Is there a reason behind these Amiibo figures?

amiibo
Figures of Nintendo characters can interact with multiple future Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games in unique new ways, providing fresh game-play experiences and a great value for consumers with compatibility across multiple games. Fans can buy and collect amiibo, to bring them closer to the games and characters they love. By the end of the year, Nintendo’s foray into the toys-to-life category will inject energy into the genre. Nintendo will launch amiibo with around 10 figures. More will be launched during the holiday season and throughout 2015. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be the first game to support amiibo. Other games that will support amiibo include Mario Kart 8, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Mario Party 10 and Yoshi’s Woolly World, with more to come. A new NFC reader/writer being designed for Nintendo 3DS is scheduled to launch in 2015.

Nintendo is Planning 2D and 3D Metroid Titles

“So it has been a while since we released the last one and we’re having discussions internally about what we can do next. So at this point we have two different types of Metroid games. We have the Prime style of Metroid game and we have the more traditional style of Metroid game. We feel that we do need to take care of both of these styles of play. And the hope is that at some point in the near future we’ll be able to share something about them.“

Just want to make sure I have this right, so I joined, but come Saturday at 7 I just come back here, and it wont be practice races but live ones?

Yeah, once it hits 7 a message pops up before you join a race that tells you that you are racing for rankings and not for practice anymore.

Cool. It is 7 right? Cause that clock says 10 PM

Not sure if it's localizing the time for you but since it's 7 PST I guess it would be 10 PM for the east.

And this is a prime example of someone only thinking the East Coast exists

“To me, what’s most important is probably the gyro sensor in the GamePad. It’s a little bit hard to understand, but when you’re looking in that third-person view, you can see what’s happening straight ahead of you, but when you have the cockpit view, you actually have to look over and see what’s to either side.

The third-person view of the entire area, what it does, it gives you a broader view of what is happening around you, certainly more than you can see when you’re in that cockpit view. And so as we get deeper into the missions of the game, we’ll be able to use that to give people reasons to take advantage of that. So, for example, if they’re in a course or a level they may need to figure out where the exit is, so they’ll have to be flying around, looking up and around to find that.

We’ve designed it so there’s the ability for cooperative play where one player is able to pilot the ship and the other player is able to use the GamePad and be the gunner. So they can just aim and shoot. They don’t have to worry about flying. We’re still developing the game… but one thing we always like to try to do is have some sort of way for people to play together, and the thing about these types of space shooter games is that they’re fairly easy to get into but they can look somewhat intimidating and complicated, so this time what we’re doing is we actually have a mode—we just didn’t show it—we’ve designed it so there’s the ability for cooperative play where one player is able to pilot the ship and the other player is able to use the GamePad and be the gunner. So they can just aim and shoot. They don’t have to worry about flying.

If there’s an event scene or cinema scene—because you’ve got your cockpit view that’s reserved for you—the event could be playing out on the TV and you’ve got a different view of that. So we’ll be able to take advantage of [you] being able to feel more like you’re part of the event that’s happening because of your ability to look around with that second screen.”

Mario Kart 8 at Target for $34.79 with $1 towards Smash Bros pre-order

Target (store only not online) will Price match Amazon.com if the price is from Amazon themselves and not a reseller. Currently Amazon has MK8 listed for $48.79 so Target matched at the service desk.

Target also has a deal (3rd page on their circular) where you can get $15 off ANY game $39.99 with at least $1 towards ANY pre-order. So I took a pre-order for Smash Bros Wii U and MK8 and it rang up $34.79 + tax.

You also get a $5 Target Gift card when you pick up your pre-order and these are new (not used) copies so they still qualify for Nintendo's Free game offer.
