Official Reebok Kamikaze II Thread AKA "Reignmans"

Because you're preventing someone that wants to keep the shoe from getting it for retail. Resellers destroy the shoe game beyond belief for marginal profits at best. The term 1 to rock 1 to stock is OK with me. But one to rock 1 to stock and 3 more to pay them off is not.

It makes sense, but I'm not gonna sit there and be upset at someone who chooses to use sneakers as an outlet to make extra dough. Don't knock him, be upset and the people who fall victim and give these people ridiculous amounts of money for general releases.

Reselling been going on before me and you were even thought about, people make it seem like it's some new epidemic. Can't be mad at a tactic that's been practiced for decades.

AND...whose to say that when I leave those extra pairs, that a reseller isnt coming behind me and grabbing them? For me, it depends on the release and the relatively ease of me getting the shoe. Like I have said in the thread before, if they are rotting on shelves here and everyone else needs them, ill pick them up and unload them at a fair price. I would expect everyone to do the same, if similarily situated. Its been done to me, and I have done it. Plain and simple.

I do the same

Just that quick, somebody grabbed that 12.... I am going to go ahead and say that this is my favorite release of the year. Grapes would be a close second, but I know the inferior quality will have me regrettably spending the 160 on those.

But just because you choose to do that good deed, didn't have anything to do with anyone else. You did that out of your own kindness, so why you worried about who's coming behind you if you leave a pair back? That's not your fault to worry about if a reseller comes behind you and cops.

I just think people look to point fingers so much at resellers when fact of the matter is that too many people sleep on releases. If you want it, become attentive and make sure you cop. It's that easy. There's no sneaker that's un-obtainable for the right price. Not everyone is as kind as you and as fair.

I'll give you similar storyline here, I copped two og sonics. Planned on keeping both, but when I saw all these other colorways coming out, I decided that I was going to part ways with one. So I looked at eBay, resellers were going anywhere from 160-225-250. I said alright, I'm going to charge 157 shipped, which covers the insurance, the cost for the box, the label, and the 4%. So by time I'm done with everything else I probably end up with like 128-135.

Offer to sell that extra pair for 157, people hit me up saying that's too high. I go on Craigslist and someone gladly gives me 160. Am I wrong?

Because I offered a reasonable price, opposed to what people want. All these websites want 180 and you'll be lucky to get a damn return label if you cop. You can't fault me for not selling for retail like you did, because 9 times out of 10 the people you help out aren't going to return the favor. So excuse me if I don't use the same tactics. If these were true grails for most people then they would've jumped on em two weeks before the release with the packer pre order and the YCMC preorder like I did.

It's just a constructive conversation, but I'm interested to see where you ascend with your standpoint.

Just FYI you're responding to 2 different people about reselling.  Nothing I say or do will change the fact that resellers exist. If you re-sell shoes then do your thing, but you got it all wrong if you don't think the game is twisted because of resellers.  I've seen stores sell FSR's to people that have no intention of keeping the shoe at all and turning them around for a profit.  Look at the Jordan Retro 11's for example, everyone paid attention, everyone took a swing at them and a lot of people struck out. Ebay has FSR's going for 350-400 a pop though.  You're telling me that's ok?

There are more shops than people think that do stuff like this. Shop owner X pays 50% of MSRP to Nike and doesn't want to deal with opening early, raffles, people sleeping on the floor, etc., so they sell the whole shipment to an established local reseller with an well known ebay account or "boutique" website. They sell somewhere between 75% of MSRP and retail. The make their cut, or at least most of it, with minimal aggravation and employee cost.

Now, if you want to argue that ruins the hobby, you have a leg to stand on.

However, if talk about the dude who buys some GR Jordan Retro at retail and then sells it on ebay for $50 extra - that's petty larceny and doesn't really have an effect on the overall landscape.

Perhaps the best argument about resellers ruining things is that it helps give rise to price increases, as it allows the brand to see what consumers will truly pay for their goods.

Personally, when it comes to either new releases or vintage pieces in my stash, I buy them for a price I'm content with paying. If, subsequent to that, the "market" decides it values the shoes more highly than I do, then I'm going to sell them. That's just the basis of a free market economy. ...That's different than buying with the intent to resell. At the end of the day though, if the "reseller" doesn't have a legit connect, he's just nickel and diming and not impacting much of anything - for him or you. For reselling to really be worthwhile you have to either 1) have no other prospects for income (no opportunity cost), 2) have a legit hook-uo where you are getting bulk orders below MSRP, or 3) have access to things that can really fetch 100% of better mark-up on the secondary market.

Who are we to judge whether or not that price is genuine when there are people still settling for it?

We're regular guys and gals that just cop. None of us own a shop, so where do we really have a say anyway? If it happens then it happens, the resellers wouldn't be here if the consumers had more patience. Everyone comes down on their prices, but with all this networking, people have access to suppliers and sellers across the globe, instead of just a hometown.

Same goes for music and movies, your favorite singers or actors wouldn't be who they are without the support system. In this economy we are the support system to resellers

200 is a little steep on them. I paid 150, and thats about as high as id go, although the quality on these beats anything being released right now. Reeboks retros really have been great lately
