THE OFFICIAL 2023 DALLAS COWBOYS OFF-SEASON THREAD || Cowboys Gonna Cowboy

I like Brice Butler. There's enough to give him another look next year. Big WR switching him between the outside & Slot... Creates some mismatches.

Dez is the clear # 1.

TW, Butler & Beasley # 2 & #3 By Committee on different formations.

Lucky on KR/PR.

I like Brice Butler to put up a real good fight for the #2 spot. I also like Robert Turbin backing up whoever our #1 is at RB.

Assuming we draft a RB, he likely wouldn't make the roster. Or would end up on the Practice Squad.

McFadden is signed through next year. And has proved to be a decent starter / capable backup.

Lance Dunbar's injury was pretty significant, which will kill his market. It's worth signing him to a contract to see if he's permanently damaged. Because if he's not, maybe we get a steal for a year or two. He is a really good pass catching back, and has enough speed to get decent YPC.

Or let Dunbar & Turbin compete for the 3rd spot. If Dunbar comes back healthy and no drop off, I don't think Turbin stands much of a chance.

He would probably be in competition with McFadden and rookie/fa rb. No hurt in having him around to compete is it? Dunbar seems to have that pass catching/ change of pace role locked.

Both Turbin & Dunbar are FAs.

Considering how much we need to spend to revamp the defense, as well as keeping Hardy & McClain...... We may end up having to pick one or the other of Turbin & Dunbar.

But best case scenario for us... Yeah let the two compete. Just because no idea if Dunbar is fine.

But I'd still draft a RB, and have McFadden as the # 2 for a season. Or other way around if the RB we draft isn't quite ready.

Draft Status.....

Bears, Lions... Saints (up 21-0) all got to 6 wins, we can no longer catch them.

Ravens got their 5th win, to pass us up.

http://nfltraderumors.co/nfl-strength-of-schedule-rankings/

If we win:
If all of the 5 win teams; Jags (@HOU), Dolphins (vs. NE) Ravens (@CIN) lose, we get the 7th or 8th pick.
If Chargers win (@DEN), still 7th or 8th pick.
If 49ers win (vs. STL), 7th pick.

AS OF RIGHT NOW

If we lose:
We pick between 3-4.
If 49ers lose, and Chargers lose we pick 4th.
Chargers win, 49ers lose, we pick 3rd.
If 49ers win, and Chargers lose, we pick 4th.

Titans have no impact whether they win or lose, they have 1st pick locked due to having an easier strength of schedule.
Browns may inch closer to use, and may pass us.. Just played Chiefs and have Steelers coming up. But I don't think they will. Also they won't beat the Steelers anyway.

My guess..
1. Titans (3-13)
2. Browns (3-13)
3. Chargers (4-12)
4. Ravens (5-11)
5. Dolphins (5-11)
6. Cowboys (5-11)
7. 49ers (5-11)
8. Jaguars (6-10)

Sit Dez out. Please for the love of god.

^All those 9er fans jumped off the bandwagon already. We've all seen how many Sackorpick jerseys that are on Ebay right now.

We've all seen pics of the ghostown known as Levi's stadium. The last time a professional athlete stepped in that stadium was Wrestlemania :D

We could use a 9th home game.

You don't do so well with the 8 you already have.

I've realized that part of the reason that I've been such a strong supporter of Jason Garrett because of Jerry Jones has made some awful head coach decisions and I have very little faith that he will make a good decision.

How do we know he won't bring in a Dave Campo.

The problem I have with Garret is his outdated offensive philosophy that has been masked by the playmaking ability/improvision of Romo. For years people were critical of Romo waiting until the last second to snap the ball when in reality he has been changing the play at the like of scrimmage and making the necessary adjustments because our coaches are terrible. I've been a supporter of Garret because I bought into his 'process.' While injuries took their toll on this team this year, it is by no means an excuse to give Garrett a pass. I hope people finally appreciate what type of QB Romo is as he's been the only reason we've been competitive all these years despite having trash (primarily the coaching and bonehead owner) around him.

With that being said, I'm willing to give Garrett another year only for continuity sake. He has set this offensive line up for years to come and the cap has gotten significantly better since he's taken over. Players also tend to play for him. This is the first time in over 12 years in which we'll have a top 4 pick possibly which can immediately have a huge impact on the team next year. A weaker schedule and flying under the radar also helps tremendously since this team tends to 'buy into their own hype' so to speak. I envision either a repeat of 2014 where we go 12-4 13-3 or we have another disaster of a season with 4-12/3-13 which would no doubt force Jerry to get rid of Garrett.

I personally think play calling is overrated and execution is underrated. As long as everything isn't predictable of what you will do out of every formation, I feel like the players just need to execute the plays correctly.

When the players exexute the plays right, for example in Philly with Chip Kelly and his 4 plays, they call him a genius. When the players don't execute the plays right, everyone says that it's because Chip Kelly only has 4 plays and they are predictable.

For example, there were plenty of times when Matt Cassel was blitzed and he could not throw a 10 yard slant that was even catchable by Cole Beasley or Dez Bryant. How many times did these guys fail to pick up 1 yard on 3rd and short with Darren McFadden. Everyone knew Demarco Murray was getting the ball last year, and it didn't matter, he got the first downs and Touchdowns.

I want us to trade back, in the draft, maybe to #'s 8-12. I believe 2 first round picks would be awesome. This is a good, deep draft.

Damn, was hoping this game would be in Dallas.  We could use a 9th home game.  We need all the help we can get.

This was the truth tho when I went down for opening day last year I couldn't believe how many 9er fans were there including 2/3 of my group

And don't throws stones bruh the niners can't fill that trash *** stadium for anything other than one direction or Taylor Swift all those fake fans watching games in the oakland coliseum
