D Rose III *UPDATED* *NEW PICS*

I'm in love with these. They fit true to the size, very comfy, and something you can wear off the playing field. But no way am I paying 160.00 for these. Even with my discount, I know these will go on sale.

An Adidas rep replied to my email and stated that they aren't releasing any sales numbers. Also she defended the price point by stating that they are very proud of the shoe and it represents Derrick well. I tried them on and I wasn't impressed at all. At least with Lebrons you can feel the quality once you put them on. I'll just wait for the price to drop cause I know they won't sell out here.

Matt Powell from SportsOneSource (true sneakerologist) says sales are "just OK," and that the LeBron X did better #'s.

Was talking to an manager at an Adidas retailer and heard the shoe wasn't doing what they expected.

On a side note, Rose 2.0's $69.99 at the Pleasant Prairie Outlet store.

Not gonna front, I LOVE this shoe design. All three colorways I've seen so far look DOPE! I was so set on picking them up at what I thought would be $140 price points, combined with some coupons and I was good to go. Once I saw that $160 price point all excitement left my soul. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the masses stick with Lebrons and Jordans so these can see sale prices. These are the best looking Basketball Sig of the year in my opinion, thats coming from someone that just bought 5 Lebron X ID's. I'm definitely going to buy a few pairs, just know that the price will drop so I'm going to wait...

Have people seen the "Nightmare Before Christmas" colorway yet?

Well just giving my 2 cents

-Hoop in Bron 8 V2's

-hooped in Jordans every year, sometimes a hyperdunk/fuse here and there....

-Got a free DROSE Friends and Family pack

- Decided to hoop in the BREDS last night.... I have to say these are the lightest/most comfortable hoopin shoes I have every played in... Usually Ill put in a insole or something from SOFSOLE- These just fit perfect and feel like.. idk they are just awesome, AT LEAST FOR A SG/PG... I cant speak for big men down low-

-Wearing to rock- Nice look, Dont like that I got 3 white lines coming from the heel, the tongue is awkward too- It doesnt sit right, Its short and puffy...they shouldve used a material that the reebok questions use for the tongue .. I mean at least for style purposes.. Performance wise the tongue works for me.

Side note, the new D Rose socks are also dope, The hoody with the new D Rose logo has a ton of quality, Better than brand jordan or nike.

And im not even an Adidas fan at all lol

/\/\/\ I wouldn't call it a fall, some people want/like loud shoes and I think that customer well gravitate towards that particular shoe. I'm not one of those people.

As for sales, my shop got all 3 colorways and we sold about 6 shoes total out of 60+ pairs. Everyone loved the shoe but price was the #1 complaint.

I hear what you're saying and I know the younger consumer base will gravitate to loud colors but they still have to be dope. I'm a fan of loud colorways, the Chicago Fire was done PERFECT! Going to pick up a pair today damn the price but these South Side joints are terrible! I love the silhouette/design of the shoe as a whole but the color blocking on this colorway is just terrible to me. I'm from the South Side of the Chi, my area code is 773 right now, that shoe itself aint South Side graffiti inspired. It feels more designed by people that view South Side Chi from their TV while sipping Starbucks and wearing thong flip flops. The colors are correct but its executed poorly. Could've been so much better and unique if the upper was the color of an actual brick wall or cargo train with details of cracks/mortar or rust THEN incorporate that graffiti graphic and color into the shoe. So far Adidas is 3 (Home, Away, CF) for 4 in my eyes, not counting the Mcdonalds game looking color.

^ those are some good ideas. Reminds me of the route Nike took with the Liberty Hyperposites. Crazy detailed. If I were you I'd share those feelings with Adidas directly: Consumer.relations@adidas.com. I emailed them my 2 cents about the shoe and they replied back.

My email to Adidas:
First off, great job with the drose 3. Sleek/elegant design. These may be quite possibly my first Adidas purchase in about 15 years.

I would love to know how first week sales are going, is there any way to obtain this info? Also, I would like to say this, if this shoe was more moderately priced, (100-110) it would be FLYING off the shelves.

I understand that Adidas may be top quality nowadays, but realistically, I don't see Adidas' reputation being strong enough to have a $160 shoe selling out, no matter how beautiful it is.

