***Official Tattoo Thread: Inked-4-Life Vol.2***

Any recommendations on shops/artists in the LA area? First tattoo. Possibly Filipino tribal design on my shoulder. For my 30th bday.

 I'm getting old.

My brother's, mom's, and dad's name in Baybayin, which ancient Filipino script.

Looking to get another one, just don't know of what and where.. either on my back or chest.

That shouldn't even be looked as by the hour. That is just a $2K piece. Looks like top quality work. I'd be happy with that on my arm.

No lie, I'm beyond happy.

I don't know if I tipped well though

. I tried to google and ask around what a decent tip was, and the most common answer was "however much you feel is appropiate". So i just tipped 25%.

^^^^I have no clue but honestly I would have probably tipped half that without even knowing why. 25% is pretty damn nice if you ask me on top of the price he asked. That' is literally 2 months rent for me in 4 hours of work.

that's dope

I want my grandma, mom, and daughter birthdays in roman numerals on my side....not sure how I want it though

??? Of course it is. Been open for 5 years. I'm there almost every day.

Hmm my bad bro. Maybe it was the Trademark shop that I confused it with. I'm currently on the West Coast but when I get back to the DMV I will give the shop a call and try to set up an appointment. Thanks fam.

Not that one either, man. Trademark has been open almost 8 years. Give me a shout at either shop.

I never met the dude at Good Life Tattoo in SD but followed him a while on his personal blog and what not. For only tattooing for so long, dude has poly style tats on lock. I actually think he's a lot better than even my local tattoo artists that do that stuff. To top it off, the guy seems like a nice guy and is into the same hobbies as a lot of NTers whether it be photography, cars, shoes, etc. I might even get a tattoo by him just for the heck of it, and I hate poly tats. Haha.

Yo Betts, same with you man. Got to get inked up by you one day as well when you are back at Skull and Sword. I am not even a huge fan of black and white but it'd be rad to get something from an NTer.

Think I looked into Eric Marcinizyn a few months ago, but he had a long wait time. How long did you have to wait? Might just suck it up and wait it out honestly.

He didn't wait at all. He just saw he was in Chicago and he emailed him and told him he'd be there tomorrow or something. He was only doing flash though. Which is fine because they get to do their thing and make it :pimp:

Well, his actual wait time is almost 2 years.

Bang Bang (NYC) was taking deposits for him last week. I got an appointment in 1 day. The dude is beyond incredible, but don't take it from me since I don't know much about tattoo's nor do I have many tats.

Not having a lot of tattoos is great. You can get say one tattoo or so a year from your favorite artists. I don't want to run out of space.

Had a consultation today and I'm looking to get a design referenced from this. I really dig John Dyer Baizley's artwork...does anyone know of any modern artists that have a similar art nouveau style I could reference from?

Session #1 complete.

Gonna get some shading/touchups done after it heals in a few weeks. Alignment is a little off but im happy overall, nothing that a little shading won't fix

Probably going to fly out to Cali from dc in the next couple months to meet up with johnnytatt. I've been emailing him back and forth and you can check his work out on ig. He's a pretty good artist and doesn't have an absurd wait time. I'd be flying out for a couple days and then flying back so just needed to know how sessions work. Trying to get a half sleeve done. If he doesn't finish it all in day 1, is it possible to have him work on it the next day too? Or do I have to just let it heal and plan another trip back out to him?
