THE OFFICIAL 2023 DALLAS COWBOYS OFF-SEASON THREAD || Cowboys Gonna Cowboy

Jerry Jones gave Romo money like he was Brady, Manning or Brees. If that doesn't tell you how ****** up his mind is, then I don't know what to tell you.

If Romo wins a Super Bowl he will be in the same category as those QBs you mentioned.
That contract was front loaded and will be restructured if Romo doesn't get the job done.

This dude  S J King gotta be Jerry Jones kin or something.

Jerry Jones is main person responsible for the Cowboys mediocrity over the last decade or so.

He got so upset because Jimmy Johnson got the credit for the Cowboys success in the 90s (and deservedly so) he decided to take a more hands on approach to the team so that any subsequent success would be given to him.

How has that worked out thus far? :smh:

You said it's the head coaches job to win the Super Bowl and not the GM. However it is the GM's job to hire a head coach capable of winning a Super Bowl, not yes men that acquiesce to his every whim; that he can undermine and meddle with like the Jason Garretts and Dave Campos of the world.

Jerry needs to check his ego. He's the only owner that conducts post-game interviews after every game; that irks me beyond belief. :smh:

Jerry even said himself that if any other GM had the track record he had, they would be fired with the quickness.

But that's not happening in Dallas, and that's the problem.

Jerry needs to realize that being the owner and GM of a team doesn't mean that he has to be the face of it, and until he does that the Cowboys will continue to swim in the waters of mediocrity.

out of reps.
Here's what I'm tired of. Everybody acting like we haven't won our division recently.
Everybody acting like we haven't had winning seasons recently.
How many of yall have actually went back and looked at our team record each year since 1999?
Let me answer that for you, NONE.

As a fan WAAAAAAYYYYYYY before Jerry bought the team, I understand its fun to bash the Cowboys.
We have the same ups and downs as any other pro franchise, yet its made out to be so much worse when its the Cowboys.
I have decided to look at the reality of my favorite team, and the reality is we are a great franchise.
The reality is, when we won 3 championships in 4 years everybody was nut riding the star.
Now we hit some turbulent times, everybody wants to kick us while were down.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but history does repeat itself.
And if that is the case we are due to be back on top, and I believe that time is now.
I'm riding with the STAR!

Dude I told you the Cowboys record since 2000 is 102-104.....does adding the 8-8 record from 1999 matter?

The 3 Super Bowls in 4 years happened over 17 years ago!

Ok, so one person knows the record. But you fail to acknowledge during that time we won the division more than once.
We went 13-3 in '07 and were it not for Jason Garrett's dumb game plan against the Giants, we probably win the Super Bowl.
And you act as though 17yrs is an eternity!
I will take 3 Super Bowl wins in the last 17yrs over none at all in that same span of time.

The Cowboys have won the division twice since 1999.

I doubt the Cowboys are going to beat the Packers at Lambeau Field or beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl

17 years is a long time ago! .Dez Bryant was like 7 the last time the Cowboys won the Super Bowl

But I like how much faith you have in Jerry Jones. I cant knock it

How is winning a 4 team division twice 14 years an accomplishment?

Hey when your division has the most super bowl wins and Superbowl appearances not to mention the most NFC championship wins ill take that over people who haven't even sniffed the playoffs. We play in a tough division if we were playing in the AFC East instead of the pats we would beat up on the Jets bills and dolphins every year stay healthy and win championships like they do. Every year we fight to stay competitive in our division nothing is easy and nothing has been given to us.

Didn't classify that as an accomplishment, but why should it be frowned upon?

Slicknick951 thats real football talk bro. These cats act like I'm talking about playing Madden.
The Cowboys were the "Team of the 90s".
No team in the modern era has repeated as "Team of the Decade".
Free Agency and parity doesn't allow that to happen.

In the last 17 years the NFC East has the same amount of Super Bowl appearances of any other division. This perceived toughness of the NFC East is overrated. The North has 4, the East has 4, the West has 5 and the South has 4.

In a 4 team division a team should win a division title once every 4 years or so by default.

Al Davis had accomplished as much as Jerry Jones has and went to a Super Bowl more recently than him and by the end of his tenure the Raiders were a joke.

