2013 College Football Thread (Realer than Real Deal Holyfield -->S/O Craftsy)

One good year and you aren't living in the past
Do we really think they're all of the sudden gonna revert back to that pile of **** under Sumlin?

This is the first time they've had a legitimate head coach in literally 15 years. They're out-recruiting Texas, they've got a better coaching staff, better facilities on the way, the SEC is a huge sell.

Lets not act like a TON of things haven't changed down there.

How long do you think Kevin Sumlin will stay in College Station?

Can't see Sumlin leaving unless its to the nfl....A&M can match any university out there dollar wise (well almost any)

Did you watch the Cotton Bowl?

A&M woulda put up 50 on that train wreck of a defense Texas fielded last year.

i'm a big12 fan, so my oprah.gif had little to nothing to do with that wack brown led squad, but to answer your question -- i did watch a&m beat ou, but i didn't see the aggies run through the rest of the 12 like you claimed they "woulda".   it's a tad bit presumptuous and ironic that you, an aggies fan, would practically give the big12 championship to an sec school that hasn't won or competed for it since '99. the last time i checked, college football games have to be played and won, teams aren't awarded the "W" over the other team(s) because they look better on paper.

cute. you remember the score when texas and a&m last met..."COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Texas spoiled Texas A&M's going away party."
Cute. I remember when TAMU sucked and I was forced to live in the past. It's good to see the only thing that changes is the team name.

cute. you actually want to forget your squad's past. we all remember a&m's mediocrity here in the 12. they couldn't compete with the big boys, so they sought out greener pastures and left without finishing business, (that's why i posted the college station quote).

i agree, they have better coaching now, much better players, better facilities, great recruiting, plays in the mighty SEC, has become relevant again and will win a lot of games in the future, but that's where it stops. to say that they would have run through the big12 now, is silly. they had their chance, but didn't stay long enough to show us.

I saw a pic of him in uniform w/o pads and dude looked awful, had to be a recent pic. Hope he re-dedicates himself in UM's S&C program and they get him to eat well. I had read about the concerns about his weight in HS but it seemed he was in good shape last year. You gotta think that even as talented as he is he's gonna be behind the curve if he's outta shape like that.

I tried googling it and found this but the UM pic isn't the one I saw. Some of it could be the way the jersey is it kinda looks like he's got a gut hanging over. Still, kid was jacked up in HS and it does look like he's put on some unwanted lbs. If he's still agile at that weight and he doesn't shy away from contact, he could hurt some LBs & DBs.

Obviously, he needs to be in shape to productive but I dont really care if my players look like fitness models... Its not encouraging to see him looking a little soft after the reports that he has had weight problems in the past... I could see if he pulled a hammy or something but rolling an ankle doesnt seem to correlate with his physique... I guess we will see soon enough if he can play

How is it silly? Texas A&M would've been the best team in that conference last year. We'll never know, but if you watched enough of the Big 12 and A&M, it's pretty obvious.

And of course they didn't stay. Why should they have? They had every reason to leave.
How long do you think Kevin Sumlin will stay in College Station?
I think A&M will pay him whatever it takes to keep him there. They already gave hi a million dollar raise after last year. I think he's EXACTLY what they needed in College Station, and I think they know that.

Culture changer.

You gonna be singing this same tune when yall land Moten who wants immediate PT? lol

We're not getting Moten. Golden can't recruit DTs.

Ermon can enjoy being the next one in the long line of WR busts at UF. Throwing away your career for immediate PT

We get it, you don't like the Gators and your salty that he committed to UF over UM.  Had he committed to UM, he would have been the next Andre Johnson and his NFL career would have made Michael Irvin's look like Charles Rogers' career.  Am I missing anything?

The real answer is the next 2-3 years decides how long Sumlin stays. We have to prove this season wasn't a fluke, and we also have to see how successful we'll be post Manziel. Of course he wasn't the only reason why we had a breakout season, but was definitely the catalyst/sparkplug.

Remember even though there were a few individual awards with Big Joeckel and Manziel, we didn't win anything team wise (yeah the Cotton Bowl, but I mean like SEC Championship and Natl Championship). Even Coach brings that up.[/COLOR]
