OFFICIAL NIKE KOBE 8 SYSTEM THREAD

About Kobe saying these have a "Grinch" theme, I honestly don't think the players themselves really care all that much about getting the exact specific nicknames and what not. It's really just something designers/sneakerheads/collectors create, especially in recent years, and I don't even think the Grinch nickname would've stuck a couple years back if we hadn't consistently referred to them as that. After all that colorway was technically based off a green mamba, not the Grinch. Hell I just saw a tweet earlier today from KD where he was asking what "Bred" stood for.

That just kinda proves my point though. If KD doesn't know whatever nicknames dudes are using these days for something as universally popular as playoff XIs, can't really expect Kobe to be up on whatever nicknames people are using for his shoes either. Better or worse, people on all the sneaker forums/blogs and hypebeasts are making all the nicknames nowadays, and that changes every other day.

That Cherry nickname for the white/red XIIs is the worst nickname I've heard people come up with recently. My least favorite is still by far the "Raptor" VIIs though. Shoe released before the team was even established :smh:

I just got my Sulphurs in the mail today...

THANK THE LORD THAT NIKE MADE A REPUTABLE KOBE SHOE AGAIN!!!

Also, went .5 down from my normal size on KB V-VII, and they fit great. Size 12 was way too long.

That raptor name has been out a LONG time though. At least 12 years and was used when the shoe re-released for the first time.

But that's neither here nor there.

And I've hated it ever since it first caught on back then :lol:

But anyway, point is, can't expect players unless they're really into sneakers themselves, to really get the "right" nicknames or whatever.
 
My local HOH is doing a raffle and so is the other footlocker near me. I'm in socal btw. Lucky for you guys who got to reserve.
 
HOH in bay area, handed out tickets for the christmas pack shoes.. Stinks i was at work.. Would have preferred raffle or First come first serve...Oh well HOH being shady as usual...

TPG How are you liking the HOH at valley fair?

If i strike out ill be getting these sulfurs asap.. Wont be patient to wait on swoosh lol

When did they pass out tickets? I went to VF Thursday after hearing on here HOH/FTL were giving out tickets. I tried to call to see wassup but it was busy or ringing nonstop so I went in person. Turns out they said they handed out tickets for one hour then ended it on Wednesday. Told me it'll be FCFS on the 26th.
It's cool that we have a HOH closer, have yet to go get anything on big releases from them. We'll see how good or bad they'll be on handling releases and how they keep things in order.

Called yesterday to my local footlocker and bday coupon was a go... get there this morning they didnt have my size.

Headed out to LA to pick up some bread... hit up HOH tried to use the coupon, told me yeah but I needed my VIP# on the coupon. I drove almost 2 hours, talked dude into it. Walked away with sulfurs for 125 after tax.

/cool story bros

looking forward to some new cws. Cant wait for an inline cw.

COOL PICKUP STORY BRO.

WISH I HAD MY PURR. BUT WAITING ON HOMIE WID THE SWOOSH ACCOUNT.

MAYBE THIS TIME THEYLL USE VARSITY PURPLE INSTEAD OF CONCORD FOR THE INLINE CW. LIKE WOAH
 
Was able to scoop up the Sulfurs with the bday coupon and my $10 reward card at West Covina Footlocker so $115 :smokin

Officially cleaning out my closet to go h.a.m on the 8. Durability is the only concern right now(and my wallet).
 
I'm still smh at the employee in Puente Hills who told me these were "quick strikes" and therefore I couldn't use the birthday coupon or $10 VIP rewards card
