THE OFFICIAL 2023 DALLAS COWBOYS OFF-SEASON THREAD || Cowboys Gonna Cowboy

That's exactly what this teams needs, a WINNER! Someone with a proven track record. After a few 8-8 seasons, players will eventually stop buying into what you're preaching.

They already want refunds for buying that crap Garrett sold them.
We're the joke of the NFL.
I want Dungy and Jerry needs to go get him.

Dungy won one ring with arguably the best qb to ever play the game I dont think he's the answer

Gruden won with dungy's team

Del Rio ran the jag's into the ground

Doubt billick or cowher come back to the game

Boys need a new coach but it's not one of these guys and Michael Irvin is going to set this team back five years you really want another coach that has no experience that's what got us here in the first place(outside of having the worst gm in football)

That's such a terrible argument for not wanting Gruden he won with Dungy's team but faced his old team in SB. The reason Gruden is a bad hire because he's a terrible talent evaluator about 90% of the players he drafted
amounted to nothing or flamed out the NFL.

Still isn't the answer either way I agree with you I was just giving one reason per coach there are many more then just those two reasons why gruden won't work

We're in agreement that he's not right for this team, tell the guy who thinks he is...

Garrett is a decent coach, but these are the issues i've seen under his tenure

-Gameplans are very poor
-Players not put in best position to succeed using their skills or positives
-Failure to get elite WR (Dez) open, no moving him around or designed plays for him
-Failure to adjust mid game
-Players consistently fail to execute
-Sloppy football, mistakes and penalties
-Poor execution of plays that actually work
-Doesn't go back to what works, or sets teams up with something
-Over complicates things
-Doesn't seize opportunity on the field and off it (example taking play calling back)
-Poor time management

here are his positives (IMO)

-Dedicated and passionate coach
--At one time had a great offensive mind
-Young, can improve each season on experience learned
-Almost a Bellicheck approach towards media, doesn't give much info out, great aspect of his persona
-Excellent talent evaluator (may be better in a front office role)
-Keeps his cool
-Players seem to like him and respect him
-Very involved in overall team direction
-Good motivator

I was a big Garrett fan when we hired him, but he should probably get another year before they can him, i just think this team doesn't have the talent to succeed anymore

100% agree with everything you wrote. As much as Garrett pisses me off at times, it's not good imo to swith Head Coach or coordinators every 3-4 years.

And like you said, he's a great talent evaluator. Imho probably the best we've had since the 90's. But he can't seem to get these guys to become the players everyone knows they can be. Which makes me lean towards wanting another HC.

Garretts real calling is as GM. But we all know Garrett himself and Jerry would never go for that.

Problem is, get an new coach and the team has to start all over for the 3rd time since Romo has been on the team. Continuity in the coaching room goes along way towards success.

Since when did Garrett become a great talent evaluator?
Just because he recognizes players with OBVIOUS talent, doesn't make him a great talent evaluator.
Terrell Davis in the 6th round is a great evaluation of talent, but only after he helped Shanahan and Elway win back to back Super Bowls.
Not tight ends in the second round who you won't even play.

In Tony Dungys defense he had two huge obstacles in his way.
Tom Brady and Bill Belicheck.
And how can you just discount all the WINNING seasons and PLAYOFF appearances Dungy had with the Colts?
Furthermore, he would be inheriting a Cowboys team that just needs better leadership, not better players.

And don't forget, Tony Dungy took the Buccaneers to the NFC Championship game with Sean King as his qb, and got cheated by the refs.

Dallas has nowhere near the talent of that Bucs team thanks to poor drafts and money tied up in players that aren't contributing.

The talent in the NFL today as a whole is not as good as the talent in the NFL back then.
That's why we gotta move on from Garrett now before it's too late and this team is going 5-11 consecutive seasons again.

Just saw a stat saying Romo has the second highest passer rating (109.7 :wow:) in losses of any player since 1960 :smh: :smh: :smh: :smh:

Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett has changed the sideline operation for Sunday's game against the New York Giants so that he will have direct contact with quarterback Tony Romo on the field as in previous seasons, according to a league source.

Garrett, however, will continue to have offensive coordinator Bill Callahan call the plays. The change will also provide Garrett greater control of the play-calling as he can more easily make changes before delivering to Romo to call in the huddle.

The Cowboys made the changes during their bye week.

Quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson will be relocated from the sideline to the upstairs coaching booth to assist Callahan in reading coverages. Until now, Callahan called the plays upstairs and relayed them to Wilson on the sideline and he communicated them to Romo. League rules forbid coaches from communicating with players directly from anywhere except the sideline.

With Wilson upstairs, Garrett will now take the call from Callahan and -- presuming he doesn't change it -- tell the quarterback through the the equipment in Romo's helmet.

Expect a ton of 'delay of game' penalties

Romo has been a consistent, above average quarterback for us.
Not great, not "elite', but very good throughout his career.
Jerry dealt Romo a bad hand by giving him an unexperienced offensive coordinator, just as Romo was getting into his groove as a starting quarterback.

The issues here is the lack of healthy and talented personnel on the OL and DL. Ive been saying it for 3 years. Blaming the coach is a cop out. Doesn't matter who coaches. They arent that talented. They have good players at positions that are high profile but they lack goid grunts and depth. Thought they had it fixed but guys got hurt and they obviously don't have dept,

I agree that the team needs more depth.

But people have to stop acting like any team in the league could lose essentially there entire starting Dline and just be OK.

Dallas needs to rethink their strength and conditioning processes. No team should suffer injuries like this two years and a row.

Makes me feel like Ratliff was right about the whole situation.

Sickens me to say that :smh:

look at drafts under Wade Phillips compared to Jason Garrett, both had the same scouting director, Garrett had more of an input on personnel, he's done a great job in the draft and the guy can evaluate talent really well

believe it or not, that's good news

honestly Garrett should've just taken back the offense, Callahan should be fired

I expect the team to just be coming to the line with 4 seconds left in the play clock multiple times this week

Hadowajp it wouldn't surprise me at all if that happened.
Miles is back so the Giants defense has to respect him.
Could be a good day for Witten if the protection holds up.
Defense has everybody back except Lee and Durant.
I know Eli was hoping to get his shot at embarrassing Jeff Heath, but thankfully Wilcox is playing.
I got Cowboys 19 - Giants 13

Glad JG is gonna be calling the plays.. And I think Romo is flirting with Elite status.. His numbers make this argument for me (with the exception of this year.. Thanks to Bill Callahan..

Floyd Mayweather just put 6.5 mill on Dallas.

I suddenly feel better about today's game

700

For real though, I couldn't do it. Not that confident.

Edit: This needs to be verified too.. Wasn't it just a rumor last time?