Its getting to that point here in Dallas.

The Toronto Huskies won a NBA championship 60 years ago. At what point is that no longer relevant?

It's not relevant here anymore for most people... The overwhelming majority of people in Dallas think this thing is a train wreck and that we're working really, really hard to repeat 8-8 seasons for eternity.

I'm sorry, if Romo wins a super bowl. That's a big "if"......... He still wont be in the league of Manning/Brady/Brees. YEAH-He would join a list of QB's with a ring. However that elite list of QBs have been putting up MVP numbers year after year. Flaco got the ring but I still wont put him in the same club as Brady and Manning. Its already a slap in the face that Romo is getting paid on that level. But to sit here and hear he is on ring away is crazy. LMAO Romo has never even been in the top 5 MVP list since he been in the NFL but he is up there with the MVP QBs?

Elite this, elite that. Quit latching onto that media hype. Is the measuring stick Super Bowl wins or MVP trophys?
And why are you putting Peyton Manning and Drew Brees in the same category as Brady? Because of their stats?
And that "if" about Romo isn't big at all. I'm in Dallas and see the transition that's being made.
Three solid drafts in the last three years. Legitimate weapons on offense.
Great linebacker core and a solid secondary. Defensive line will be a question mark because of the new scheme.
I'm calling 11-5 maybe 12-4.

I agree if Tony Romo wins the Super Bowl the upcoming season, ESPN would anoint him as an elite quarterback.

I ain't mad. But you think honestly we could get this record? I'd be grateful for 10-6

If you take into consideration Garrett's dumb play calling last year, that's easily 3 additional wins.
I don't see us getting any worse. Romo with more control means a more uptempo offense.
Similar to what we saw in the 4th quarter of games when he would go hurry up.

Yeah, I Don't why our offense stalled in the 1st half in the last 8 games of the season then after half time the offense was just balling out and catching up to ALMOST winning the game. Like The Giants/Saints/skins game... Still would like to know what was discussed in that locker room at half time to get our offense rolling..

There were so many games last year where our offense was 2 totally different stories in games (slow in the 1st half, then quick moving in the 2nd). Those games we were playing catch up in the 2nd half due to how slow we looked in the 1st, but our offense did look real good when we were fast paced. Hopefully there's more of that this season with Romo being in charge more.

This season I'd be happy with 10-6 :nerd:

I would be very happy with 10-6. I see more of an 8-8 year tho.

The main thing i want to see is more turnovers by our defense. Give our offense a shorter field sometimes. I still dont get spending so much money on man corners then bringing in the cover 2 but whatever.

This happens EVERY offseason, time goes by and people just forgive Romo an think...oh well, he isn't all that bad.

Dude is/was supposed to be our DAMN FRANCHISE/BEST PLAYER for the last 6-7 years now! An you can't tell me ya'll are 100% confident he's going to show up every game as our leader and best player. One bad, not so great game here an there is one thing, but dude can rarely string 5 games together where he doesn't take a catastrophic step back...

19 interceptions last year, 19?!?! From out best player...our leader...our savior? The MNF and Chi-Town games last year were just the final tips of the iceberg for me man, ya'll can keep riding for this n_ but I can't, I love my cowboys to the death but I can't accept mediocrity for all these years and live in denial about Romo in particular.

:rolleyes  I feel you but lets wait and see if the additions they got in the offseason can help take some of the burden off of him. Romo is the soul reason this team was not 4-12 last year with the crumbling O-line, non-existent run game, and inconsistent D unable to make 3rd down stops. You dont remember how frustrating Drew Bledsoe was holding onto the ball, or the lackluster qb's before that? Lets see if they can stay healthy, block a little better, run for some conversions and scores, and force some turnovers to make everything more balanced out.

IRVING, Texas – Dez Bryant just seems comfortable.

Whether it’s on the field or off, at home or in the spotlight, he’s finally content. It’s not difficult to see he’s grown as a person and a player, and he knows that.

“I’d say I found myself,” Bryant said. “I’m comfortable with my life and I’m enjoying being in the NFL. Wish it could have been a couple of years back, but I had to go through a couple of things to figure it out. I got it, and I’m just more focused on my job and doing what I love to do, and that’s just play football.”
