THE OFFICIAL 2023 DALLAS COWBOYS OFF-SEASON THREAD || Cowboys Gonna Cowboy

Third youngest in the NFL :x. Still can't believe T Smith is only 23. Incredible.
I know it's early, but how much is it going to take to lock this line up financially? And would we be able to. Seems like in the coming years some players now viewed as valuable might be out the door due to salary and not performance reasons.

The team has been smart under Garrett from the jump when it comes to handling money/the cap. This Oline is really effecting the entire team, defense included. Spend whatever money is needed to keep the line together, and just keep drafting running backs to play behind them. Whatever they do tho, keep this line together.... At least the big 3. And honestly, I don't see Jerry letting any of those 3 go.

The question is can we afford to keep Dez & Demarco? :frown:

Dez is a given... Jerry won't let him go after pulling that steal.. But Demarco.... Who knows

Dez ain't going nowhere  Not worried about that in theeee slightest.

I'd love to keep Murray, especially after this season. But I'd have no problem with them letting him walk, and drafting a RB in the 3rd round. At the same time, I won't be crying if we keep him.

To be honest, after Dez, right now, my priority is resigning McClain.

Im with you there. McClain and Dez are the two biggest priorities, especially with Lee's injury history and we dont know if Carter will be back.

Parnell needs to hold the fort down til Free comes back. I personally wouldnt mind keeping him out til after the bye and not bring him back that week before. 8-2 going into the bye would be lovely, better than i could have ever expected.

And finally having a later bye :pimp:

Bring free back whenever he's ready for sure no need to rush him

And yes to the late bye playing in London will end up actually helping us I believe

Demarco seems to always have something going on, whether it is injuries or fumbling. For that reason I wouldn't offer much.

Aside from those issues, he is the best back they've had since Emmitt. He is very good in short yardage situations and can also break the long run.

If we don't resign Murray, I really see us going after AP for cheap barring any jail time .. dude may have high mileage but I'll take him if all else fails.

It truly bugs me when people use the "pick and plug" runningback philosophy. Demarco has been here for 4 years, broke a franchise record as a rookie, and has low tread on the tires. We overpaid for Marion Barber who honestly, wasn't a home run threat and just a short yardage king.

Demarco catches out the backfield, is a GREAT pass blocker, and has GREAT vision. No need to mess up this chemistry and young nucleus. Sean Lee will undoubtedly take a pay cut. Resigning Dez, Demarco and RoMcClain are priority.

I agree 100% .. I hope with can bring him back, I'm just not too sure of our cap situation next season. With the way he's been running there's a possibility he may want big money, but Stephen Jones said we're gonna do whatever it takes to keep him.

We've been hurt too many times giving guys big contracts like Miles Austin, Marion Barber, Roy Williams, Jay Ratliff etc. I hope they either let Demarco go or sign him to a reasonable contract.

Tyron is going to play Sunday. Ankle injury is something minor.

No worries

The Dallas Cowboys may be breathing a sigh of relief after further evaluations of the ankle injury suffered by starting left tackle Tyron Smith.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com, an MRI on Smith’s injured ankle showed it was not a high-ankle sprain suffered last week against the Seattle Seahawks and that Smith could play this weekend against the New York Giants.

Smith was forced to leave Wednesday’s practice early after feeling discomfort in his ankle.

Smith became the first offensive lineman to be named as a conference player of the week since Brian Walters of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2004. Smith’s performance, along with the rest of the Cowboys offensive line, helped Dallas control the game against Seattle as DeMarco Murray rushed for 115 yards against the league’s top-ranked run defense in a 30-23 win over the Seahawks.

the cap space looks like poop bc romo takes a huge chunk from (11M to 28M)...obvi restructure

i hear ya with the space as it currently is, but they're gonna have enough to make a run at at least one big name (i hope)
