Thought it started off pretty well, but lost steam midway through.

i'll probably give it a few more spins throughout the week and see if I feel any different about it.

I gotta say herb did not disappoint, I **** with this tape hard. Only duds to me are designer and ain't for none and that's more about the hook.

I'll probably come back to this thread later but to keep it short let me say: this kid is the truth

Man this is :pimp: so far

I think it's funny he has that "Momma I'm Sorry" song, but that lil n' is still in the streets doing the same **** he was apologizing for

was listenin to the tape last night and i must say, i def hit the nail on the head with this one.

fazoland, is on par with free crack. which is crazy b/c i always felt like herb had an edge on bibby.

few decents here and there but i cant say im IMPRESSED. all in all, its a servicable tape tho. not bad, not stellar.

think both of em sounded better when they were releasin randoms a year and some change back.

my 2 cent...

Agree with the bold, clearly both dudes can rap but they need more guidance when it comes to putting a full project together.

Both Herb and Bibby need to decide if they want to be on some pure drill gangsta ****, or if they want to be diverse and show off the lyricism. They need someone in the industry to mentor them

I aint here herb but i think Bibby did just fine for his first mixtape and varying the sounds... Why shouldnt they be able to do both

That's what separates them tho being able to do both

What I mean is, when they rap are they talking to their homies on Oblock 600/Lamron/whatever? Or are they talking to the whole world? They're gonna have to decide at some point

This drill music basically started out (and still very much is) a gang thing. When I listen to Back From the Dead, I can tell its on some gang ishh but what makes it work is that Keef stuck to that one theme. That's what I thought Free Crack and Fazoland were gonna be (except much better flow/lyrics wise), based on the songs they'd been doing Herb and Bibby were killing that type of music.

Instead what I heard was a mix of Chicago drill type songs, vs songs that had more mass appeal or maybe belonged on a different project. Almost like they were too 'good' or too technical to be on a drill mixtape.

It's obvious that Herb and Bibby are on another level from the rest of these Chicago dudes. Herb especially could have that Meek Mill type crossover appeal. Imo they should have dropped these mixtapes purely for the streets, then focused on rising beyond that moving forward. That's why I said they needed someone advising them, tell them just stick to that Keef/Gucci formula of giving the streets what they want on the mixtapes, then showcase your other abilities on industry features and future projects. It seemed like they were trying to be too diverse and crammed too many concepts into one project.
