Alabama Freshman Dee Liner Posts Instagram Photo Of Himself With Wads Of Cash
Matt Lombardi

Alabama freshman defensive end Dee Liner was ranked as the one of the best players in the entire 2013 class. Without having even played a down on the football field, Liner has found his way into the news.

Liner posted a photo of himself and his friends with wads of cash and the hashtag #StruggleOverWit. Check it out:

My first thought? Alabama coach Nick Saban is going to go ballistic. My second thought? Why do college football players keep doing this?
To be 100% fair to kids ... We all know a lot of the time these are photos of them waving around Sallie Mae money, not booster money.  It's just stupid to keep drawing attention to yourself for the sake of some likes/retweets.

That said, why is dude in the middle stunting so much harder than the other two?

Third thought: cargo capris and jorts are in season hard down there huh?

Since when do kids on full athletic scholarships get money from Sallie Mae?

You know you hqve to fill out financial aid forms ? If you qualify you get pell grants and everything onvtop of yoir grant in aid schollies.

You should be paid for money earned off of your services.

You work, you are paid for your work.

NCAA sells your jersey, puts your face on their marketing strategies and makes millions off that, you should be compensated for that.

"Free" education is not enough, not even close. Barely a fraction.

When I graduated my grandparents wanted to buy me a laptop for school, but had no idea which one to buy or how to even buy something online so they just asked how much I needed and gave me $2400 cash (I did architecture so I needed a good computer).

First thing I did was go up to my room and take pictures of that $$$ and just admire it.

So as stupid as it looks to me now, I can see why they're doing it if its grant money or w/e.

It's not "your" jersey if your name isn't on it. There's only a number. A number that a player had before you and will have after you. If you don't want to be marketed, then you don't have to consent to it. No school uses a player in marketing campaigns with having the player's permission to be marketed first.

There's roughly 10k D1 football players. Probably less than 30 are marketable. Outside of the Manziel, and Clowney type players....nobody else is generating revenue for their school. Why should they be paid?

However, what the NCAA needs to do is make it allowable for players to be able to sign their own personal deals just like any regular student would be able to. Athletes shouldn't be excluded from doing the same things regular students can do...such as accept benefits and money from sponors and 3rd parties. But they definitely don't need to be getting paid by the school or NCAA

Couple Vol websites reporting their Adidas contract is about to end and the swoosh is on the way.
Sounds good but adidas PAYS big bucks and supplies entire Athletic department.

Rumors that Michigan will be doing the same, as soon as their contract is up... Adidas makes some terrible uni's... Quality being the most glaring negative

Said the samething about ucla last year but UA and Adidas offer more money and a better plan for some of these schools. As fans we want Nike, but most AD dont want to be just another team with Nike and not getting much money. Michigan could be different tho and Nike market them with the big dogs, Tennessee wouldn't be tho

TAMU is the same way... Adidas offered the moon basically and Nike only wanted to outfit the football team.

Sumlin apparently wants Nike when the contract is up because the kids want it.

Please let this be true and within a couple of years. I'd DEF rock more aTm gear if it were Nike...though I can't front those clima-cool Polos are nice.

Lol look at these kids flexing. Lol they did just graduate high school and that's a high school thing to do.

Exactly...clown trying to infer its "sallie Mae" money

I see what you did but I'm not going to spoil the thread

And some of y'all don't understand the type of commitment these kids have when they play in school....they have no life outside of school and football...no way they can work a job...
