You should start out by tying them tightly/correctly.

I'll do that if I want my shins to bleed. When tied tightly, the tongue feels like it's about to pierce my skin.

This leather is no joke.

Tying them tighter will help break them in better. Wearing some thicker socks will help with the pain of the leather as it breaks in.

*Tying them tighter will help break them in better. Buy some **wigwam boot socks from costco. They have awesome cushioning and help when I break in new boots. I wore some lightweight socks in the fall and my new Red Wings made my heel bleed.

I've been wearing lightweight socks and damn. I wore them to the movies tied tightly last night and boy...

Wore them again today but didn't tie nearly as tight as I did last night.

I actually don't wear them as loose in the picture (that shot was taken indoors). I'm not a fan of the sloppy look.

Update: Bought some Gold Toe Midweight Boot Socks from Target and now break-in is in full effect.

The difference is night and day.
