THE OFFICIAL 2023 DALLAS COWBOYS OFF-SEASON THREAD || Cowboys Gonna Cowboy

the end of our schedule scares me :nerd: however, im glad we finally have a late bye for once... that could end up being clutch.

the front end of our schedule really works in our favor... we could get off to a GREAT start. in the past, we've messed up taking game we were supposed to win though. i have a lot of confidence in the team going into this year though, so im expecting good things.

5 years $30 million seems more reasonable, but it's Jerry's money and he has plenty of it.
If Lee stays healthy he will earn every penny of that contract.

He's worth way more than that. The contract is incentive based with him getting more money if he plays 80% of snaps on D. He's getting around 12 million less guaranteed money than Wills/Bowman and he graded out as the best MLB by far on PFF last year before he got hurt. Also have to remeber that its universally accepted that the Switch to Tampa 2 will take advantage of his skillset more than Rob Ryans D did. This could be a bargain if he stays healthy. And I really think he will.

In lee's contract there is a Injury insurance policy in there.

Smart move by the staff for the deal.

I love the youth we have on this team. Esp. On the defensive side. Oldest we have is Will Allen, but his age won't slow us down and he's very experienced and brings the tempo and leadership to the defense. I see this team getting its swagger back this year.

Dez is so much like Michael Irvin football wise, his confidence is effecting the team in a positive way.
Last week Will Allen told reporters Miles Austin needed to stop being so soft, and that they could tell Miles he said it.
I think the hit Miles put on that DB was him showing he could be physical.

The team held its Blue and Silver debut today.
It's an open practice at the stadium, free to the public and just $10 to park.

Dress rehearsal tonight. These games have been a pretty good indicator of how the season would turn out the last three years. If we can pull off a nice win w/o 3 of our top 6 defenders I'll start to get really excited. Schedule really favors us this season.

49ers fan told me the preseason doesn't matter.
Dudes living in a dream world.
His teams starting QB hasn't played a full season, let alone start a full season, and he doesn't think the preseason matters.

Dallas draft picks have 4 picks this preseason, Travis Frederick has only given up one pressure. :smokin

Dez has 13 catches, 184 yards and a TD in less than 3 and a half quarters of game time.

Only saw highlights on the game. If Austin can stay healthy he can be a difference maker. Glad Jerry didn't cut him this season.

Our O-line is still struggling with getting a push in the running game. That right side with Free and Parnell was getting beat up yesterday. Gotta get that together.

If Miles can stay healthy we should be dangerous. I just want Dez, Miles, and Witten full healthy for one season thats all.

I read a little factoid the starting Dallas Defense hasn't allowed a TD this preseason...

0 TO's last night coming off of that sloppy AZ game... romo leading the offense into the end zone (twice at that) for the first time this preseason too. should be a good way to end the preseason (for the starters who probably won't play next game). :smokin

and against a pretty solid defense to add that.

Cinci was the Toughest Defense we played.  compared to OAK, Miami, AZ.

Im still skeptical about this defense. Webb made some good plays but I hate how far off he plays in that trail technique. He needs to tighten it up. If this line doesnt get to the qb and finish plays, this bend but dont break cover 2 **** wont work if you are missing tackles and not getting those sacks and turnovers. I can see some absolutely dreadful games where tons of yards are racked up from missed tackles and td's are scored instead of fg's when plays arent finished at the qb. BUT they have been looking promising this preseason so its something to think about.

The turnovers will happen. Not even worried about that honestly. The reason we had so little turnovers last year had little to do with our players. Rob Ryan just played straight man all game. This entire Defense is built on swarming around the ball and reading a qbs eyes.

Personally i had thought that the D was playing bad this pre season until i looked at the numbers. Offenses will rack up yards, but it won't matter if they're only getting 3 points and turning the ball over 2-3 times a game.

Rob Ryans defensive scheme needs a lot more fine tuning before it can be considered highly effective.
Monte Kiffin has solidified the Tampa 2 as a championship caliber scheme.
Add a hall of fame defensive end, talented young linebackers, an aggressive secondary, along with a defensive line that can control the run and we will have a pretty good defense.

i'm hearing hamstring injury... the same one that he had issues with before the start of camp.
