THE OFFICIAL 2023 DALLAS COWBOYS OFF-SEASON THREAD || Cowboys Gonna Cowboy

No weapons?  Boldin, Crabtree, Vernon Davis, Stevie Johnson......those aren't weapons?  Each one of them would easily be the #2 weapon on the Cowboys.  Johnson is debatable, but not that far fetched.

I don't see how you can say that they think they are just going to roll up on Sunday and the Cowboys are going to lay down.  PLayers have already been quoted saying how week 1 is going to be a challenge.  I can dig them up if you'd like.

I dont really disagree with this apart from one thing I would like you to clarify.  "Their run game isnt what it once was."  Could you expand and elaborate on this?  Gore had over 1100 rushing  yards and 9 touchdowns last season.  If he tails off a bit, which could happen, our #2 running back is someone who is widely considered the best rookie running back in the NFL.  So to assume that our running game isnt what it once was is kind of silly IMO.  To your point about Kap, yes he can be game planned for now.  But does your team have the necessary talent on defense to carry out said game plan?  Time will tell.

I look forward to a good game regardless.

The reason the 9er running game will not be what it once was is the fact that upatti looks as though he forgot how to block Boone isn't in camp Davis can only block the guy right in front of him and yes Gore is older (i have Hyde in all four of my leagues) the line is toast

The d will be ok vets won't make mistakes but without Smith, Bowman and Dorsey how strong will that front seven be?

Are you going to he game? I fly out of sfo on the 6th. Have you been to the new stadium why did they build an oversized Stanford that will never get loud not having any fans on one side I was there for soccer so it could be better than what I have seen

As a sports better, I watched a lot of 49ers games towards the end of the year as I had pretty good gauge on them as a whole, so I liked to bet their games. The last 5 games of the season their run-game was largely reliant on Kaep popping a gimmicky/broken play big run more than a consistent ground-n-pound game that you couldn't stop even with 8 men constantly in the box.... was this because teams were selling out on making CK7 beating them with his arm, injuries, etc.? I'm not a 100% sure but I felt like they definitely lost their edge in the run game that I used to think was virtually impossible to stop at certain points these last two years and to state it nicely, they didn't have a passing game to fall back on either.

To answer your last question, do we have the talent? Yes, because they're NFL players and have made it to this level they're competent enough to slow down a 49ers offense that's far from a juggernaut just enough to let our offense cook, which is all we need to get that dubya.
I understand where you are coming from.  I just think that the combination of a year older Gore and Carlos Hyde is better than what we had last year.  Like I said, time will tell.

I find your last comment to be ridiculous though.  When describing your defense and saying that  "They are NFL players and have made it to this level so they're competent enough....."  is a comical statement.  Would you say that the Jaguars had a competent enough offense in 2013?  Well those are NFL players too.

I have no doubt your defense will be improved this year.  But like I said, time will tell if they are improved enough.

Iupati has never been a strong pass blocker.  He is still nails in the run blocking, and THAT is what this discussion is about.

I am not going to the game.  Yes I have been to the new stadium.....I have season tickets.  Seats are stacked on top of each other and the other side is a wall of glass that sound could bounce off of.  I wouldnt say that the stadium wont get loud.  Going to a preseason game or an MLS game should not be enough to form an opinion on noise.  We will see.

Amobi Okoye to NFI, Ben Gardner to IR as Cowboys get to 75
Posted by Josh Alper on August 26, 2014, 3:22 PM EDT

The Cowboys had so many injured players at training camp this year that it isn’t much of a surprise that they made several procedural moves involving them to get to the 75-man limit.

Seventh-round defensive end Ben Gardner was placed on injured reserve after having surgery to repair torn ligaments in his shoulder. Defensive tackle Amobi Okoye’s attempt to make a remarkable comeback from a life-threatening illness, meanwhile, will continue on the non-football injury.

The team waived-injured linebacker DeVonte Holloman, who has been advised to stop playing football because of a neck injury, and safety Matt Johnson, whose back injury might have been the final straw in a series of injuries that halted the 2012 fourth-round pick’s career before it really started. Tight end Jordan Navjar, cornerback Justin Green and cornerback Johnny Thomas were also waived-injured on Tuesday.

Not every move involved an injured player, however. Wide receiver Chris Boyd, punter Tom Hornsey, long snapper Casey Kreiter, defensive end Adewale Ojomo and guard Wayne Tribue were all waived and quarterback Caleb Hanie has been released

SF week 1 will be a good test.

I don't sleep on their D line and LB core. But their secondary is their weak link, who are even their starting corners? and can their starting corner handle a healthy, hungry week 1 Dez? LOL, RIP.

 I really think the defense will surprise people this year.

No logic behind it, I just do

I think of they have a lead and can put the four best pass rushers on the line at the same time they may be just OK but they will have little to no hope against the run

Oh yeah, we'll be killed in the run game. But I really don't think we'll be thrown against like we were last season.

I didn't know that Ware and the Cowboys have a deal in place for him to retire as a Cowboy :smokin Good stuff.

I'm so ready can't wait to touch down in dal also thinking about going to sea for the game since I passed on the London trip I have a little extra in my football budget
Seattle will be a nice trip.
Got me thinking about going to that game.
Gotta start pricing flights.

... terrible quality and all, I stay trying to analyze the **** out of shawty booty.

IMO, Murray and Petterson are the same type of runners. Getting AP doesn't really excite me. Murray was averaging over 5 yards per carry last year and the cowboys still didn't use him enough.

Hamilton wouldn't have played a down in those four games and he's not a stud special teamer not really a problem

Not upset about Hamilton, just pissed our D can't get right! Going on 3 straight years now, this is unreal. We'll be signing someone who was bagging groceries all summer any minute now:smh:
