Just wanted to share with you a couple restorations I did



I just started, so I'm fairly new...

Good restorations, I have some questions for you...

What type of paint should I use for some blk/cement 3s? The white part of the midsole to be exact. It's peeling/cracking...

Also, I have some black metallic silver 5s that the paint chipped away at on the midsole above the heel and on the sides, what should I use for that?

Would I have to paint the whole thing or just the part that's messed up ?

Any help would be appreciated

Thx Breezylocks!

The best paint to use for a midsole repaint is Angelus Paint in my opinion which can be bought at Turtlefeathers.com

It holds up very well, wont crack for a long time if applied well and its pretty cheap

As for your question regarding if you have to repaint the whole section of the midsole instead of just the cracked part...

its definitely going to look cleaner if you repaint everything and its done properly, which is what I would recommend

There is obviously a lot more steps and time involved in a full repaint but I feel it would be worth it in the end

Just a couple quick tips and pointers when for repainting:

Prepping is Half the battle, make sure you take your time and do it right

More thin coats are stronger than fewer thick coats

Thin coats will hide paint streaks

And last but not least, if you have anymore questions dont hesitate to ask, Im an open book!

 To whiten the midsole like that I used the Retr0brite Method

Well basically for prepping you want to:

Strip the cracked paint with acetone/ rubbing alcohol with cotton balls.
-Apply 4-5 layers of Paint to the entire midsole. Make sure you let the paint dry for about 15 minutes before applying the next. Use a shader brush and do thin, evenly spread layers.
-Apply 3-4 layers. Use painters tape to your advantage to get clean lines.
-Let dry for 24 hours before wearing.

If you search on Youtube you`ll find a bunch of videos on midsole repainting if you still need more info

And for the retr0brite method, its basically like Seaglow but much cheaper

Update on the Jordan 6s Ive been working on:

Here is what the Whitening of the toecaps and decreasing process looked like

What the Toecap and creases looked like initially

Removing the paint on the toecaps that previous owner used to cover yellowness

My only questions are what is the method you use to decrease the toeboxes? Especially on those cali dunks. I know about the ironing method with the towel, but are there any tricks you've learned while doing it. It never seems to work for me. It also looks like you restored the leather on those 6s and the cali dunks. Did you use the angelus paint at all?

For the Decreasing, I actually use a Fabric Steamer, when the Iron out method isnt working, what the fabric steamer does is soften the leather up and unravel those creases, then I stuff the shoe with plastic bags

It takes a couple of sessions to get the creases out fully

And yea, I do refresh the colour of the leather with a light coat of Angelus paint when its needed
