2013 College Football Thread (Realer than Real Deal Holyfield -->S/O Craftsy)

Nako: I don't think MM is a gimmick QB like Masoli and DT before him. Pro typical size, live arm to make all the throws, mobility, runs well with speed, smart with the football.

Weakness is throwing accuracy. Also if MM can learn, execute a NFL style offense different from Oregon.

I love him as a late first or early second.

Has his accuracy been a bit down this yeah? Yeah. But look at his 2012 completion rate: 68.5%

I'm sure as the season progresses, he'll settle more into a rhythm. To his credit, there have been a number of drops, but I do recognize there have been some accuracy issues with some passes.

He's going to go top 10 man. Scouts are drooling over dude. Some GM will reach to get a QB as always. If Ponder and Gabbert etc can go top 12, damn straight Mariota will. He's better than both those dudes combined.

Throwing Accuracy is a pretty big Weakness if you ask me, especially with the tight windows in the NFL, plus it isn't guaranteed that he will get drafted to the Eagles in Chip Kelly''s. The main difference I see between him and other Oregon QB's is his straight line speed.
His arm is stronger than Dixon's but can he read a defense better than any of the other Oregon QB's?

In my opinion little tough to tell since they throw so many screens in Oregon's offense.

Size, Speed, can run these new offenses, and can throw...Mariota def a 1st rounder right now

That Oregon offense is just nuts, could you imagine it with USC level talent? :wow:

I hate that Houston area guys like Josh Huff and Bralon Addison ended up at Oregon :smh:

The biggest thing I got from this video is that Oregon needs to throw to their TEs every time  Lyerla was open on so many plays.

u must be didnt watch the game saturday when we played Tennessee

our TE had a field day

No, I saw it. That's what I'm saying. Oregon TEs are always open down the middle. Whether it's Lyerla, Brown, or Mundt, they should get them the rock more often.

If we got a solid defense we would make any school in the country look foolish

Eric Dungy needs to get his dad to make some phone calls

our defense is pretty damn good, considering they are on the field twice as much if not more than your typical top SEC defense

No, because most of the Big 10 teams have things like academic standards and don't commit egregious recruiting violations on the level of the SEC and such.

Northwestern... top 25 team and graduating 100% of their seniors. UMich is still a top school as well.

Exception being tOSU and Urban Meyer. We all know about Urban.
Every school commits recruiting violations. As far as academics go, we've seen players get into schools with some help. :nerd:.

SEC is top dog because they are getting players from the region and cherry picking everywhere else. Teams like UGA, LSU, Florida, etc could remain competitive if they only recruited their respective states. As long as they continue to pump out NFL talent, the B1G will continue to fall behind because they are lacking the athletes the south has.

Personally, I want the B1G to flourish, but in saying that, gotta realize that it has an identity issue. Ground and pound days are almost over.

southern belles :pimp:

Meh, they have the talent they need to run the offense that works for them. They don't need 5* Linemen because that is not what their system calls for. They finally got one, Arik Armstead, and they put him on defense because that is what he wanted to play (*shrugs*).

They have talent at the skill positions.

Nothing official on RSJ yet. They'll definitely explore that avenue if RSJ can't start playing again within the next couple of games though.

And Evans had 280 on just 7 catches :x
