one has a dollar for dollar fee for going over the soft cap the other has no salary cap...vs the nfl which has a hard cap, meaning you cant exceed that number like the other two...

of course the cowboys dont have the success the yankees and lakers do...youll never hear me argue that they do...

they do have the relevancy and interest every year...every year the media says the cowboys have a shot...for varying reasons, some you mentioned with the 'flashy' players...but the bottom line is, jerry makes this team competitive every year...

every season he brings in the talent, makes the changes that makes us favorites...of course thats a gift and a curse, with our recent failures...

but yes, just like the yankees, and exactly like the lakers...mr jones brings in enough new faces, mixed with some 'flashy' signings and there always relevant/competitive...never rebuilding...

give jerry a dollar for dollar soft cap, hed abuse it just the buss family, just like the steinbreinners... given the circumstances, he's the closest thing in football...maybe the patriots

We'll have to agree to disagree I guess.

Jerry has kept the Cowboys relevant, despite our 17 years of mediocrity. Dallas once again shattered the TV ratings with the highested rated games this season despite finishing 8-8.

Jerry may have had the GM name in title, but those teams construed in the 90s were Jimmy's. I feel like since Jimmy left, he's been trying to prove that he's been the brains behind everything. Jerry is the reason for this countryclub atmosphere. You have Jason Hatcher going on radiostations that the Cowboys have the roster to "be in the SB." We can't even make the playoffs, much less win two-three games to get to the big dance. But again, thats due to the countryclub atmosphere he has created. We lucked out with one ring in 95 with Switzer thanks to the 49ers getthing thrashed by GB in the divisional round.

Not a Cowboys fan obviously, but I agree here.  Yeah, he's kept you relevant...  As in he's a really good PR guy.  From a football perspective the Cowboys have not been relevant, they've been consistently average or below-average.

He was also a co-captain of the 1964 National Championship football team. He was an all-Southwest Conference offensive lineman for Hall of Fame coach Frank Broyles and a teammate of Jimmy Johnson.

On February 25, 1989, Jones purchased the Cowboys from H.R. "Bum" Bright for $140 million. Soon after the purchase, he fired longtime coach Tom Landry, to that point the only coach in the team's history, in favor of his old teammate at Arkansas, Jimmy Johnson

let Garrett rock. We need continuity on this team. I feel a lil better about the defense with the Marinelli hiring. Makes it more like a partnership with him and Kiffin and he is no sloutch if he has to take over for Kiffin later down the road. they still should of held off on firing rob. Hopefully we will start taking the ball away which will help us tremendously! the bears were one of the best taking the ball away last year as we witnessed ourselves.

sorry i dont like trading draft picks to move up and get a guard. you look at some of the better guards in the leauge and most got pick 3rd and 4th round. look at the pro bowl roster only 2 out of the 9 where 1st round picks.  you dont trade picks in the future to move up from 18 to pick a guard. i dont mind picking one at 18 but i sure as hell wont trade up for one.

and now with this Jay **** we need a NT

Warmack is worthy of trying to trade up... Everyone is saying he is Day 1 Ready for the NFL...

Coop would be good. But Warmack and Tyron on the left side would be pimp.gif

that would make that side so filthy...id love to trade up to get him for a late rounder...

we need early round picks...alot of oline depth, there will be some steals...

our oline needs adressing across the board..everyone can/should be upgraded, included free

Garrett isn't the bonehead throwing interceptions to the other team though. Doesn't matter who the coach is, the coach is not the problem.

They had Parcells, the bonehead couldn't make a routine hold for the placekicker in the Seattle game.

Romo needs to mange games and not try to be the star get a good line let murray run and playaction

If we don't draft DJ Fluker, we will WEEP/REAP. Guy is the perfet RT for us. He has Erik Williams/Larry Allen written all over him. That tape does not LIE! Hindsight is 20/20 but, we should've never released leonard davis, kept his butt at one of the guard positions. Tyron is only going to get better. Pair him with Fluker for the next 10-12 years. Two young, bookend, athletic Tackles, with aggressive skill sets. Look at San Francisco's O-Line. 3 first rounders, Staley, Iupati, Davis. Nuff said (And Alex boone, who was a blue chip prospect and was thought to be a 1st round pick, once he entered the NFL). If we don't draft Fluker, he's going elsewhere, and will be a pro bowler for YEARS.

If Cowboys release Free they open up $7mil in cap... Keep him and he cost $10 mil... Pretty much have to release him..

Also Mel Kiper's latest draft board has Chance Warmack dropping all the way to 18 to us.. God please let that happen..

Tyron - Warmack - Cook - ??? - Parnell that left side would be deadly.

i think miles is safe...doug free and ratliff should be concerned tho...

and ive seen mocks that have warmack coming to us, also saw some with cooper (G from UNC) falling to us...so either way its looking like well get good value in the 1st round...

and i pray pray pray ryan cook nd jeremy parnell arent our options to replace costa and free...clear downgrades

That's who we have at the depth chart... Not sure that stands..

But Cook was decent last year.. I think we'd be fine with him..... Parnell probably because he knows the system, but I agree that the right side would be weak.

you can replace a WR easy. and cowboys have done a good job of finding WR. we wont miss miles much

its no way we can have a totally revamped line next year, and upgrade while doing so..so somebody (between cook,costa,bernadue,parnell)..possibly multiple somebodies...for bernadeu to be such a huge guy, he gets manhandled way too often..costa nd parnell would be my choices to return...

@bigmike23 - i dont think its as easy as you think man...we hit a lick with laurent, hopefully dwayne harris continues to blossom...but i think keving ogletree and his lack of progression proves that it aint as easy as it looks to get quality receivers...dude has been gifted the #3 wr job and made no improvement...still the same silly mistakes...

@ackdaquick - you gotta take what they say with a grain of salt...of course they gotta stroke the players ego, include him in future plans, in case he actually returns..i for one think ratliff is the 2nd worse contract after frees...wouldnt surprise me one bit to see him cut...dude stats decrease every season..cant stay healthy..

rosters are just a headache until after the draft..nobody will show their hand..everyone gives out half truths..

I think Austin will be fine... Cowboys have potential with Harris, but they still need Miles in the mix. If Ogletree continued with his hot start & stayed consistent all season, it might be a different story, but I see him coming back.

Well it's hard to manage games when your Rushing game is 31st in the NFL and your Passing attack is #3.. And if you hadn't noticed Murray can't stay healthy.. Romo is the Cowboys.. He's the reason we won 8 games.. Now just imagine if we had a run game or a Defense that pressures opposing QBs or forced turnovers.. We'd be in the playoffs every year
post #653 of 765

Austin Is Staying. Restructured Alot Of Contracts.. Happy About That...

Sensabaugh Getting Released... Eh, He Was good. Didn't make big plays, but really didn't cost us big plays..  That Defense got hit with the injury bug hard last season with LB's and the safetys... Church NOW needs to be healthier than ever.

with the cap issues and how trash he was before this year i rather let him walk. they tagged him so they can sign him to a long term deal.

They also might have tagged him to trade him and at least get something for him. A soon to be 30+ year old, in a changing scheme, who only stepped up big in his contract year makes me kinda nervous.

Dallas Cowboys Signed safety Will Allen from steelers. Happy we filled the Safety position. Still wondering how we were able to afford him with just under 200k cap.
