***Official Tattoo Thread: Inked-4-Life Vol.2***

God damn, my Japanese tattooing is off today. Anyone know what the demon on the top right is called?

^^^For whatever reason, when I google that I get images of hannya masks. I just don't want to call the damn shop and ask for the wrong thing. I think you are right though.....thanks for that.

i mean they do go hand and hand hannya and oni, but if you are looking for a specific type of demon that would be tough, there is so many types.

Edit: looked into it, it may be Onibi which is a demon that comes in the form of an ogre head engulfed in flames

Fongstarr - Stewart is an amazing artist. Give him my best if you see him!

Man....I was so hyped in trying to get a tattoo from him but last minute out of no where, I backed off. I love his work but feel like a filler won't do his stuff justice. Plus I really didn't know where to get it, so by the end of it, I just let it go. Oh well.

Betts, you going to be at the convention this weekend?

I went yesterday. Sadly didn't really take any pics worth posting aside from my Instagram photo:

But I saw a lot of people there. Betts man......I saw your booth but didn't see you. I was actually only there for a few before I headed out to watch the Giants game. Just didn't pan out as I wanted but still got to see stuff. Saw Valerie Vargas and Stewart there. Pretty much all the guys on Vice's Tattoo Age were there from Smith Street guys, Invisible NYC, Rubendall, Mutso, Shige was there with Gogue, all the local guys in the Bay Area from Humble Beginnings, Skull and Sword, Black Heart, Idle Hands, Analog Tattoo, Everlasting.......guys from New Zealand and Hawaii and just tons of other stuff. I came with like $800 thinking I might do a walk in but didn't do it last minute. Saw some much merchandise there from cool hand painted signs, shirts and prints but still didn't get anything. Worth the $20 cover but wish I stayed longer.

Got a question about these conventions, if I walked in and saw Shige there I can start getting a tattoo from them without an appointment? How does it work with the artists that go there?

More than likely all those guys are booked way in advanced. I went to the convention 2 years prior and spoke to a guy there that was getting work done and he said the wait list was 3 years or something like that and that he only would get work done once a year which was at the convention. Other artists I imagine are the same but most others are all walk in style appointment if you go early and catch them before others do. Unfortunately the work isn't as tip top as it could just because of the time frame. I saw so many people at the convention that had work that looked like it amounted to tons of hours and thousands of dollars of work. Don't expect a jammer tattoo to be up to that caliber. That is why I was so hesitant at first. I knew I didn't want to get a quick tattoo by anyone locally but if there was someone from say Japan or London, that really was my only chance to get something from them without having to fly over to them personally.

one more session to go after this one. Touch up the buddha head, adding some green to the cherry blossoms , plus touch up the pink. Some waves at the bottom and towards the front bicept by the lotus

If they are available to tattoo, and you tell them
What you want and they are willing to do it right then and there, you're good. But most likely they are booked before hand. High profile artist are always booked.

Some high profile artists wont even do just any tattoo. It has to be something that they find interesting to do.

Anyone been watching Inkmasters? This season sucks. The challenges are actually interesting this time around but the artists are non-likeable at all. Every season theres usually a clear cut winner and a group of 2-3 people that are likeable (to an extent) and some fan favorites. This season there arent any fan favorites IMO, everyones a ***** or complains way too much. I liked the fire and passion in that Angel dude, only likeable person and his tattoos werent bad.

Hope next season is casted better. Even the top dogs this season are buns.

^^^^I don't watch InkMaster but a the convention this past week, there was this one guy that I was for sure was in some sort of reality show. I don't think anyone even cared about him to single him out as someone that is more important as the other guys there but by the end of it, I found out it was Chris Núñez. Haha.

I think they ruined Ink Masters this season by going with the "rivalry" angle. Should've just gone with the old formula. Challenges have been good, seems like they are scared of doing the same thing twice, when they should do it from time to time.

The way people act on that show is so lame. Acting like high school kids. They trying to bully my bae Julie. I was like why the hell they judging her on how she treated her client when the tattoo was good. They said that's the most unprofessional way they've seen a tattooer treat a client, I guess they forget their friend Ami James has cursed out clients before on his shows.

I've seen some biomechanical stuff that I liked before but I thought the tattoos in the last episode were ugly. Looked like just random looking shapes that weren't even aesthetically pleasing.

I can't believe that show is already at 5 season. Can you guys say that anyone from there came out famous? I think if anyone has had a strong career, it is Kat Von D but that is only cause she isn't even just known for just her tattoos no more.

I bet Oliver was glad he was all up in that when she still looked good and wasn't dirty. I read the rumors of her cheating on him with bam and other dudes.

Tatu Baby got nice cakes.

So many crappy artists on every season. They use the show just to add to their resume and get some extra clients.
