THE OFFICIAL 2023 DALLAS COWBOYS OFF-SEASON THREAD || Cowboys Gonna Cowboy

I've never known a whole lot about how contracts work but could using the franchise tag help with not only keepin Dez but help with securing a solid contract for Murray too?

It would probably do the opposite with Dez cap figure fixed at 12 or so mil

But I will never doubt Steven and his cap magic

I think it might not make a difference, or may even help us for 1 year.

He's a Top 2 Wide Receiver.

Including Calvin Johnson's salary, signing bonus.. You're looking at $15mil

Then you have to factor in what Dez is getting paid now. Means he'll want a certain amount of back pay. He's worth probably 5-6x the $3mil in total compensation he's getting.

good to see romo back running our offense... murray & dez got right back on track with his return too. overall, romo looked good out there, i just wish we wouldn't have kept him in for so long. either way, this bye week should be good in terms of rest & preparation for some tough upcoming games.

very happy with our record at this point in the season as well... definitely did not expect it to be this good. i have full confidence in this team going into december.

He is worth much more but remember that the signing bonus is split on a per year basis so if he got 7 for 110 30 mil signing bonus his first year salary would only be base for next season plus 4.??? Million if he's tagged it's around 12-15 million all at once most contracts are back loaded

**just pulled those numbers out of my behind but you get what I'm saying

Cap number range for next season 5.5-15million I would prefer a 5 to 8 mil range on his first year

Murray, Frederick, Tyron, and Zack Martin are all the leading vote getters at their positions for the pro bowl. Dan Bailey is second for kickers.

Good to see them getting recognition :smokin

^Good stuff.

Hopefully they'll have to get replacements and skip the Pro Bowl altogether due to a commitment the following week.

Don't care who wins between 49ers & Giants... But always more fun to see the Giants stink..
But definitely need Packers to win over Eagles.
Toss up between Cards & Lions in who we want to win. But I'll go with Cards because I'd rather have them in than Detroit,
Chiefs over Seahawks.

just realized the next 4 games are all primetime spots.. w/ the division up for grabs, nows our time to shine Boyz!!!!

2 sunday night games, and 2 thursday games!!!!

McClain, and Crawford both practiced today. Josh Brent has been making "great strides" and will be in rotation this Sunday. Interested in seeing how he performs.

Bye week was one of the best in recent memory. It was capped off with me meeting Dez Bryant at the 40/40 club. Almost creamed my pants  . Took a photo with him and discussed the Giants game this Sunday and him beasting on them.

He didn't have many people with him but Dez was definitely down to earth. I wonder if he'll remain that way after he gets paid. When I met Shaq in Miami, he seemed annoyed by the attention and dudes asking him for a picture that by the time I had got to him a little later he was like "Nah no more man..."

How did you approach him? :nerd:
How did you go about getting a picture with him?

Did the illuminati baptize him? :nerd: ....

There's a former Cowboy that I see on a monthly basis and we chop it up for a few minutes about the past few games every time I see him. I wish I could tell y'all his name but due to health privacy regulations, I can't. He's in the HoF though. Anyways, he is easy to talk to. I think it's partly because he is an older guy and been out of the spotlight for a while.

The only celebrity I've met in public was Vinny Paul at a Spencer's .
I had no idea how to approach him but nonetheless, I did . He was really cool but the social awkwardness I had back then took over and I ended the convo abruptly

I see Larry Allen almost daily he lives near me and I've met Darren Woodson in Vegas both were/cool cats very approachable

He was relatively easy to approach. I was actually there because it was my friend's birthday and he and a couple of us decided to go to the 40/40 and when we found out Dez was there, we were DEFINITELY going.

The first time I tried to actually get into his private section but the bouncer wouldn't let me. I told him I was willing to pay him cash to let my party with Dez and his boys but he wasn't having it  . So 15 minutes later Dez was getting ready to get up to go to the main parts of the lounge, heading to the bar for more drinks. I waited downstairs and when he came down I gave him a pound and told him how I've been a fan of the Boyz since I was 4 and that I been watching him beast since the Oklahoma days. He said "much respect. That's dope man." I told him 'throw up the X' and we did and he went to the bar. But I wasn't satisfied at this point  because I knew people wouldn't believe me without a picture. But at the same time I didn't want to seem like too much of a male groupie. So I ended up using this girl, who ironically was there only because she's a Cowboys fan and wanted to take a picture with Dez. But she wasn't confident in herself and was nervous about approaching him. I gave her a pep talk in the damn club pretty much and encouraged her that he wasn't going to diss her and if anything he'd diss me since I'm a male. But I told her we after the same thing: a picture with Dez. So after coaching her up for about 15 minutes she finally agreed and we went downstairs and she approached first. After he took the picture with her, he was actually getting ready to leave. I was nervous at this point and I cut Dez's 'route' off  and just asked him for a pic, been a fan since day 1 etc. That corny bouncer that was blocking the entrance to his section was getting ready to come down and Dez looked at him and gave him that 'relax dude' look and he took the picture. The best part of that was Dez looked legitimately happy in the photo; not like how most athletes look with the 'im tired of taking pictures with fans' look. We threw up the X in the photo too :smokin

After the photo was when I asked him about beasting on the Giants like he did in the first matchup.

What really made the night was apparently these four females and their male friend thought I was Dez Bryant  . They ended up taking a bunch of photos with me with their phone, even the 'male groupie' begged me for a picture . One of the girls goes "So Dez how long are you staying in NY" and my reply was "Only for one night." She goes "Why? Please stay longer." I told her "I have to watch film for next week and beast on the Giants" . She understood but forced her number into my phone and wanted to exchange the photos we took together. I sent her the photos later on that morning and she was so amped saying "We look good together." Little did she know the huge L she was about to take once she put those photos on instagram with a "Me and Dez Bryant in the 40/40 club" caption and her friends indicating that I ain't no damn Dez Bryant

I think earlier in the night Dez was in a private section but then he came to the main part of the club and was in the VIP for a good 2 hours. It was cool that he walked around a bit too. I must admit though, the females they he had in there with him were subpar.

You're right about the 'being out of the spotlight' comment and being more approachable. I'm really curious as to how Dez will act once he gets his big contract and his brand grows more. Money/fame change people and sometimes it's required because there's too many people on your jock and you can't appease everyone. I remember reading reports about how TDubz (Terrence Williams) was the only approachable player after training camp practices in Oxnard, and Romo and Dez in particular would jet off ignoring the fans that wanted to take photos and get autographs with them.
