THE OFFICIAL 2023 DALLAS COWBOYS OFF-SEASON THREAD || Cowboys Gonna Cowboy

He's signed to the practice squad pending a physical

Not a bad move I actually hope he sticks but I'm also glad he wasn't drafted by us so most of the hysteria is out of the way now

Guess we're getting Sam

We need all the defensive players we can get
Yep.

Imagine the chaos if we drafted Manziel and Sam?

makes no sense to have him on the PS, get him on the 53 and get him reps, he is better than we have already anyway

josh brent reinstated but suspended 10 weeks.

Josh Brent has been conditionally reinstated by the league and is eligible to play again for the Cowboys after 10 weeks.

The NFL ruled the Cowboys’ defensive tackle, who had retired with the team, will be suspended without pay until at least Week 11. The Cowboys don’t have a game that week, which means the earliest he could return to play is Nov. 23 against the Giants.

Brent hasn’t played since 2012 following a drunk driving accident that resulted in the death of his friend and teammate, Jerry Brown. It’s been 21 months since Brent last stepped onto the football field.

Owner/general manager Jerry Jones said at training camp Brent would be welcomed back by the team and would have a roster spot waiting for him if he got cleared to play. That was before any talk of a 10-game suspension, however.

Brent can’t visit the facility or participate in team activities the first six weeks of the season, according to a league release. He can return to team meetings and do individual workouts and conditioning in Week 7. He can practice by Week 9 if he complies with the conditions of reinstatement.

Any further law infractions or prohibited alcohol-related conduct will likely result in an immediate suspension and possible NFL banishment for Brent. He also must comply with court orders regarding probation, testing and monitoring.

Brent can appeal the decision within the next five days.

Still a sad, messed up situation.

My wife made a very valid point about the Josh Brent situation.
I was explaining what happened to my kids and I was emphasizing the importance of not drinking and driving.
My wife said it's just as important to not get in the car with someone drinking and driving.
Which brings up a very valid point that gets overlooked.
Jerry Brown was at fault as well, because he made a conscious decision to ride home with his drunk friend.

defense is knowingly going to be a problem for us this year, so if sam can help out, then im all for it. its just a question of how much of an impact he can have on defense.

At this point, we know he can rush the QB. I think I would've been upset if we didn't sign him, he fills a big need, get him on the field in situational opportunities and turn him loose.

I feel he is talented enough to play the position at a high level for about 10-12 plays a game, and get your defense about 5-6 sacks on key 3rd downs throughout the course of the season.
He could be a Greg Ellis type.

yet they have him on the PS, that really make no sense

with Lawrence going to IR, meaning he can't come back for 8 weeks, they need to put Sam on the 53

Waiting to see how we look this Sunday before I book my flight for the Saints game. Anyone else attending?

I'm unusually optimistic, primarily because the entire world has counted as out and put us at the bottom of this tick-ticky *** division. Our defense is starting to get healthy and if our offense can handle business for the first half, we'll be extremely healthy when November/December rolls around.

It's either 4-12 or 10-6. Regardless, the 8-8 curse breaks.

in there homie...

flight/hotel and game tiks been booked the last 2 months... no lookin back ova here!!!

honestly I rather go 4-12 and get a high pick for once, these mediocre seasons don't really help

if we get a high pick and actually KEEP them, then spend some money in free agency for once on defense, this team could be pretty good next year, but this year, its gonna be ugly

I think the offense will be really special this year, top 5 at WORST.. barring injury of course. I think the defense can rank around 22-26. I'm positive this team won't finish last in the division or be as bad as everyone thinks.

The cowboys believe Scandrick would be ready to go and could play Sunday if suspension is lifted. Good news

Pardon my ignorance and/or late pass but why would his suspension get lifted?
Probably because of the way he handled.
He was humble, apologetic, and accepted responsibility.
This should make him even more focused and determined to have a great season.

Some mess about the new rule I think. I was driving so I didnt read the full article.

You'd be surprised how many players have been suspended for molly
