OFFICIAL NIKE KOBE 8 SYSTEM THREAD

This dude calling Jordan dumb is probably the same dude that buys Air Jordans, thus paying the man he is calling dumb. His company takes your money and somehow he is the dumb one? SMH :smh:

sorry youngster im not a sheep like you. havent bought jordan retros in almost a decade. never spent a dime on brand jordan garbage.. i leave that **** for the brainless youth of today who should be buying the athletes of todays signature shoes instead of a man they never saw play live in their lives.

dont assume ****. it makes you look stupid...

Im ready for some official pics to get released of the colorways they have planned for this shoe.

man the kobe is already at the viii. why not lose the big swoosh already? hes popular in asia.
same goes for lebron. lose the big swooshes on the side
old school nike sigs always lost the swooshes eventually. does nike not think anyone can stand on their own when it comes to sig lines these days?
or are they doing this because they fear if a line is big enough to stand on its own the player will try to go the jordan route and remove swooshes and nike altogether in the future? jordan is an ******* for doing that by the way. that ***** dumb as a rock cause nike still appears on the shoe boxes and the air is still nike technology..
so let me get this str8.....Jordan is a dumbas for accepting Nike's offer to have his own brand?!?  i say he's a smart business man by staying under the Nike umbrella having still Nike make his shoes using their technology and innovations.  i believe it was in the Jordan ************* issue for the XXs, it was actually Nike's idea to slowly remove Nike branding from Jordans to actually sell the idea to the customer that MJ was his own entity.  Jordan's were really never splattered with Swooshes all over them anyway.  Soon we saw the transition from the VI where we saw "Nike Air" only on the back of the shoe to the VII where there was no sign of Nike anywhere on the shoe.  Even the boxes changed from saying "NIke Air Jordan --" to just saying "Air Jordan --".  this wasn't MJ's idea this was Nike's idea

Guys, this thread isn't about Jordan, the Jordan Brand, the exclusion of Nike swoosh on the retros, or anything of the sort. Let's keep it to Kobe VIII talk.

I am now wondering what retail will be. Honestly, $140 was pushing it for the 7. I would like retail to stay the same, extra sleeve or not.

So cause people weren't around to see the GOAT play means they shouldn't try to cop shoes they never had a chance to cop before? And to say what people "should" do makes you sound like an arrogant *******.

Just sayin...

And btw I was only 7 when I went to see MJ play in a Bulls game, you ever see him play live? Assumptions on your part, no?

Let's get back to topic guys.

Hoping that the 8s stay the same price, canadian price of the kobe 7 is already too much :x

Chinese calendar has this year as the year of the snake, last year was the dragon, that's why you saw a china exclusive release of the yotd. People are speculating since Kobe's nickname is the black mamba, this years shoe will have something special in store for the aforementioned reasons.

i'm not kobe, and i don't have a personal trainer. is it magic that i've NEVER rolled my ankle in kobe's (when properly laced up)?
i've rolled my ankle when i would be stupid and play without lacing up, but other than that.. no, not once since 2008.
so you're theory is bs. you know it, i know it.
i feel more comfortable landing on someone's foot in kobe's than in lebrons (and it's happened). lebrons i gotta worry about the airmax which is slightly higher off the ground..
it's physics.. it doesn't lie.
Then someone isn't telling the truth...

Speaking of truth, if this shoe is above a buck seventy five, they are going to sit, and sit, and sit, and sit.....from the intial look anyways, they are going to sit.

Speaking of not selling well, what ever happened to Kobe's TEAM shoe line?

It's more than that. To suggest that you should only want to wear the shoe of the player that represents your generation, is downright moronic. This is what we were discussing in the Ask a former Nike employee thread. There are many here who actually work for Nike, those that are ticked off at the fact that Jordan has them by the balls. He can leave Nike anytime that he wishes, and they don't like it. He leaves Nike, and the value of Nike stock collapses, probably leaving them in the red. They have nothing to offer retailers that is comparable. So if Jordan ever leaves Nike, they'll be behind both Adidas and Reebok, then possibly Under Armour.

When I was a kid, nobody asked me if I knew who Chuck Taylor was, in order to wear his Converse line of shoes.

Kobe's shoes do not do well enough in order to warrant retro's at Jordan's level, and it's not even close. LeBron's shoes while popular, are not that popular in retro demand as of yet either. Nike can only use Jordan to open doors for them at retail.

Damn

But I'm on the same boat as al3x89, I've worn the 4's up to the 7 (one time) and I have not rolled my ankle. Last time I rolled my ankle was the time I wore the lebron 8 v2, it was just too high off the ground for me.

I guess it's the shoe being low the ground and having that good outrigger. But that's just me though, I'm not saying that low top kobes totally prevent anybody from rolling their ankles.

i have been wearing kobes for basketball since kobe 1s till the 7s and i rolled my ankles only in kobe 4s and 1s.that's

twice in about 6 yrs of playing hoops..

i dont have any lebrons so i can't comment on those.

him wearing that shoe probably saved his career. the kobe 6 are extremely low to the ground.. if he was wearing anything with airmax or higher off the ground really, he would have broke it probably.

he was playing right after he rolled it by the way..

i still don't see how a piece of leather is going to prevent someone from rolling their ankle. whoever made that **** up and the sheep that followed are idiots.. seriously. if a body part wants to turn a certain way, a piece of material won't get in the way.

You cannot have it both ways.

You say that you cannot see how a piece of leather is going to prevent someone from rolling their ankle, yet in the same breath suggest that the shoe Kobe is wearing, probably saved his career.

You wear what you are most comfortable playing in.

There is scientific proof that mid to high cut shoes offer some protection to both the foot and ankle, but obviously that depends on the wearer as well. So to suggest the sheep that followed are idiots, doesn't make you look very wise, especially with Bryant's ankle in the pics doing a 180 with nobody touching him nor his foot.

Players like Dr. J had pretty lengthy careers while wearing their shoes extra high, and some had successful ones while wearing lows. The point is to make sure that you're in good enough condition, then remaining in shape, so that you can bounce back quickly from tweaks and turns. Those are the guys who bounce back, coming back into games after injury. It's the dudes who are in shape, it's not the shoes, it's your level of conditioning.

When did we start getting better pics of the VIIs last year? Need something better than this blurry mess.

kobe posted a pic on his facebook on october 13th last year , dont remenber anything before that
