THE OFFICIAL 2023 DALLAS COWBOYS OFF-SEASON THREAD || Cowboys Gonna Cowboy

"@fishsports: SJones on @RMcClain205 #Cowboys want to sign a long-term contract and keep him here. He'd be a great compliment w Sean Lee' @1053thefan

The feeling is mutual with McClain also. Micheal Huff who's a close friend of McClain's said dude has been talking about Dallas long term.

Well on the bright side, LB is mediocre in this draft.

So we can go DE now to pair with Lawrence which is probably the deepest position in the draft.

In your ideal scenario does this team keep Melton? If they can grab another d lineman in the draft and a proper safety this d will be pretty good.

I still think guard or right tackle should be a priority (not first round) to protect them from free or Leary having any issues

Probably need to look at replacing Claiborne as well

Even with all that being said this is a more complete team then I can remember having for a long time the best players may not be as good as 07-09 but the average starters are looking to be much better then those teams

In all honesty we have a Super Bowl Caliber Offense...

With the defense playing the way it is, if they keep it up, it's a better chance than we've ever had in 15 years.

No I'm not saying we are a lock, or favorites or anything. Just saying it's the best chance this team has had in a long time.

Yes, even a better chance than the 13-3 2007 season because we couldn't rely on the run like we can now. OLine was not nearly as good. WR/TE core today compared to 2007 is better.
slow your roll man

I don't think we keep Melton. And it's not because he's been bad, he hasn't.

His team option is 9m next year. That's just too much unfortunately.

Pretty much. I dont think they truly planned on keeping him past this year, even if he exceeded expectations.

That'd be really grimy. He took a below market value contract that fit within the salary cap just to play for the Boys'. :smh:

I'm with the others who have chimed in I don't keep him either not because I don't like the player just not at 9 mil

He took below market to show he can play and possibly be in line for a payday after one season

He knew Minnelli would let him shine so it was really hear or with lovie who didn't want him back

I have a question for the people that picked us to go 4-12, 5-11, 6-10, 7-9.
Do you see us only winning 0-3 games the rest of the season?

I'll be the first to say i didnt expect to be 4-1 after 5 games. Still got work to do but im pleasantly surprised with where we are.

Hopefully we can keep it rollin these next 11 games

Not to beep my own horn...but a few of us said before the season an average defense wins us a few more games.

Whether u call this D average or not, it's obviously better than last year. And we're reaping the rewards.

How do u guys feel about the 8 point line against Seattle? Think we cover?

I've been Garretts biggest fan on this board and even said after week 1 that this team will win a lot of games this year if Romo doesn't play like a bum. This team could win a Super Bowl if Romo played like a $100 million QB.

We can't even give the D all the props though, sticking it a balanced O & running the ball consistently is what got us to 4-1.

And we don't need Romo to play like a 100M QB, just play smart and not turn the ball over.

^^i agree. Credit is due all over. Our coaching has been a bright spot, you can see the influence the coordinators have on their units. You can see the growth in JG as a coach.

Yall gon hate this. But Jerry Jones(maybe Stephen lol) deserves some credit too. From the oline picks, extending scan before he was the player he is today, to finding depth on D, particularly at linebacker and the line.

This team fights. I'm not sure who to credit that to, but it's sumn new. And I like it.

i think i posted this somewhere. jerry gets a lot of slander, but it's been a little quieter lately. thanks to tyron, frederick, martin. building through the O-line. from the outside, it looks more like the parcells style offense with marion barber. control clock, balanced offense, play defense. yall definitely have a winning formula right now, so long as garrett doesn't go full ****** and start dialing up a million pass plays a game.

^^ repped for the realness.

And it seems like garret is finally 100% hands off with the offense. Linehan fits in oerfectly, and he's called some nice games so far, especially sticking to the run where in the past we would abandon it when the going got tough.

IDK how to feel about the game. I look at it on one had and see what happened last night and think they could possibly follow that same blueprint. But then again...they are the Cowboys

They need to control the clock is what it comes down to. That and Dez really needs to not let anyone in that secondary get in his head.

At least they had a ton of practice with the silent count this past weekend :smh:

I'm convinced Garrett was "influencing" the plays being called in the third quarter and early fourth quarter of the Saints game.
Offense went dead and everyone looked pissed after each 3 and out.

Saving my prediction until right before kickoff.

It's going to be soooo cot damn loud in there Sunday... I remember the last game we played there like it was yesterday, I fully expected a W and these dudes getting crazy blocked punts etc. etc. and that jawn was rockin' three crazy from start to finish

  Revenge on my mind.

Do we treat Sherm like any other corner or stay away? Sans the San Diego game I haven't seen homie truly tested all year... like not even in the slightest outside of a few targets his direction that were severely under or overthrown.

larry david larry david , Pure Uncut REVENGE!
They mauled us that game.
Dez was shook. Romo and Garrett weren't on the same page.
Defense held its own considering the circumstances.
