Happy with how these turned out compared to the early pics. Cool Grey usually gets me. Hope the ankle padding is good.

If any one would have said you're gonna buy 4-5 new pairs of IX's this year I would have laughed an carried on. Not cuz of the shoe, I like IX's a lot, I owned 3 pairs before 2012, but I just wouldn't have seen it. Well in 2012 I'm at 2 bought and counting lol and I'm hoping these make the list out of the remaing 2-3 pairs I'm eyeing. Love the cool greys, same clean color palette as the CG XI, but with the translucent bottom being grey they don't get hardly as dirty, had em in 01 in high school till they got beat! Hope to cop again

Wondering how the quality is on these new CG's...my 2002 pair was good until patent leather turned a bit yellow and began to crack. But nonetheless they still held up! 
I'm hoping it can be an easy cop but debating to get a 2002 pair, just don't know if older pair will be wearable

Same here. I loved and beat both of my 2002 pairs to death.
I even had a 3rd pair at one time, that's how much I loved these back in the day.
The DS pair of 2002's I see these days have yellow patent leather or sole separation.
So these new ones are a must.

I feel the new pair will be fairly good, the last set of 9s that released 2 years ago were good material IMO.

I hope they're much better than the pair the released 2 years. The midsole on my charcoal 9's are peeling like plastic wrap. :x

Yeah, I would go with the newer retro. Unless you find some great deal and a pair that's not showing that much age.

I don't trust going after DS 2002's of these the way I trust going after DS pairs of shoes such as OG XI - XIII. If the price point were a little lower I'd take a chance but for $350+ it's better to just stick with the newer retro especially if you plan on having more than a sneaker museum lol.

My OG White/Red XII's look like they just came out of production, I've worn them a couple times, and they are tanks as you already know.
I put them next to the 2012 retro XII's and there's really no comparison. I'm always in the hunt for OG XII's.
As far as these, I'm glad they look decent. Dropping $350+ on the 2002 retro is not a smart move to make.

I've gained a newfound love for XII's after stealing a pair of 04 Playoffs a few months back. Ever since that I've been hunting hard in order to scoop as many XII's as possible. I almost want to grab a pair of OG Playoffs to compare them to the 04's, but I'll go after OGs in other colorways instead. It'd be overkill. XII's have definitely gone way up the list compared to where they once were. I usually don't bother to take pickup pics and post them in the pickup thread, but I'm definitely gonna have to post the latest once it arrives. I think you'll like it hint hint.
Now to find the right deal on some OG Black/Reds, Taxi's, and White/Reds.

I've found several sites and ebay in my size selling a DS pair of CG IXs for $280 is that fair or just wait for 2012 IXs?

If the patent leather looks good, no yellowing, and the soles are still crisp without that white discoloration, I would pay that.

The pair I'm eyeing has a little bit of that white discoloration on the soles but rarely noticeable. It's a 2002 pair btw.

02's are tanks...iv worn mine literally hundreds of times since copping on rd and they are still a solid 9/10
