THE OFFICIAL 2023 DALLAS COWBOYS OFF-SEASON THREAD || Cowboys Gonna Cowboy

Wasn't gonna post this in the other thread because proshares brought up a valid point about people's stance on things.

But I did some research of course, and just wanted to point out how misleading that ESPN stat is of "Romo has thrown 7 INTS when the game is tied or up in the 4th quarter or OT."

First and foremost, this in LOSSES which is why its misleading.

Many other QB's have thrown just as many INTS in this same scenario, but if their defense makes a stop and they win the game, its not included in this stat.

In this exact same scenario, Romo has 20 TD's, 7 INTS which is just about a 3:1 Ratio.

The next closest? Aaron Rodgers with 13.

In terms of our future, it may be best to lose out just to get rid of Garrett. But I know come Sunday, we will all be glued to the TV on Sunday to see what our team does because at the end of the day, we're fans. On that note, some news...

Mo Claiborne expected to TRY to practice this week

Ernie Sims having MRI done on hip injury

Sean Lee most likely done for the year

Our best corner last night wasn't 50 million dollar Carr, GlassBourne or Scandrick. It was a guy named Sterling Moore. The same guy this coaching staff released before the start of the season.:smh:

:smh:

It's just crazy. Not one of those dudes will ever say anything negative and always stop just short of being too critical of the Cowboys outside of players...

Babe said something negative on the radio broadcast last night and then joked that he was afraid he might get fired... :smh:

And don't forget they won't say anything negative about Jason Garrett.
But yesterday Troy Aikman sounded like he had seen enough.

I didn't even watch the second half, I watched the first half and ended up going to the movies. Thank god I went and saw a movie because if I stayed to watch that second half I would have bugged out.

The sad part is, even with a 26 point lead I had no confidence in them. The way they were taking 3s over 7s in the first half I knew this game was destined to go the other way.

Jerry just said on the fan that he isn't worried about fan apathy because the Cowboys put on "an entertaining show" and "its exciting."

He isn't lying. All our games are exciting. But this confirms that as long as the $$$ rolling in, Jerry could care less.

Which is why I said is much as losing hurts, if we keep losing like we did during the Campo years, eventually it will hurt his pockets. Giving him another SB to make him feel that those Jimmy SB's were all him would be sickening IMO.

Its hard to juggle. Cowboys getting another lombardi and having all the haters slicing their wrists while simultaneously giving Jerry satisfaction, or allowing the haters to enjoy themselves for another few years at the expense of major changes coming about?

Allow the haters to enjoy themselves for another few years. We see what winning that third Superbowl w/o Jimmy has caused Jerry to believe, winning another one now would be of no long term benefit.

If they don't win that chip with Switzer there's no doubt in my mind that the backlash from fans, media and even players would force Jerry to concede and bring Jimmy back. Emmitt, Troy and Michael still seemed pissed about Jimmys firing. If they never win that third Superbowl to ease the pain then there's no way they would've stood for Jerry being the way he is.

Still say there should only be two coaches in Cowboys history... Landry and Johnson. But this dude Jerry :smh:

Thing is whenever Jerry can't lead the team his son will take over, and I have nightmares that Stephen will be the same exact way. We could be looking at the team being run like this for another 40+ years :smh: :smh:

That's exactly how I feel. At the end of the day, once the laughs n giggles are done from week 17, the Eagles will remain with no lombardi's anyway.

Irvin talked about it on "A Football Life" last year, stating that he and Troy still talk about it to this day, that if Jimmy never left, they would have 2-3 more rings.

Jerry crushed my dream of being the first team in NFL history to win 3 SB's in a row. Winning SB 30 was a great birthday present but at the expense of 17 years of him believing he knows what he's doing.

I think going 13-3 with Wade was Jerry's best chance to get another one.

EDIT: This snow has made for an extremely slow day at work.

Interested in knowing everyone's thoughts on who the next HC should be. We know Jerry is here to stay.

I'll get hated for this but I honestly wouldn't mind Gary Kubiak or Ken Whisenhunt. Ray Horton would be ideal and having Kubiak/Whisenhunt as an OC

No on Kubiak... Would like Whisenhunt. He was awesome in Arizona until he had to run out Leinart, Derek Anderson and Kevin Kolb at QB.

Chris Carter kept it so real last night on Monday Night Countdown!

Cris Carter unloaded on the Dallas Cowboys during Monday Night Countdown.

The Cowboys blew a 23-point lead and lost to the Packers 37-36 to move to 7-7. Late in the game, Joe Buck said, “The Cowboys have gone away from their running game, which is impossible to explain.”

Buck also said, “This is going to go down as one of the worst defeats in the history of the Dallas Cowboys. I go back to play-calling offense, not running the ball when they had the lead when Green Bay showed they couldn’t stop the run.”

After the game, Jerry Jones, who recently backed his head coach, made an utterly amazing statement. Jones said, "I was firm for one night (about Garrett) at that time and that doesn't call for me having to be firm every morning I get up."

This evening, Carter said, “Nothing is going to change in Dallas. I don’t know why we’re pondering like something…

Chris Berman interjected, “Because they’re Dallas.”

Carter said, “Well, let me tell you what they are. They’re like when you go through the drive-thru and say you want a No. 2 and they ask you if you want it jumbo-sized or super-sized. They (the Cowboys) are super sorry, Boom. I’m talking about sorry.

“They are a sorry football team; they are a sorry outfit and I don’t even know why we have great expectations for them. Like they are sorry. Not sorry like ‘I’m sorry I talked to you that way.’ Sorry as in performance. And I don’t’ expect it to change and I don’t expect it to get any better. I don’t expect Jerry to come up with any… This is what Jerry is doing right now. It’s going to be this way for a long time."

