THE OFFICIAL 2023 DALLAS COWBOYS OFF-SEASON THREAD || Cowboys Gonna Cowboy

me neither but you never know, basically we have his entire defensive coaching staff

Just wondering you guys take, IF we were to fall to 2-4, does Jerry pull the trigger and snipe carrot top?

Nah like Chia said if he was to get fired it would be after the season is over. I hope he's not tho. I really believe he has this team going in the right direction. Young guys are developing, the scouting department is A1 and we aren't handing out/holding onto bad contracts any more.

And we cant keep changing head coaches every 4 years, need some continuity. Garrett / Jerry just need to see that the offensive philosophy they've been running doesn't work. Our best offense since 07 was ran by Kitna in 10 :smh: that'd unacceptable. With the weapons on offense there's no reason this offense can't be a top 8 scoring team.

Lets see what Nt's Cowboys brain trust says. Lets move on and look at some solutions yall. What needs to be done. How do we beat the Broncos and Peyton Manning?

Obviously running the ball and running it again and again through all four quarters, sustaining long methodical drives resulting in TD's and keeping Peytons possessions to a minimum is ideal. Do we use more man in our coverage mix? Do we assign a certain player to one of theirs? This defensive scheme doesnt blitz much but do we blitz more if the front 4 doesnt bring it like needed? Is there weaknesses we need to hide? Do we use Dunbar more? What to do about Demaryius Thomas, or Welker, or their run game? What is our gameplan?

Blitzing will help but won't stop them from scoring 28+ points.
Some games your offense has to win, and this is one of them.
Our defense and no other defense in the NFL will hold the Broncos to under 27pts.
Garrett and his Princeton buddies need to come up with a master plan for this offense and unveil it on Sunday.

I'm not upset at Carrot Top the Head Coach, it's Carrot Top the "I can't fully accept I'm no longer an offensive genius" that pisses me off.

500% agree. I still think we'll make the playoffs, but does it matter when you're out in round one? Sign even a decent OC and this team would be one of the ten best teams in the NFL.

you wanna know how you beat the Broncos right now?

1. You can't blitz, Manning kills you on the blitz. You have to get pressure with the front four and get pressure that way. Hit him, hit him, hit him!

2. Play mistake free football, not easy to do with Dallas.

3. Gotta score points, but field goals won't beat Denver so you need sixes instead of threes

4. Get going early, try to score first and keep rolling. Momentum will be huge in this game.

5. Stop Wes Welker, Demariyus is going to get his, but a guy like Welker could shred our secondary all day long.

6. Get the ball to Dez, less than 10 targets a game is a waste.

7. Get the ball to Dez

8. Get the ball to Dez

9. Get the ball to Dez

10. Get the ball to Dez

also get Murray the ball 20 times or more, when he gets 20 or more carries we always seem to win

I really don't think beating this Broncos teams is rocket science, as of today every secondary/defense they've faced is trash or in re-building mode. From a talent standpoint, we match up with them across the board, this game is really going to show what our coaching staff is made of on a lot of different levels.

My main question is what type of defense do you guys think we should commit to; a lot of blitizing/man-coverage, zone coverage, or stopping the run/man-coverage?

From a offensive stand point it's the same ol song;
If we don't run the ball early and often, we'll lose.
If we don't control the clock and come out flat, we'll lose.
If we don't get the ball to Dez, we'll lose.

I'd run the same defense we ran in 2010 against him, zone looks, but we aren't that good in zone coverage

I'd rather see man to man coverage, but I've always felt Manning struggles with zone looks

that year I thought we could beat the Saints, our 09 team was good enough to win a super bowl, but this year I think Denver destroys us, hope I am wrong though

I posted this lat year.

We're making the playoffs.

