and we're done

I'm doubtful for Amare to come back Xmas day. Dude can't even go full contact practice yet. At least i haven't heard that he could.

I would like him to be back by then though

I wonder what it feels like being injured all the time asa franchise player?

We're probably gonna get beat bad on the glass tonight...and it won't 'eem matter.
...I'm sayin', though.
i thought tonight had the potential to be a trap game but i'm glad it wasn't. this knicks team finally has a soul.
Playing vs. the Lake show on national TV is anything BUT a trap game.

Great win. I hope Melo is okay.

Kobe: Knicks Figured Out Right Pieces To Surround Carmelo Dec 14, 2012 1:53 AM EST

Carmelo Anthony is having one of the best seasons of his career while leading the New York Knicks to the top record in the Eastern Conference (17-5).

Kobe Bryant described a conversation he had with Anthony over the summer as teammates on the United States' Olympic team.

“You know he and I are good friends,” said Bryant. “We talked when we were together for the Olympic team. I think last year it was very tough for him because he was criticized a lot for shooting and for playing the way that he likes to play. Then the whole Linsanity thing happened and everybody said, 'Well, they win better without Melo' and all this nonsense.

"You guys (media) are guilty of it. You guys really put the hammer on him and as a result he kind of got a little gun shy and a little self consciousabout things. I just asked him, ‘What the hell are you doing? To hell with them.’ You have to do what you do best and I think the organization put pieces around him that allow him to do that and now you guys all celebrate him for doing what he’s always done. It’s funny. God bless you guys.”

Anthony ranks second in scoring (27.7 points per game) among all NBA players.

From realgm. Kobe spoke the truth. It's really nice to see Kobe stood up for his friend Melo. Reporters probably feel ashamed after hearing what Kobe said. Melo should sit out this Saturday. We can beat Cleveland without Melo.

The criticism for Melo from anyone with half a brain last year wasn't about him shooting, it was the iso-ball and lack of ball movement. Jason Kidd was huge in changing that.

you are basing it on name alone. The Lakers are a sub 500 team and are on a losing streak. Take "lakers" of their jersey and you say, "oh we got this".

Cleveland is a good team but that's a game we should win. You have to win the games you're supposed to. I don't think Melo will play this game and Cleveland takes us to the last 2-3 minutes.

Zach Lowe on the Knick's 3 point shooting and how well Amare will fit when he returns. The problem however is the irony that under Woodson the offense is outstanding, but the defense has been quite average. And adding Amare will not help in that regard. Shumpert will help, but he won't help the interior defense if they keep Melo at the 4 a lot with Amare's return.

Stoudemire fits all of this like a glove. Lineups lacking one or both of the Chandler/Anthony duo just don’t have enough inside presence or dribble penetration to create looks for the rest of New York’s roster, heavy on spot-up guys and low on off-the-bounce creators. Stoudemire’s pick-and-roll game is the perfect answer, and the Knicks have a floor-spacing center in Rasheed Wallace to pair with Stoudemire so that Amar’e doesn’t have to be the lone big on the floor defensively. Bringing Stoudemire back to his pick-and-roll roots without Melo and Chandler around to take up space will also generate more free throws.

Look: It’s impossible for Woodson to stagger all the minutes perfectly, and he doesn’t have to. Stoudemire can play center against a lot of teams, and Anthony has shot the ball from outside well enough to work as a spot-up threat around Stoudemire pick-and-rolls. Stoudemire and Chandler can function well together in the right lineup combinations.

do you have numbers that show strictly what our defense does in the 4th? seems like they are prone to coast on D but usually put the clamps on the other team in the 4th

I've never read it, but assuming it's accurate and legit.. http://www.teamrankings.com/nba/team/new-york-knicks/stats

Interesting to note the offense is elite through 3 quarters while the defense is average. Then in the 4th, the offense calms down and the defense improves.
