Li-Ning Thread

Idk if he'll be missed @ the JB but whatever he decides he'll still have fans to buying his sneakers do to being fan of his game... Li-Ning make nice hoop'n sneaker but JB should improve D.Wade shoe design also his sig. Shoes made to hoop'n.... Everyone want to see a better development
 
I can't help but think that all these up and coming Chinese brands will fade into obscurity in a few years. Nike/Jordan Brand DOMINATE the world basketball market with Adidas and Reebok a DISTANT 2nd and 3rd. Every other brand usually will get their 15 minutes of fame, but they eventually flame out.

Remember when And1 was HUGELY popular? Now you can't even find them in the top retail stores. Everyone thought Under Armour was going to finally make Nike sweat. Who they got besides Brandon Jennings? These Chinese brands are no different. Hell, alot of their signed athletes wear Nike/Adidas anyways, and only promote their Chinese Brands during marketing events. Sure, they may be popular in China (like And1 was in America) but they'll never be able to compete with the big dogs.

Not yet atleast.

Nobody is running out there looking to cop the latest Li-Ning's, Peaks, 361degrees or Anta's. Most you can't even buy in the states.

Brand Jordan's golden screw-up was giving the athletes that they contracted their own individual signature shoes. I've always felt that the marquee Athelete's that are signed to Brand Jordan should all be wearing the flagship Air Jordan signature shoe in their own team colorways.

The Melos, the Fly wades, and the rest shoes on that level of the Jordan shoe pyramid should be exclusive to elite college programs, and the lesser know stat sheet fillers of the NBA with less star power. You give these shoes the generic names like the Jordan tripple treat, the Jordan Swingman, the Jordan Fastbreak.

If D-Wade was associated with the Air Jordan sig shoe, I'm certain that Li- couldn't convence him to jump ship.

Still surprised at this move. :nerd: Granted his sigs were ugly, but him moving to Li-Ning isn't exactly an upgrade, imo. Plus, I don't see any longevity with them like with JB.
 
imo dwade wont leave unless the $$ is too good to turn down. heck it's a possibility he start wearing lebron's/nike sneakers
 
Look like JB is trying to save $ because the Wade line has been terrible in term of sale. Either that or Dwade is just tired of seeing his kicks end up being ugly time after time. Dude probably walked out of the meeting room when they show him the Wade 3. Lol

Couldn't agree anymore.  Sometimes having the name tied to the shoe is too restricting.  Recall in the 90's when Eddie Jones and Vin Baker had their sigs, it was labeled subtly. 

Anyways, when DWade does decide to leave, I wonder how the marketing will be done with no one carrying that 'torch" for Air Jordan's. 

The AJ2012 flopped, I don't recall anyone wearing them but Gerald Wallace and Dwade during ASG'12.

They actually had the perfect shoe to make that happen this year with the Jordan 2012 having the flight system. They could have heavily pushed the different setups for Wade, Melo and CP3 but thats a huge ball drop right there.

But also a lot of what makes the Jordan Retro line is how much input Jordan had on the process and how personal his shoes were. With recent sigs especially Wade's you really can't see any of that. The new designs lack story and inspiration and to me thats why they fail. The 'predator pack' idea pushed kobe sales and is a prime example of what a little inspiration could bring to pretty plain design.

Either have Wade push the 2013 next year or step up the designs simple as that.
 
The main reason for him to join some chinese brand is not the money for the contract but the publicity in China! Nike is sending all their top athletes there (every summer...) and the chinese fanboys are ripping them apart! If dwade, lebron, kobe...can establish some (longlasting) fame in Asia, they could stop playin ball in the US and just live of their fame in china...
 
JB has proved that its best days are faaaaaar behind it. the reason why wade shoes dont sell isnt because he sucks as a spokesman, but because his shoes are ugly. Melos/CP3 prob arent doing much better.

there are NTers that can design better shoes than the designers at JB

if jordan himself wore fly wades, melos or CP3s in his prime...Jordan brand wouldnt exist.

its the brilliant design of the shoes plus the man that made the line, not the endorser himself.

I really liked the fly wade line. The first one fit my foot really well and served as my backup shoe for most of last season. I don't think it'll be that much of a difference for Wade's shoes, Li-Ning makes great basketball shoes that are useless as casual sneakers, and Wade with JD had great basketball shoes that are useless as casual sneakers.
 
if i was dwade i wouldve signed to jordan brand just to milk them for all the free retros and PEs i could, once that slowed down i would bounce to another company for more money so i could spend that extra money on more retros and PEs

What makes you think he won't have access to retro product? On court PEs would be history, but I'm sure he'd be rocking retro and possibly PE product off court. He has all the necessary connects and it's free marketing on JB's behalf.

This is the truth here. If he's smart, he's definitely looking out for his post-NBA career with this move.
 
Righteously, his shoes suck. Even though I can't imagine his shoes being better @ li ning, its a fresh start from his jb bs
 
Fly Wade 2's have already been marked down since the summer . . .
 
Saw a few tweets that said this went down and he signed with li-Ning today. Could be false tho
 
JB should've had him wear the Air Jordan model as planned and maybe used the Fly Wade's as a team shoe of sorts under his name. I heard the Fly Wade 1 & Fly 23 were great shoes performance. The Fly Wade 2s look OK but I'm not sure I'd bite on those because Lunarlon doesn't have a long lifespan.
