Tell your story about the crazy things that you have done or have happened to you, just for a pair of Jordans.

Nostalgia & / or respect for the old cw's before things got out of control. A lot of people slow down or stop with the new releases, but hypebeasts didn't ruin it for everyone. There will still be people buying for themselves.

aw man, the post title had me excited! what a let down that it was just a "you're a hypebeast if . . ." type of thread. I was expecting an awesome article . . . :frown:

another one of these?

*looks at OPs join date*

*leaves thread*

Yeah I thought you were about to give your story of how you did anything for jordans i.e. danny tanner in halfbaked. Instead you talk about hypebeasts. :smh:

Just wanted to hear other peoples story, that's why I started this thread.  I guess people took it the wrong way.

I've been collecting for over 10 years now and I feel like I've seen it all when it comes to sneaker insanity. I myself have never "camped" but I've waited on lines for hours only to come out empty handed on quite a few occasions and I've also stumbled into gold mines in the outlets and shopping out of state when not expecting it at all. I've spent my last few dollars on releases and learned my lessons the hard way. Some of the best stories I've come across have been witnessed and not my own per say. I've seen fights break out over line cutting, kids getting robbed before and after releases, store windows being broken, cops breaking up camp outs only to be lined up again immediately after, the mad rush to the sneaker store of choice once the flood gates open at the mall, it's all become the norm. The best experiences that I've actually been involved in usually started with Craigslist, you never know what to expect when shopping on there. Luckily, I've made some really solid connections and some good $$$ on there, ive come across my fair share of weirdos attempting to sell fakes and butchered restorations but i've mostly met a lot of good people.

I no longer wait in lines or pay retail due to the strong connections I've made over the years, but that doesn't change the level of excitement and anticipation at each and every release. I do miss chatting it up with my fellow enthusiasts in the early AM before releases and making new connections, but I have a family now and things are very different. I'm happy for the new generation of "sneakerheads", but I feel bad for them all at the same time. The reselling game has become overwhelming and the amount of releases has become very tough to keep up with. I hope to continue to enjoy my hobby for as long as possible or until I no longer feel the need to continue collecting. Either way I've had a great run, met some awesome people and will enjoy the ride as long as it lasts.

These are my confessions....:smokin

Bait & switch at its finest!

Bait in with the title, switch with actual post.

Thanks for sharing that.  As you grow older and become wiser, certain things become irrelavant.  I do also have a family and they have become priority.  There's no left over funds to keep up with all the releases, so why not bother.  I would still pick up a pair once in a blue moon.
