2013 College Football Thread (Realer than Real Deal Holyfield -->S/O Craftsy)

Miami fans
I wasn't referring to Miami specifically, though there are fans of Miami guilty of it in years past.
Notre Dame fans are probably the worst from my experience.

I'd like to add fans who get butthurt fast when they think it's their team being talked about to the annoying fan list

Relevant is a made up word.

Titles are all that is "relevant". Rest is just arguing points.
works fine with me. id rather be a down team for 10 years then win a title out of no where then to have a team thats always up in the polls every year but seem to choke a game away every year that keeps them out of the title game.. ....

I like to think winning your conference & having fairly consistent 10 win seasons makes a team relevant.

Too many factors go into playing for a national title.

Unrealistic.

Do you honestly think I give a **** about winning the ACC?

Really?
Well to win the title I'm pretty sure you're gonna have to win the ACC. Pretty confident actually.

And?

So USC wins the Pac whatever, gets destroyed by Alabama. So what, SC fans run around claimin Pac whatever titles?

Ohio State wins the Big 10, gets rolled by LSU, Buckeyes do what, puff they chest out about the damn conference title they won?

Do you HONESTLY believe that Ed Reed, Sean Taylor, Ken Dorsey, Vince Wilfork were clamorin for that Big East title? Do you think they even knew they played in the Big East?

I absolutely care ZERO about winning some conference title. The whole title, is all that matters. Save your participation badges for the Georgia fanbases, or the Boise State folks, all the Pac 10 schools not named USC, etc. Those places care about winning conference titles, or a bowl game, what have you.

Utah Jazz went to the playoffs 23 years in a row. And? Oakland A's make the playoffs every year, got a book and movie made about them, have no idea what a World Series win looks like since 88.

We don't obsess over sports to watch teams make the playoffs, or win a bowl game, we obsess over winning it all. I don't care about factors, or votes, or anything else. Raise a banner, or the year was a waste. That's the only way to be. Smaller goals make you a smaller program.

The Dodgers are about to fire their manager while making the NLCS if they don't win this series. That fanbase got their priorities in order. I don't get with all this pat on the back, we're 9-2 and won the southern half of our conference, let's raise a flag about it. :smh:

It would mean something, but it wouldn't matter. If that makes sense.
Why? Is it some Miami thing?

Yankee fans cool just makin the playoffs?
Laker fans cool just makin the playoffs?
Patriot fans make a big deal about winning their division?
Alabama hang a bunch of SEC conference banners do they?

It's not a Miami thing. It's teams/programs with the right mindset thing.

Do you think its wack for teams to celebrate a rose bowl win CP?

Within their fanbase, you can absolutely be happy about a bowl win. You start spoutin off about it as some badge of honor, I'll die laughing at you.

I could be way off base, but if you ask a USC fan to name all their titles, they can do so with ease. WITH EASE. Ask them to list bowl wins, and they won't know more than 4.

Miami has plenty of 11-1 seasons and won some bowl game and finished #2 in the polls etc. Wasted season. Flat out wasted year. We shoulda went 12-0 and won it all. We failed. PERIOD.
We won what, 20+ games in a row, back to back title games, triple OT, we LOST. We failed. You see anybody in here giving us "respect" for being in that game, and reaching triple OT, or anything? Or you see dudes clownin, and callin us Al Bundy? We didn't win. Thee end.

Win that game, nobody can say nothin about those years, the train keeps rollin. Shapiro money well spent. :pimp:

I say this because cfb is the only sport that doesn't claim a true champion. As I said in a earlier post way too many variables go into playing for a national title, only thing a team can control is wining all of their games & winning their respective conference. You say guys like Ed Reed or Sean Taylor wouldn't stand for just winning the Big East, well they actually WON the Big East. Hell dominated it in the late 90s & early 00s. I think it's absolutely stupid for you or other Miami guys to say winning the ACC doesn't matter when you guy have never won in the conference.

Using those pro teams to college teams are apples to oranges because those respective leagues claim true champions.

I really hope this mentality doesn't translate into your personal life, because damn that's a miserable life otherwise.

You aren't getting the point tho. So what Miami won the Big East? Do you see ANY reference to that **** by us Miami fans? Do you really, honestly, think we care?

Do you TRULY think Ed Reed gave a **** about winning the Big East?  It's a means to an end. It's like getting thru the preseason to get to the real season.

You EXPECT to win that boring ****, to get where you really want to go.

So Ed Reed and Miami go 11-0, get murdered by Nebraska, you think Ed gettin on TV and goin "We Big East champs tho!!!!!!" Or do you think he's ready to kill someone for losing THEE game?

I assume, you know the correct answer.
