They're talking about the shade of red. There hasn't been a single pic yet that shows "fire red" as the color. Instead JB switched it up with a dark varsity red. Other than that change, these look pretty good. I'll be disappointed though if they switch the color tones.

dhtowng if you ever have seen fire red V's you'd know what we are talking about.... I guess you jumped on after the concord craze.... :rolleyes

I see this as a Retro+ release, no way in hell are they're gonna compare to the previous Fire-Red 5's. Hell, I would actually settle on them having the "23" on the side, if it meant having true Fire Red on these.

Keep on being inconsistent JB. :smh:
 
the '23' doesnt bother me at all. Jordan had the '23' on a lot of his limited pairs. I'm cool with it.

I had the OG back in 1990 and i must say this will do... better than not having this retroed at all. This without the "23" is insta cop regardless if the red is a "bit" off coz once they're on feet they'll be fire. And about the people who are moaning bout the icy sole you know they will turn yellow anyways just like the OGs.

Is it just me or the the tinted blue sole makes it look like those Independence V's. Kinda regret selling my OG Fire Red now. Nonetheless these will still be copped.

Hell yes man when I first saw it I was like is that the Independence V's? I wish they didn't make the icy sole on these retros 
 
It looks clean without the 23 but I don't mind it as much as some of you gives it that little extra

Lol. Bro. Let me just start by saying I was 12 when the OG concords came out in 96. Back when they used to sit and you could get todays "heat" months after a release. I've been on shoes since before then. Moms kept me right growing up. I been having love for sneakers since I was real young and I consider myself a real true OG sneakerhead. Hell I been collecting shoes before"sneakerhead" was even a relevant term to be used. Please don't mistake me for jumping on any "craze". I been on this. Dudes like you are new to it and seem to be on a complaint "craze". Every release does not warrant a complaint about some minor change. To complain about the varsity red vs fire red on some Vs is nitpicking IMO. It's not like the infrared 6 vs varsity 6 because the colors are not as different from one another. Nike always switches varsity and fire red and people there is hardly a difference. Can't say the same about infrared and varsity. When I see these I see OG color way white black red Vs with no 23 on the side. PERIOD. All other complaints are for the birds.
 
I only wore my cdp pair twice. Got the whole pack for $150. Rather have these withouth the 23. If they aren't fire red when they release I'll just use a paint marker on them. There's not a lot of red so it wont be hard.
edit: they look great in marqueesoles pics. not feeling the icy blue sole but they are so much cleaner without the 23.
ill cop, debating on keeping the cdps now

see you guys didnt know tht these back in 90' with 23 on side was just a PE..but..thy did do a limited number to 125 pairs released with the 23 on the side in 90'..but thy are a PE worn by Mike, the only pair to illegitimately had the 23 on the side were the real Firereds..with blk tongue

No more hunched back heels, or boxy toe caps like the CDPs, and years prior. Theyre nice and rolled at the toe box as they should. Still not copping, but well done.

That dark varsity red will damn near kill this classic that's for sure. :x

here is a comparison of the red on the 2000 retro (top) & the 2008 cdp retro (bottom)

as one can see, the cdp is a darker red with less 'fire' than the 2000 retro
& this new release doesn't look much different than the cdp
whatever your opinion of that may be
