THE OFFICIAL 2023 DALLAS COWBOYS OFF-SEASON THREAD || Cowboys Gonna Cowboy

Yeah that's why I was upset, most teams had Fred rated in the late 3rd early 4th .. we could've got him and Floyd or Reid with our 1st two picks .. what's done is done though, I hope most of the guys we drafted this year to pan out pretty well. It would be nice to see Randle get some touches, but the season is early.

with Floyd (their 4th or 5th rated player) and Reid sitting there I was ecstatic, I graded Fred out with a 3rd round grade, its done but Eric Reid would be looking pretty nice right now and Fred in the 2nd

Randle didnt even see the field the other night, that was terrible, Randle was a steal, get him in there and keep Tanner on the bench, I've always like Tanner but he has done nothing in a game, Randle has some speed and wiggle

I think they got some good players but overall I really didnt like this draft. Last year I loved the Claiborne pick but disliked about every other pick they made. I think Frederick Williams Wilcox Randle will all be good players for us though. I thought Williams was our best pick, a legit first round talent. If he stops catching the ball with his damn body and learns routes/offensive system he will be a great WR. He's big tall and fast.

Don't need Reid, we have Barry Church.
Frederick was 3rd or 4th to teams that didn't need a center.
Garrett was being greedy when he took Escobar.
Randle is 4th on the depth chart, but should be in the rotation by week 9 or 10.

Barry Church is great. Since he's come into the league he's produced whenever he's on the field. However, Will Allen is on the other side. I really like Wilcox and think he can be a long-term starter for us as soon as this year, but he ain't no Reid. However if Frederick starts for the next decade for us I'm sure we'll forget about missing out on Reid.

Yeah that was my point, Church is the least of my worries, it's Allen I'm concerned about. I like him, but not as our starting safety. I know he knows the scheme but Reid and Church plus Carr and Mo :x ... But like I said wats done is done.

How you guys feeling about the game on Sunday? I really hope we don't lay a egg in KC, its time to start winning the games we're supposed too win.

Look I love Barry church I thought he was a huge loss last year but he's a strong safety who cannot play free safety and ballhawk in a Tampa 2 single high safety role. He will be great at SS but if we had Reid who was probably one of the better single high safety prospects in the draft playing free safety in our defense we would be much better off.

Dallas hasn't had a natural free safety with ball skills and range in forever. They thought matt Johnson was that guy and from an athletic standpoint he is, but he is made of glass.

If this defense ever got a really good free safety with ball skills then they would be very good

Dallas has really been playing two strong safeties the last couple years. This year you may see major deficiencies with the pass defense because they don't have a free safety. Will Allen is a disaster waiting to happen having to cover a lot of ground.

Come draft time next year, DL and FS will be major priorities.

And let me say this, if Vaccaro was there for us when we were on the clock at 18 or whatever our original pick was I forget what it was now its been a minute, then I guarantee you Dallas runs to the podium to take him. They really liked him.

Wilcox has the potential to be a great player. He's violent and physical but he's very fast and a great athlete. He was a RB and WR before moving to safety. If he can adjust to NFL competition and learn a NFL defense, he will be a great pick for us

Captain I think we lose Sunday, I still don't believe in this team yet. I see an 8-8 team that's a few players away from 10-6, 11-5.

They looked great week 1 last year went on the road week 2 and got destroyed and that's still in the back of my mind.

Run D looked outstanding last week, if they do that again and force KC to rely on passing the ball, they could win this game.

I'm worried about KC defense, we've struggled against 3-4 defenses in the past and KC has two stud pass rushers in Houston and Hali, plus they've got Flowers Berry and some depth at CB and nickel back.

Not going to lie, my optimism for the season will decrease greatly if Dallas loses more than one of these next three games. Next 5 honestly. We play Green Bay, Chicago, Detroit, Minnesota , New Orleans and the Skins after week 6. A great start is crucial. And honestly I think they can.

The biggest problem with this team is they still don't have a "Michael Irvin" type leader.
Who is the person that when we're down 10 with 4min to go is going to get this team fired up? Is it Garrett???
Because I don't see him developing any leaders on this team.
So maybe he is going to take on that role this year.
And I want Jerry to start coming down to the sideline again.
I miss the good ol days

The amount of people doing everything to discredit our win vs the Giants is incredible. I guarantee if we went back and looked at the posts of people saying that Dallas 'almost lost after 6 turnovers' from last year when the Giants beat us we wouldn't find one person saying that then about New York.

Edit: Giants thread day of last year's game in Dallas. http://niketalk.com/t/503032/offici...13-season-manning-bowl-2013/480#post_16508111

Admittedly alot of them were disappointed it was close but I didn't see any of them trying to discredit the W. And the Giants were up more than the Cowboys ever were last week and came alot closer to losing (that Dez play still makes me mad :smh:) then we ever did.

NFL thread during the end if the Giants game is

I just really can't stand hypocrisy, no matter what's involved.

KC can be a possible trap game....

Yea it can be..word to last year in Seattle(although nobody knew Seattle was that good at the time)..the thing that worries me about this game is if the defense continues to give up big plays in bunches, we won't get very far..

Cause I doubt 6 turnovers happen again...I fully expect romo and the offense to find their groove (still show starting evidently)..

Like you guys said, this game is crucial to building momentum to start the season...cause the schedule gets tough after September...

On a side note..I'm getting so tired of Claiborne always giving a free release, always giving up inside leverage (thus the slant after slant Eli threw) and of course he's ALWAYS injured..lose confidence by the week in this kid..Eli was picking on him last week

Worried about this game too. Possible thunderstorms too so this game could get wacky.

I'd really like to see Romo back to scrambling or just taking a sack. I know the pass was tipped but that ball was thrown with TW not even looking. A sack and we could have just had 3 and thanks to Demarco hustling we kept them from seven. And last year that int at Washington....that was one first down. The old Romo would have pulled the spin move when he had a dude beelining him. I don't know why he doesn't run anymore. :smh:

I was actually happy when he took the sack late against the Giants. Our defense made a crucial stand next possession.

Dez is definitely someone to get the players fired up. If you have seen enough of him you know he brings that competetive fire to the practices, meetings, and definitely games. One or two more years he will be a solidified leader. Witten is pretty vocal and so is Romo. Will Allen brings good leadership with him too. Oh and keep Jerry up in the box with his man-slave unless its the Superbowl. Last thing you would want is a Ratliff-esque situation happening in front of the world.

Dez undoubtedly has a tremendous passion and love for the game.
At this point in his career he lacks the communication skills to be the type of leader this team needs.
Not sure if you guys have heard the stories about Michael Irvin and how he would give these Knute Rockne caliber speeches to the team.
But that's the type of leader this team needs to make a Super Bowl run.

I dont care he if he lacks communication skills, his emotion is infectious, watching games hes one of the few guys who gets pumped up and tries to get his teammates going idk I'd be willing to go to war with that guy any day of the week

but when it comes to Dez Bryant, I am biased, he is my favorite player...................all time (flame suit on, I am prepared for the incoming heat)

No flame suit my dude he's been my favorite WR since OK St, he can do no wrong in my eyes

But I get what homie means when he says he lacks the communication skills to fully get his point across to the team, at times he can get over passionate and it may come off the wrong way to some. Once he learns how to balance both, there's no doubt in my mind he will be the vocal leader on this team.

Exactly. Enhancing the words and actions of the other leaders; Romo, Witten, Allen, Lee

He's my favorite sports player in history. Period. Ever since I saw dude beasting in college and then him breaking down when he was drafted I've been convinced. Just watching Dez gets me hype.
