine and serotonin on my shoulder (if I had a better camera that would be visible in the pic). I am getting my first "visible" tattoo Aug 15th.

EDIT: But I am getting the ones on my back removed because an artist who did a decent job on my first one ****** up my second one so I am getting my back lasered and redone.

So I'm getting tatted on Saturday and I am wondering what products do you all use for tattoo after care and what process (how often do you clean etc)? How do you all feel about wrapping and unwrapping every 3 hours for 2-3days thats what my boy does, but I'm not too sure about it. Just trying to make sure this tattoo heals correctly, because last time i had alot of scabbing I slacked on the after care

I'd worry about eating before a tattoo

A&D the aquaphor
I don't wrap it.
I clean it when I shower (twice a day)

Cool story

A&D or* Aquaphor for the first two days
Definitely don't wrap it that makes no sense.
Shower within 2-3 hours of getting the tat.
Clean it twice a day with gentle, non-exfoliating soap (like Dove)
Use UNscented Lubriderm after that. Some people prefer Aveeno but I dont like their brand at all.

Ask your artists recommendation after the session when they address after care.

My artist would just tell me to leave it wrapped through the first night then to wash it twice a day with antibacterial soap and just let it dry heal until the fourth day.  I know my skin would not fair well if it stayed wrapped any longer than that.
