it's like saying you can't ball in Foamposites because it's like playing in shoes covered in shells. Like, why put a limit on what you can wear? It's still the kobe 8 people.
I just find it weird that of all forums I will read it here in the Kobe section. I understand the old "WORST SHOE EVER" then sells out while being "top 5 all time".
I just don't get the "for display only" and "unwearable" angle. Kobe's getting a non textured version on court. For real tho?:x

Mr Overbron, yeah they're just Kobe8s, but it's all in the detail. The whole snake skin shedding concept is brilliant.
These SS johns are a display shoe in my house. There are 22 million other Kobe8s, including an already Xmas 8 to play in. Choose 1.
Im not gonna mess up the skin shedding upper on the court, 1 of the highlights of the shoe..What's the point in putting that kind of art on a shoe if it's just gonna get torn to hell?
Others can/will do what they please, but me?, I'm not gonna destroy the shoe if I'm able to get it..

. I think the extra spikes or whatever it is actually worth a price increase, unlike the asg wear nike is charging extra just because.

Couple of things...
1. Stores know little about this release because this quickstrike is MUCH "quicker" than a usual quickstrike...normally retailers know about QS 3 weeks in advance...this one came about 10 days in advance and there was a major Holiday in the middle of that time frame, thus little time to communicate to the stores...
2. Champs Sports stores will be doing a raffle...

Can anyone comment on the responsiveness of the zoom in the elite version? Is it noticeable? I'm really back and forth on which 8 to pick up. Not a fan of the lunarlon in the LJXI, am a huge fan of the flight plate zoom in the xx8 and xx8 se and generally zoom in general but was not impressed with the 6's responsiveness and the 7 was complete trash IMO

That's true. Costs for materials for shoes are minimal. But just like with most shoes that comes, when release day nears, people's opinions will change and they'll be breaking their neck to cop.

I still think it's kinda funny how some of y'all are now hating on the SS for the "plastic" upper when that's practically what we had from IV-VII. When the 8s first debuted I remember people doubting the EM upper, and with the 9s coming, people have been questioning a flyknit upper. Bottom line, people just don't like or are scared of change lol
I'm still a little on the fence about how the snakeskin spikes will end up looking in person or on feet, but I think the overall concept of them doing what seems to be ice crystals or something like that on the upper is still pretty cool/different. Gimmick or not, with all the crazy uppers on the 8s we've had, I like that they're trying something different. Will probably have to see these in person before I make any final judgement on them.

Christmas pair is amazing, though it may not be worth getting ragged-on for wearing spikes on court. Definitely going to try to get a pair though. Man, Kobe's line just kills it with Christmas releases every year. This year is particularly bad for the other sigs.
