the only way this movie would be good is if Robocop and Rambo show up out of nowhere and just started picking off each cast member one by one
 
Well, Hollywood officially announced it in 21 Jump Street. They ran out of ideas and are bringing back a lot of old stuff.

Off topic, but truth is still told, I would eem be mad if the remade Mario Bros. with more respect to the game.

This is exactly why the shoe game is bad old heads just can't learn to let go.  Let the kids experience it in a form they best relate with and understand

21 Jump Street was quite good, though. They made fun of Hollywood recycling old ideas, and it was a good parody of action and high school movie cliches.

As for OP, this isn't the first time a popular movie has received a direct to video sequel.. it's fairly common.

I know but this is a classic, some things you just leave alone
 
The movie doesn't look that bad given what it was made for.

Then again, I've never seen the 1st one.
 
There are some things you just shouldn't mess with. Hollywood is definitely in need of some originality.
