Browns goofed...

And since it's looking like we are going to lose..

We are locked in for the 3rd or 4th pick.

It's 3rd if Chargers win, 4th if Chargers lose.

Only thing Chargers have to play for is knocking Broncos out of a bye.

And just for reference of trading back..

Based on the value chart.

The 4th pick for the 8th & 41st would be 1800 value versus 1890 value.

We should grab a QB. I would be OK with trading Romo for 5th rounder to someone like the Vikings or Bears, or Jets.

Then use the cap space to go after a free agent WR. Use the rest of the draft on defense.

Here's how I view the team going forward...

If they are on the depth chart and in red, it means they need to be re-signed.

Box highlighted in red means huge need, box in yellow means we need it but it isn't a huge priority, box in green means last moves you make and last rounds.

1500

Free agency.... You must keep Hardy & McClain, most important guys in Free Agency. Lose either one, and you create a huge hole that you need to address. I think with Hardy & McClain's rep and both getting in trouble this year, they can be had for well below market value.

On top of that... Bernadeau, Wilbur, Hayden are solid and cheap rotational guys... I prefer Dunbar, but if his market gets too high, you need to let him go and go Turbin.

Cut Brandon Carr & JJ Wilcox. Saves $9mil if done immediately. If you wait for after June 1st with Carr it's $11.85mil.

Lastly, we need to go after an elite Safety or DB. We need to sign one. Whichever we sign, we don't need to draft. I prefer signing a safety.

QB - Important because we need to have the future ready.

RB - Less important to me now. McFadden will rush for close to 1100 yards, he'll likely be Top 5 in Yards. Also there were a few games in the beginning of the year where he was not used at all. His YPC is about .3 yards too low for me (4.4 in the top 20, but it's still low), but when you consider we've had no passing threat for the whole season, it made it easier to load the box.

Also the team rushing attack was actually as good as it was last year. 4.6 ypc. The difference in yards is about 450 yards... The reason for that is about 100 less rushes over the season.. That is because we were not able to have as many extended drives due to **** passing, and McFadden has been solid, but he wasn't as solid as Murray was last year.

DT - Need another guy who can get to the passer. If we're going with a 4 man rush play after play, you better have 4 guys who can rush the passer well. Would make it so difficult to contain Hardy & Crawford. Because if you double both of them, you leave the Rookie DT and Lawrence or Gregory man to man.

CB or FS - whichever wasn't signed in FA.

Although I don't want to, I'd say you kind of have to go QB in Round 1. Because there's no reason to draft a DB this high. And there's no franchise changing DT at the top of the draft.

That's good work there Essential!!!

I agree with you. If there was a franchise changing Warren Sapp DT, then I would be OK with it. Otherwise, go with the best QB available.

If they could sign Greg Hardy to a 2yr contract at around $4 mil a year, I would be OK with it. He's way too much of a nutcase to offer any more than that.

Thank you...

Hardy will cost way more than that. Had he not been in trouble, and been unapologetic, he probably would have gotten 6 year / $100mil last year.

And yeah a nutcase, yadda yadda. But the Cowboys desperately need him. Because he will command double teams, and helps a 4 man rush tremendously. You lose Hardy, you now need to draft a DE first round, and a QB in the 2nd.. And you still have a gaping hole in your secondary. He's worth not having to worry about DE for a few years.

Top 4 pick. You only want to be this bad once. Im not sold on Bosa. Will be interesting to see how much they like Goff (if he gets to us). Im interested in Myles Jack myself

Going to be interesting to see what we do. Evaluations start now.

I'm rooting for Washington next week. Versus Vikings.

If they win they pick somewhere between 25-28.

Further back they pick, the worse their chances of coming close to winning division next year.

the only way we play washington if we end up in a tie tonight. either we play seattle at home or GB again in GB

That does absolutely nothing for us besides setting us back another 2 years from being 2 years away

The ideal scenario would be to trade down, stock picks, and draft a RB like Zeke Elliot. We can set ourselves up for the future if one of these teams fall in love with Goff or Lynch.

If we stay at #4 go with Bosa, Jaylon Smith(depending on injury), or Ramsey.

^ So when Romo breaks his collarbone next season, we can get another top 5 pick. Sounds like a great idea.

I guess you expect Romo to play another 5 years like Jerry Jones.

There is no way you can decide not to QB, Romo could break his collarbone again next season and retire.

Id take my chances with having Romo than getting rid of him for a rookie next season. I don't mind bringing in a rookie but I'm not sacrificing Tony for him just yet.

Neither one of the top ranked QBs in this year's draft is worth a top 5 pick.

Has nothing to do with expecting Romo to play another 5 years, we can easily trade down and still end up with young QB to groom in the 2nd or 3rd round, it's about maximizing your assets.

You can also sign a real backup QB in the off season as well, not Weeden/Cassel.

Mike Glennon will also be available, trading one of our lower picks to TB for him wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Point is we have options, trading Romo for a 5th round pick and signing a WR in free agency isn't one of those options though.

I dont think the Cowboys can get anything for Romo. No one will want that giant contract plus his injury woes.

Id love to have a great RB but the fact is we need to get a QB that can be built for the future.

There arent any QBs out in free agency that can do any better than what we have now.

IMO Goff is the way to go all things considered.

But....

We will probably blow a bunch of picks on a trade for Manziel because Jerry Jones lives in an ulterior world

Romo for a 5th? You crazy? That just accelerates all of his guaranteed money to next year and we're over the cap. If we can get Wentz(sp) top of the second and Ramsey in the first I'm in all the way. I can understand if they pick a qb at 4 if their board lines up, you don't want to be picking #4 again next year and that's what trading romo for a 5th gets you

I hope we address the backup QB situation before the draft so we aren't forced to pick one at #4.

Thats possible but who do we get.

Its got to be someone great because Romo will get hurt again. His mind is there but his body is long gone.

Mike Glennon is the guy they should target for now via trade with TB and draft another young QB in the 2nd or 3rd, we pretty much pick in the top 5 of every round.

Nobody great is out there in the draft or free agency this year, we don't have to lock ourselves into a situation where we HAVE to draft a QB at #4 in my opinion.

I'm not one of those people that think romo will play out his contract(what is it 4 years?) to me you have 2 years max with romo. i still wouldn't draft a QB at 4 tho.

the QB of the future may not be in this draft after Goff and lynch its a major drop off

-Connor cook

-Jake coker

- hackenberg

-cardal Jones

-Cody kessler

to name a few then also a couple of small school QB's they could go after

the FA pool QB's is
sick.gif

-TJ Yates

-Matt Moore

-colt McCoy

-Chad Heine

just to name some.

i wouldn't dare trade for, kapp, RG3, or johnny, its not that i don't think we could use either of them the minute romo ***** up its going to create a media circus that we don't need.

with the 4th pick i would go with Mackensie Alexander or Hargeaves. i love Ramsey but think he gets moves to safety and back to back years you can't have your CB pick grow out of his position and still have a big *** hole at CB.

Robert Nkemdiche would have been a perfect pick at 4 but you can't do that anymore

We need another QB simple as that, and if bringing in one causes a media fire storm, then so be it. This mentality is the reason why Romo has never has a capable backup BC people are afraid to give him competition for the starting spot.

I no longer give a crap about media, I just wanna win and im tired of our QB always being "one hit away" and cringing every time he's sacked.

With being said I wouldnt mind bringing in RG3, not so sure about Johnny or Kaep tho.

Take Geno. I'll personally pay for his flight to Dallas. Jerry can save a few bucks.