This shoe has the power to make Derrick's line VERY popular, but most consumers have a hard time dropping that much on a brand they're not used to buying. This shoe alone could catapult the line past KD, and nip at Lebron's heels, because his line isn't as big as Nike would like for it to be, but that's another story.

160 was a gutsy call. I rarely wear athletic shoes anymore, but if these were $110, I would not be able to stop myself from buying two pair.

------------ The response---------------

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback on our recent release of the d rose 3. We are very proud of this shoe and have worked very hard to make an authentic product that is representative of Derrick Rose's personality. Unfortunately, at this time we are not releasing the sales info for this product.

If you would like to talk with us our number is 1-800-448-1796. We are here Monday through Friday 7 am to 5 pm PST. Thank you for your pursuit of the adidas brand. It’s always great to hear from customers who share our passion for sports and the sporting lifestyle.

adidas is all in,

The options on miAdidas for the 3.0 are weak. For $200 i figure they would have more options than that. The 2.5 had some limitations but some dope designs were done up. I like the Matt option but they only have 4 colors wth! The 3 stripes on the outsole doesn't match with the stripes on the heel :smh: I rather have that option than the speckles on the stripes.

Aren't the blue and green joints Fresh Prince of Bel-Air inspired? Either way it's not creative at all. Although i like the herringbone traction pattern texture on the upper.

Looks like a brutal mash-up of Simeon colors and that weird green.

Not surprised to see the shoe sitting. I picked up a pair, and while it's not a bad shoe, and a HUUUUUUUUUGE improvement over the 2.5 (sucked), the shoe isn't that amazing. I've seen reviewers say its better than the LeBron Soldier 6 and HD 2012, but that's simply not the case. If he was out getting ready to win the MVP this year, then we'd see some movement, but it's just not happening.

A shame to see such awesome marketing wasted on mediocre execution. I'll get another CW, but only once they discount them/allow discount codes.

This is why having options is so great. You don't think Its a better shoe than some of those Nike products and thats fine, I respect your opinion. I stated this earlier in the thread and I'll say it again. To me, in my personal opinion, the DRose 3 is the BEST looking Signature athlete shoe in basketball for the 2012-2013 season. I just bought 5 Lebron ID's and I'll still say with passion the DRose 3 is my favorite sig shoe from an aesthetic point. I am SOOOOO ready for the Bears colorway to drop and excited to see what else they have in store for later releases. Adidas seemed to have spent alot of money on this marketing campaign and I think it can very well catapult Rose's sig line above most all Nike sigs but put it right at the heels of the Lebron sigs. I just don't like what they did with the South Side colorway, feels like it hurt the momentum that built up after the initial release combined with the Chicago Fire which is DOPE!!! Not a fan of $160, was hoping for $140 but bright side the shoes will sit long enough to reach sale prices. I can see myself getting a ton of releases on this model.

^Yup, I agree it's a fantastic looking shoe. I'm absolutely dying to pick-up the greys for casual wear, the performance just isn't as good as it should be. Bears colorway should be sick.

Then again, I think performance has gone downhill since the Jordan XVIII/XIX era, regardless of brand. How many "great performance shoes" have come out since? Pretty much the Soldier 6, LeBron II, Vick II??? Everything except weight and ventilation has been so-so.

This is not called the "south side"   its called the "Fresh Prince"  .... Nice kicks post "south side" and the ******g world believes it.
now if they are really called fresh prince then the theme worked perfect, but still not my cup of tea...i look would forward to see more CWs on these hope adidas goes in!!

Ok cool, if this isn't a south side inspired shoe then cool. Even as a fresh prince colorway the color blocking could've been better. You mad that a sneaker blog post a nickname and most of us assumed it was correct? How would we know any better. Simply not a fan of that colorway I guess. Adidas has the opportunity to do something incredible here and build a very strong fan following with these, here's hoping they capitalize!

I'm not saying that Adidas should never have a premium priced shoe, but you've got to gradually get to that point. Just like the $60,000 Hyundai Equus. It's probably up to par with an A8/7 series, but not many people are trying to drop that guap on a Hyundai. Gradually bring out quality products and release the big guns later down the line.

Nightwing does an excellent job, but try these on before you go run and get them. Something like the 2.5 (he zinged for being too wide) fit me quite well. I certainly can't call them "performance beasts" just yet, but I will give an update when they are more broken in (take a little time for foam cushioning).
