Official Fall/Winter 2016/17 Boot Thread...Fall is creepin up

Are there any sales or coupons to come by to get the Red Wing. The Wolverine 1000 mile boots are nice but Nordstrom never have them on sale.

Looking for something different in boots. I've had Timberland and Clarks, which are great but entry level in the boot game.

Considering

The Wolverines are nice, a bit too expensive for me right now

How much do they go for? I'm looking for a nice durable boot for 180 or less any help/recommendations is greatly appreciated.

RW 1907s go for $250, i've never seen them go lower than $200.
you should check out some thorogoods or wolverines. they have similar styles that are around your price range.

I need those AE Dalton's in my life. :pimp:

The LL Bean "Bean" boots have been gettings lots of good reviews for their durability and style. Very comfortable as well.

What you guys recommend wearing in a wet weather, Polo Ranger boots or Timbs wheats? I have both.

both pairs have their drawbacks for wet weather. rangers arent water proof/resistant and wheats are no good in water if you want to keep em looking nice. i would go w/ the rangers if they are leather.

Ordered a pair of LL Bean boots that will arrive in a few days. I've been wanting those Eastland boots in both colors. Don't have the money right now though.

I have those same timbs from the OP. Got em for $80 at marshall about a month and a half back. Fit nice, but just a tad big to be worn loose :\ they still look good though. Also copped some oakwood suede Clarks Desert boots. My new go-to shoe for non-rainy weather :smokin

For anyone interested in Red Wings... Around Christmas time 3 years ago? Karmaloop had 30% off EVERYTHING. I was able to get those 1907's for $180 after tax. I stopped checking out karmaloop afterwards, so I don't know if they still hold similar promotions annually. But perhaps someone else might be able to confirm.

In regards to the RWs, I love my 1907s. Been using them for 3 years during F/W in rain and snow. If you condition them every once in a while, you will find them to be quite rugged and useful! They are definitely on the heavier side though if that matters.

How have the soles on your Red Wings held up? Been wanting to get a pair of those 1907s or a lighter brown color of the Moc Classic ones. Not sure if karmaloop still has a good sale like that. Don't want to wait that long anyway.

Soles are pretty good. I wear them maybe, 5-6 months in the year. The "tread" or i guess sole pattern is still very visible. Slight wear in the heel, but nothing drastic. I think because they are heavier, lots of dudes who wear them get lazy and drag their feet a lot instead of doing a full lift, which is why you might see lots of worn down heels on red wings.
My only issue with mine is that they've become pretty dirty (the soles), and that's the only reason I might consider getting them resoled. But I guess that's another awesome thing about them, you can get them resoled!

never rocked boots that heavy... but my clae romare highs have seen 2/3 seasons almost and its time to replace them..

i'm in the northwest so its just wet wet wet.. and apparently timbs don't hold well to that but would water proofer help keep them clean?

also... do most of yall rock your jeans tucked above the boots like most of these pics?

it seems like most of yall do that so i'm wondering if anybody just rocks their jeans over the boots.

Thanks. :nerd:
