I sold my iphone 4 32GB for $250 on CL so that's about right. I don't blame you for the quick flip.

But the technology is not even close to being implemented safely at a scale that would be considered worthwhile. This isn't like Maps where Apple released an imperfect version. They can fix that in house. This is like LTE. The network needs to mature before Apple jumps on board.

exactly.... they had video phones back in the 80's... was it cutting edge... sure.. but putting something out with no market.. just for the sake of saying yea i did it first means what exactly... ? It didnt turn into higher revenue of sales.. it didnt turn into more and more ppl using video phones. Its two decades or so later and still video phones arent a household staple.. Plus like someone else said nfc in cellphones are at the infant stages and the ability to hack steal info is relatively easy. So at this point it isnt very reliable, safe, or practical. So again its just out there for tech junkies, fanboys, and the whole elitest i have something u dont im better then u.

Outside of ppl saying it allows me to do something i already could in a different way, what else is there.. What has it changed revolutionized? How has it changed everyday life? Exactly...............

For all the grief apple got for just getting lte... it was a smart move... having a phone with the ability to use a service that is spotty at best is ... Having a lte phone 4 yrs ago was virtually pointless outside of having it just to say i have it.. Its like ppl who get a i7 processor and all they do is google/facebook/instagram/ and twitter. nfc is dependent on others, services etc and a variety of other factors.. its not like electric cars where its interdependent and isnt contingent on other motorist, or the market etc.

I suggest you guys read up on NFC though.
NFC is not anything new. Plus this article sums up the security issues you guys speak of.

People have a much easier time hacking your wifi networks as opposed to your NFC enabled devices.

Same here Drew...typing from my MacBook Pro which is my second one, and I bought my mother one as well, all the children have iPads as does me and the lady, but we all have Android phones after coming from the iPhone 4. So in all honesty my allegiance is to great technology as much as it is to a specific manufacturer. I speak with my dollar, not just a fanboy, heck more than %10 of my salary is spent on tech every year.
Fanboyism actually hurts technology. Fanboys mistake being critical as being disloyal. So they accept anything that is offered to them by the company they stan for. The company sees this and strings them along by offering minimal upgrades knowing they are going to blindly accept it. If the fanboys were less fanatic and more critical the company would see that and make sure they are satisfying their customers by giving them what they are asking for. Why? Because a corporations main goal for existing is to make a profit and if the customers aren't satisfied and are demanding more, then it behooves the company to give them what they are asking for.
Not paying attention to the market and the impending doom that occurs by not doing so is what Blackberry is going through right now.[/COLOR]

I absolutely agree with this.

i never said the technology was new what i was saying it is new in the aspect of being utilized in cell phones. and i was saying that it is a product/service that doesnt stand on its on and is dependent on other factors in order for it to be a staple, common place, and a practical in everyday usage..

thats why i mentioned video phones.. the technology etc is decades old... but just like nfc is now there really wasnt a large market for it cause not alot of phone services offered it... and not to many ppl had the technology to utilize the feature... same goes for lte a few yrs ago... it wasnt a new concept but the market/practicality and service didnt warrant buying a phone with lte a few yrs ago...

it would be the same as if iphone offered facetime on the og iphone...yea it wouldve been cool etc.. and im pretty sure it could have been implemented... but with them not having a large following in the cell phone industry.. and lacking a market for it... it wouldve been seen as a novelty, and been used by the few ppl who had an iphone had it not blew up and sold as well as it did.

Wow. These droids are tools. Go back to your own thread(s).

We get that you feel apple ripped people off of that the android has had certain techs before iPhone.

That doesn't mean the android phones are necessarily great. All phones have flaws. If you don't own an iPhone you really shouldn't comment about it.

That's my exact problem with Apple nowadays. Don't get me wrong, I love their products but the innovation that they had before hasn't been reached in a while. They were willing to take a leap and introduce the iPhone into the world back in '07 but they can't implement NFC in the iPhone 5 now? Why not support a technology that has been used successfully in countries like Japan (which Apple has a huge market presence in) and influence the rest of the developing world as opposed to taking a step backwards and create passbook?

AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon made a joint venture to back NFC payments in their cell phones. I'm pretty sure a company like Apple could have showed interest instead of regress in their technology.

NFC in Cell Phones have been around for years now and a company as "innovative" as Apple not including NFC in the iPhone 5 just shows that they're starting to get lazy with their products.

Why are we still discussing the flop that is Android in this iPhone thread?

Android hasn't "flopped". If anything, Google's been more innovative in their products/services than Apple has in a while.

Besides, we're not even discussing about Android. We're talking about a cell phone feature that would have been life changing if it was in the iPhone 5.

You're calling Android users "tools" yet you have the Apple logo as your avy?

Last time I checked, this thread was for people that have an iPhone 5 or an Apple product that is running iOS 6.

I have a 3GS running iOS6 so I'm guessing I have a G pass to post my thoughts in this thread.

every since I updated my 4 to ios6 my reception has been horrible...

Apple ya think ya slick...

NFC has already been called dangerous and how if everyone in the room may have it on someone can easily walk by and take your information.

not really sure what the point of it would be tho....for any phone

Same as a Wi Fi network in your home. Leave it unlocked and people can steal free internet off of you. God forbid anything else worse.
Like everything in this digital age, there are risks in everything you do. You just have to be smart about it.

You have to lock your device the same way as how you put a passcode to sign on your wifi network.

it's a discussion forum. we're discussing relevant things about the iphone. i don't get why you're shooing us away when we're trying to have a constructive discussion about cell phone technologies.

 at your apologist response
and  that probably came out of the box like that

Sorry. I'm not a little ***** who expects things to get handed to him every time something goes wrong. **** this generation of whiny children. Be a man and accept some responsibility.

:wow: tell em why you mad son.

are you referring to people who are returning their scuffed phones? i would have no problems returning an item that the CEO claims to have been manufactured "with the precision of a finely tuned watch." you really need to listen to yourself. why are you sympathizing for a company that's putting out a product in less-than-stellar condition? why should anyone accept responsibility for a company's ****up? at least apple is acknowledging this problem (unofficially at least) by allowing people to return their scuffed iphones, so props to them.

Anyone with an iPhone 4 experiencing problems after upgrading to iOS6? I'm getting lags when taking pictures, opening apps and sending text messages.

my 4s was moving funny in some areas but I think it was just the crazy influx of new users messing the servers up

my voice text wasn't working but it's back and my Internet was moving faster but glitching at the same time

everything is fine now but again I'm on the 4s

After I updated my 4s to os6 I reset everything on it like I got it out the box and did my custom tweaks to it and it was fine
They rearrange everything on settings so you have go through it / I notice some of my apps does work well with os6 like tapatalk and I use that a lot
