IT Jobs

I'm in MIS right now, graduating soon and my concentration is Security.
Going to start getting certs in the spring. Going for Network+ and Security+ I also have an IT assistant job now and I hate it. It's definitely not something I would want to do for a living,
Cybersecurity is more along the lines what I want to do, then hopefully after I get a MBA move into more managerial position and what not.

use TROY Notes for Network+ and Security + its word for word and if you dont pass you get money back guaranteed or go to any airport and pay indian 350 to take test for you :smokin

MIS then MBA?

:pimp: :pimp:

I'm on the same path, famb. Except mine is MS-Finace, then I'm going to gun for the mba in 4 years. Try to get as much done before I'm 30.

How old are you, and what made you want to get YOUR MIS first before an MBA?

Ohhh I think you got it a bit confused man

MIS is my undergrad major, Management Information Systems. Then once I graduate I want to get a MBA
But really my ultimate goal is to become the CIO of a company, going to take some serious work. I'm taking more marketing classes to help since my whole background is just technical.

Anyone starting out I would suggest you get a Technet license and a cheap HP Proliant server to bench. That way you can learn and increase you knowledge.

Biggest things right now are VOIP, Messaging (Email), and Wireless.

Comptia certs are trash by the way.

When I seen MIS, I was thinking a masters in information systems.

If you have Security + and any of the Windows 7 (70-680 or 70-686), or can get them within 90 days (if you don't they'll fire you), I can get you on at Ft Sill making 58k + benefits. Yes, it's in Oklahoma. But if you can find nothing else, you could work here and stack up until you get on somewhere better. Look on usajobs, indeed, and CPOL. I have seen a lot of IT security jobs at airports too, which seems cool.

That's sick, how long will this be available ?

literally like the next week. 2 people just got fired, but they are always hiring. You can just get your resume in and have it there for next time they'e looking. If you get on, and manage to stay 90 days, I get a refferal bonus. I'll split it with you. PM me

with the right amount of lies you can get a level III helpdesk job easily usually they pay 75 k salary with benefits , and you get PTO and that 401 k thing

Still gotta know a thing or 2, but most of the time, u can get away with lying on your resume.

You said that last time, but what does that mean and how is it possible? You have to schedule the test to be proctored at an approved location and show ID.

And helpdesk isn't extremely difficult. It's mostly trouble shooting and there are knowledge bases for most problems, you can google and find the common solution. If nothing works, recreating the user profile fixes tons of things.

I just recently got my COMPTia A+ Certification.. that **** was super easy

The next 2 Im zeroing in on is Network + and the CCNA (Cisco Certification)

I know a dude that got his CCNA about 3 years ago and that boy is living the Life

and my A+ has opened up many doors for me

My suggestion is really focus on one specific thing and learn the hell out of it. There's a lot of ways a career can go for you- big data, cloud, network management, etc. Honestly, looks like big data is really winning right now, so look into Cassandra, Hadoop, Mongo and see if you're into it. NorCal and Northern VA/DC are the biggest markets for you. Lots of fun / highly funded startups in the bay area and lots of government cheese in the DMV.

If you're looking for more of the Networking end, then go for Cisco certs, but those jobs are much easier to outsource.

Dude why do you keep perpetuating blatant lies. Level 3 tech support? Really?

You are just setting up people to be fired or ruining their name at an agency. What is the point?

Embellishing what you did is one thing but straight up lying isn't going to get you very far.

regardless what degree you're getting at school, you'll still need to get your certifications afterward. They (we) look at certifications first.

Information Security/Information Assurance is a great field to be in.....especially in the DMV area. All the Govt agencies and Govt contractors are yanking those folks up.

I do contracts/acquisition and some program management where I compose teams of IT folks and submit them on proposals to the Govt.

Go to school....get an internship.....get a job....get your certs. You can be a GS-12 in less than 3 years after you graduate if you follow that. 80k+ a few years out of school is not bad at all.

Embellishing or expanding on your resume is one thing, but you better be able to make people like you and help train you up to par if you know absolutley nothing and fudged your resume to the max.

if you don't mind me asking, how did you prepare for the A+ exam?

My cousin is in IT, working at a help desk from what I understand. She gets paid well and the job itself seems relatively easy, but I couldn't work with the people that need her help.

Edit:

She works in the DMV area if that matters.