Keyshawn believes Jason Garrett isn’t the right man for the job, adding that the head coach next to be an authoritative person like Parcells was.

Carter said, “Jerry Jones is not hiring no one who tells him what to do. Call him.”

The crazy part is that at 7-7, the Cowboys still control their own destiny to get into the playoffs. It could come down the final week of the regular season when Dallas plays Philadelphia.

Kubiak? he's ok, but better options out there

what about a younger college coach who uses numbers and data? kinda of like Chip Kelly, Dallas doesn't even use like sports science/math in their organization like many other teams are doing, they need to get with the times and start

We're stuck in the dinosaur era. We're living off of the success we had 20 YEARS AGO! We haven't put a quality product on the field since we went 13 -3 :smh:

I want no parts of Kubiak, the Texans offense stinks, always has.

major changes needed, until then this team doesn't interest me anymore, it just doesn't and that's wrong but truth

Terrance Williams may not play Sunday due to a hamstring injury, becoming the 12th player on the Cowboys to suffer from some type of hamstring injury.

Is there something in the water around Valley Ranch? This goes beyond "bad luck." Something is seriously up...

Miles Austin rubbing off on everyone

We're the mother f'n Dallas Cowboys, miss me with that Kubiak talk, I'll be damned if we get the Texans' left-overs... no sir.

I really would perfer a somewhat young cat with his own scheme, agenda, and set of rules... i.e. Chip Kelly, Tomlin, etc.

We arent "that" anymore man. With Jerry saying he doesn't hire a GM because he would make the final decision anyway told me everything i needed to know about where we are headed smh. The fact that dude doesn't even take into consideration others opinion disappoints me but does not surprise me smh.

Dude is so hung up on getting his "own" title hes handicapping the franchise and multiple good/great players prime :smh:

This dude is 71 years old though...

Does he really want to die in the damn owner's box trying to control it all? I used to laugh at what was transpiring in the Raiders franchise with Al D. doing/saying outlandish things on a regular basis, look at me/us now.

me too, now it's happening to us.......

I know this sounds horrible but I can see Jerry Jones living another 30+ years :smh: Going to be dealing with him for a lonnnng time.

And then his mini me will take over.

Oh and this strength and conditioning staff needs to be the first group of people given the boot. And whatever rehabilitation center we have needs to be torn down. Literally goes against the rules of nature for a team to be hit by injuries like this two years in a row. It has to be caused by something that is/isn't being done at Valley Ranch.

Ratliff was right :smh:

Stephen Jones seems decent, he wanted to hire a football advisor and also wanted to hire Shannahan a few years ago. I feel much better with him running the franchise, he isn't egotistical like Jerrah.

^^ All that is true but this was a couple years ago. Have you listened to Stephen's interviews this year? He has a show once a week, and is following in the same footsteps as his daddy. It looks like he's slowly transitioning to Jerry Jr.

Madden had some interesting things to say:

SiriusXM NFL Radio ‏@SiriusXMNFL26m
John Madden sums up the @dallascowboys "There's too many spoons in the pot"

SiriusXM NFL Radio ‏@SiriusXMNFL18m
Madden on Tony Romo "No matter how you cut it, he's one of the 10 best QB's in the NFL but they just don't have the talent in Dallas"

SiriusXM NFL Radio ‏@SiriusXMNFL16m
More Madden "Jason Garrett knew what he was getting into. Jerry Jones has been the same way since he's been digging for oil" #Cowboys

Mad Dog Sports Radio ‏@MadDogRadio16m
Madden on what he would have said to Dez Bryant as he was walking away: "Get your butt back here"

Mad Dog Sports Radio ‏@MadDogRadio17m
Madden on Dez leaving field early: "Yeah, I had a big problem with it.. There's no excuse for it" #Cowboys

Mad Dog Sports Radio ‏@MadDogRadio19m
Madden on DAL: "We can blame Jerry (Jones), Jason Garrett... but at some point we look at the roster and see they don't have good players"

Mad Dog Sports Radio ‏@MadDogRadio20m
Madden on Cowboys: "Do (they) have the players to be one of the best teams in the league? No (they) don't"

Mad Dog Sports Radio ‏@MadDogRadio1h
Madden on DAL: "You assume they have good players.. you think they're Lombardi's Packers, and they're as far from that as you could be"

Mad Dog Sports Radio ‏@MadDogRadio1h
Madden on DAL: "They've had bad draft choices, injuries, haven't built a team.. They really don't do anything consistently well"

Ed Werder also reporting that Garrett will most likely stay if we win the division as Jerry wants to prove people wrong about Garrett, since he handpicked him so long ago.

Fellas, I'm sorry but we have to lose out/not make the playoffs. I can deal with the ridicule and hate as that's what comes with being a fan of America's Team. But I can't take the ridicule and hate KNOWING there is no hope next season because we bring back Garrett.

The division was literally handed to Dallas on a silver platter this year. This has been the worst NFC East division in its entire existence. Yet, here we are in a situation in which we must win the next two (assuming Philly beats Chicago).

Garrett has to go just so Romo can get the opportunity to work with SOMEONE ELSE in his career before he really starts to decline.

Completely agree. Don't get me wrong I'll still watch the games and talk some trash to Eagles fans if we win the division. But I definitely want them to lose so we can some new blood in.

Jerry on The Fan the other day also brought up how nobody expected the Ravens to win it all last year. :smh:
This dude is a damn clown.

Jerry is an idiot when it comes to football, simple as that. An old stubborn naive idiot :smh: ... I hope and pray Kurt Cousins has the game of his life on Sunday and the Sheagles take us out of our misery by beating the Bears.