7-0

- 8-0
- Punt team sick.gif horrible out there. We were top notch before that return by philly and now this game (near blocks, terrible kicks. This needs to be fixed and they've already shown that they can be great, no excuses.
- oline, my goodness they did well at first but then fell off a cliff. I'm hoping that was more just Cincy's beast d-line.
- Defense way to not break but still, need to tighten up.
- Receivers were bad today. Way to many drops. I'm thinking Harris should be the third over Ogletree. Ogletree has been really bad for a while now. Miles needs to step it up.
- Please stop getting hurt, it's getting bad
- Overall, way to come through for Jerry Brown (RIP). The statement by his family even extending their prayers to Brent was real touching. That's a strong unit.

I don't think we have a chance winning this game barring a fluky Broncos injury but for whataver crazy reason we actually do well against Manning. Can't forgot Roy Williams pushing the tight end down in the endzone and picking off the pass (no call for Peyton too  and this was when Roy started bumming it), Burnett's INT ret TD (another dude who became a bum, had high hopes for him |I, and last time Scandrick picking off Peyton of all qbs and housing it.

We're about to get smashed though.

On a related note, this is why i held back about the optimism going into the season. Ya'll almost had me convinced to go in without my usual cautiously optimistic approach.

I dont see us winning but im looking for more things now. I want to see if our offense can put up 28 points.

Im sick of hearing about Mo, its time for him to step up and be a player.

Dez should be targeted early and often

Williams has to stop the mental mistakes.

If Carter cant help with Denver's TE we have NO shot

Carter has been benched also. Ernie Sims will start at WLB.

The only way to win this game is to play mistake free football. One thing that will be necessary to win that is going unnoticed is ST. We will have to play solid ST, maybe a punt returned for a TD or at least start in good field position with most of our possessions. We also can't afford to give Peyton short fields. So no more 56 yard FG's :smh:

Despite knowing in my mind that we are about to get torched, I'm really excited to go to AT&T Stadium for the first time. If we somehow pulled off a win, I'm getting on TV somehow  .

My optimism is also a little high due to the fact that these fools (Denver) have to lose at SOME point. Why not to us?

Anyone else going to the game this Sunday? I know I picked a bad game to go to being that we are probably going to get demolished by the 3rd quarter but I didn't think Denver would look like this back in August.

Benching Carter is stupid, kid is a stud he's just learning a new defense

Love the 4-3, I dislike Tampa two though

Justin Durant isn't practicing right now so Carter will probably end up starting anyways.

I'm a little less worried about Mo after reading some of his pre-draft scouting reports. Every single one mentioned that he had little to no experience in the zone at LSU. If we honestly think about his struggles this year they've almost entirely came in the zone. With no experience in zone at school and after missing the preseason again it's not surprising how he's playing in it.

When Mo is matched up man to man he's lived up to his draft status imo. From what I've read the past week the team is preparing to play more man than zone this week vs Denver. Hopefully they'll keep doing that (at least on Mo's side) until he learns the ropes.

Mo has just shown me too many flashes for me to consider him a bust. I remember this same conversation about Dez the prior two years. I don't think he'll ever be a shutdown corner like Revis or a playmaker like Patrick Peterson, but he will be a top flight corner in this least.

By the way how great has Brandon Carr played. Haven't even noticed him all season. First free agent signing in like 15 years that's lived up to his contract  :smh:

Carr has been great since he got here

we should play man with our corners, Mo in man is really good

This.

As a coach, you have to make adjustments to your oppenent and in favor of your personal sometimes, in a match-up like this week you have to mix it up. I'm going to be irate if Manning starts torching this defense early and we don't have a plan b, as a cowboys fan I expect to win every time we step on the field, especially at home... this week is no different :pimp:

Miles isn't practicing again today, most likely won't play Sunday. How many times is this team going to undersell injuries? For now on everytime they say a injury is minor I'm just going to assume that means out for a month :smh:

HC isn't a winner. Goes into games with too much doubt.
He always has a great post game speech after a loss.
Which goes to show he has mentally prepared for a loss.
He would be great in somewhere like Arizona where expectations aren't that high.
If were not 5-3 at the break this season is over, and Jerry is going to choke slam somebody.
